A light spacious airy house. Please contact owner with a view to smaller parties/couples for special rates.

Apart from a few steps to the entrance, perfect for limited disability.

The main elevation, facing due south, overlooks the garden, and the stream, meaning that the sun is there all day and it's truly delightful - not overlooked either.

Three sets of French Windows lead onto the terrace from the sitting room, and French Windows lead onto terrace from master bedroom. Four other bedrooms upstairs all over looking garden and have shutters, especially for those needing complete darkness.

The kitchen is large, double aspect window with a ceiling fan - needed in the summer.

The terrace has security lighting - not that it's needed for security - but enables you to see creatures passing along the garden.

The setting is wonderfully tranquil and little ones can be contained on the terrace.

You are not required to pay a booking fee to rent my house.

I share my time between UK (where my children and grandchildren live) and France. There's a flight everyday from Stanstead to Dinard and a boat every night from St Malo so it's really easy to get between the two countries, but the hardest one to leave is France!

Beautiful large house & garden in peaceful setting

We had a wonderful family holiday staying in this property. There was more than enough room for the 5 of us and lots of garden for our 3 children to run around in. Another family could have stayed with us and it wouldn't have felt too busy.

The house is spacious, well equipped & maintained to a high standard. We all fell in love with the garden and the woods around the house and really enjoyed wildlife spotting - I saw a deer and lots of red squirrels in the garden.

There are lots of lovely places to visit within 30 minutes drive, including the fantastic beaches of southern Brittany. I'd definitely recommend this property to a friend and would love to return.

A quiet location in a lovely area

The description of the property was accurate. The lounge is massive! As is the kitchen. It has a large garden and a sunny terrace. It was clean and well maintained, although the television flickered and the wifi was a little unpredictable. When we had a minor issue, we contacted the owner, who promptly got back to me. The nearby town of Vannes was lovely as was St Anne D'Auray. The nearby restaurant Au Coin de Feu near Pluvigner was excellent. This property was good value for money, and would be ideal for a large group or family.

Location

I bought this house because it reminded me of Zimbabwe. The field opposite was filled with ripe maze and the narrow quiet road outside led to the setting sun. The constant chorus of crickets felt reassuring. If there had been a couple of giraffes I wouldn't have been surprised - the bouncing deer were a good substitute for Impala though. Sitting out on the terrace, overlooking the garden and watching the sun go down is about as good as it gets. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Nearest Airport : Rennes, Nantes, Dinard at 122 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : St. Malo at 157 Kilometres Nearest Train : Auray at 15 Kilometres Nearest Beach : La Trinite, Carnac at 27 Kilometres

Coast/Beach:

Several beaches are within 30 minutes' drive: Carnac, Trinité sur Mer; or the Quiberon peninsula a little further. The utterly sweet historic port of Saint Goustan - a must - is closer than that, attached as it is to Auray. The ancient city of Vannes, and the Golfe de Vannes with its profusion of islands and sailing craft, both deservedly seduce any traveller with time to spare: they are all just over half an hour away.

Travel:

Dinard airport and Saint-Malo ferry port are within two hours; Caen and Cherbourg further. Rennes and Nantes an hour and a half.

Distances:

There is a small supermarket in Camors. Baud and Pluvigner, medium-sized market towns fifteen minutes away, provide everything that one needs to buy short of something one only finds in a city.

Further Details:

Pontivy, a major tourist centre and a distinguished town in its own right - its other name is Napoléonville - is 30-45 minutes' drive north on the D768. This is another day-trip not to be missed. Look out for the barge on the river Blavet as it runs through the town (you can't miss it): it is an efficiently run and very informative tourist centre.

It is also conveniently placed just off the D768 which is the road you need to be on to get anywhere. The coast is 20 miles away, an easy 30 mins drive to Carnac, and if the sea is not your bag every day, then there are the historic towns like Vannes and Auray with their exquisite ports and numerous restaurants. There is so much to see and do that two weeks wouldn't touch the surface - like other, you're sure to come back. The vibrant town of Pluvingner is only a few kilometres away and there you will find bars and resturants and street cafes.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property is situated by the side of an access road. A stream borders the garden. Most of the alfresco dining is done on the terrace, giving a very clear view of the garden. The garden slopes down towards the stream. Outside: There is a dining table on the terrace, with another available - possibly with some juggling of chairs - for use in the garden. Both seat at least 10. The property achieves its privacy not from fencing but by means of the space surrounding it: it is not overlooked. At the same time it is not isolated. It is of course possible to sunbathe in privacy on the south-facing. Other: In the two end bedrooms there are also two additional single beds that accompany the double. Unobtrusive in rooms so large, they nonetheless provide a haven for children who are too young to be separated from their parents.
