Great little house with lovely views.

  • 5 of 5

We were a small group of cyclist that took part in the recent Ras Donegal cycling event which was based in Ardara, We found this charming little house a perfect retreat to fully relax and unwind in at the end of some pretty spectacular and grueling stages that we took part in over the weekend. Both Tony and Maureen were very helpful and met us on the main road on a wet and windy night to show us to the cottage. The cottage itself was very well kitted out with a lovely open fire and plenty of well furnished bedrooms. This is the perfect place to relax and I could not recommend it highly enough. A truley beautiful part of Ireland.

holiday heaven

just back from our stay at your gorgeous cottage. The grandchildren loved every minute of the holiday. We went to the small beach every day and the bigger beach about 5 minutes away in the car, perfect for long walks and paddling for the kids. The cottage was very clean and well maintained, with beautiful views out of the lounge window. The neighbours were very nice too telling us about the good restuarants in Dungloe (riverside bistro) the food was very good. We went down to the local pub Elliots bar about 5-10 minutes away in the car the owners were very friendly and allowed the kids to go in too. We stayed a week and could of stayed longer. The area is good for walking and is very quiet and off the beaten track, just what you need for a relaxing holiday. We will be back!

Perfect place for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a week in this beautiful quiet area of Donegal. Very comfortable accommodation with superb views which can never fail to captivate. Reclining sofa placed by the picture window which looks out towards the little beach, sea and hills beyond. We could have spent all our time watching the changing scene as the tide went in and out, clouds formed in different patterns and sun set so dramatically. In fact we left the curtains open till midnight as it stays light for so long at this time of year. Equally lovely views all round the property with big windows making it very light. Good shower. The small kitchen area is well equipped. Heating great when needed and although we didn't light the fire, it would be cosy on a chilly evening. The beaches close by are fantastic. Lots of birds to spot including a resident cuckoo who delighted us with his courting displays on overhead wires. Also by the beach there were ringed plovers, common sand pipers, and probably warblers and pipits but our skill in distinguishing individual species needs to improve! If you can tear yourself away there is much to see in the surrounding area. We followed Maureen's tips and drove round to Crohy Head and to Glenveagh National Park. We also found the area round Portnoo very interesting but really whichever way you go there is wonderful scenery. We can also recommend the local garage Laughlin Motors, who were very helpful when we had some car trouble. Thanks Maureen for letting stay an extra night to sort everything out. Hope to be back to unwind again sometime!

Absolute Heaven Excellent

  • 5 of 5

What can I say except absolutely beautiful really was home from home (sorry Maureen your pictures online do not do your home justice it is absolutely beautiful and so spacious ). We are just back from Maureen & Tonys bungalow having spent Christmas their it was fantastic, Maureen sent us excellent directions along with plenty of info regarding needing groceries ie delivery services and local shops & snowfall guiding us to be carefull on the local roads on are journey down. When we arrived Maureen met us at the Gweebarra Bar and took us to her fab home she had went to so much trouble of having put up a lovely Christmas Tree (with prezzies for all of us including are dog under it) how thoughtful we were so delight and sincerely touched by their act of kindness and a blazing open fire was waiting on us. The beds were so comfortable (it's hard to get up in the morning) great cooking facilities and what a big bonus having a washing machine and an open fire. We all really enjoyed the country walks, beautiful beach walks and stopping of in Elliott's Bar for a great pint of Guinness served up by Daniel who was gr8 & really friendly made us feel at home by letting are 12 year old daughter have free Wi-Fi made her hols lol,the locals in the bar were fab too chatting away giving us great crack and again so down to earth and welcoming. We also used the Emo petrol station quite a bit and it had everything we needed from milk to a nice we bottle of wine (it's roughly 10 minute drive from the bungalow) we really can't wait to return again but definitely think we will have to book early Maureen was a fantastic host sorry we didn't get to meet Tony this time due to work commitments but look forward to seeing Maureen & meeting Tony in the very near future xxx :)

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Can't think of a better way to describe our holiday at Maureen and Tony's cottage than to say it felt like home. A beautiful cottage that housed my husband and I and out two adult children for two weeks. Plenty of room, beautifully presented. Pristine condition. Everything we needed. Fantastic views. Very close to a secluded beach. Great beach walks. Very friendly neighbours but still very private. Close enough to all amenities. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again next year - just hope we get our booking in before it becomes too popular!

Excellent Stay in Lettermackaward!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here from the 6th-9th September 2013. The Owners Tony and Maureen were fantastic, you couldn't wish to meet a friendlier couple. They met us in the local homely bar and gave us the rundown of the local area and answered all our questions. The house/cottage was perched on a small hill which meant the views from our windows were fantastic! The house was very clean and well presented and had everything we needed for our time there. We slept like logs as everything was so peaceful and the beds were really comfortable. There is a beautiful open fire which was stocked with peat and logs to burn for a romantic evening in whenever we fancied it. There is a small beach within 5 minutes walk and a larger beach a bit further on, 5 mins drive! Both safe for swimming and wonderfully clean. There is plenty to see and do in this county and the surrounding towns but at the same time if you wanted to come here and do nothing but eat, sleep, walk, swim and unwind then you will be in heaven for sure! Can't thank Tony and Maureen enough for their friendly welcome and local knowledge. We will go back for sure.
