Apartment in Olhos d'Agua, Albufeira area, Central Algarve, Portugal - Beautiful Location With Sea Views 1.5 Km Walk From Beach Via Road Or Through Orange Groves

My apartment is on the second floor in a new two floor complex. It is of modern design, spacious and light. There is an underground car park with reserved space. A very spacious balcony which can be accessed from all rooms has extra seating to enjoy the stunning view, with the sea in the distance, both day and night. There are electric shutters in all rooms. There is a large shared pool and children's pool in well maintained gardens. Pata Village is situated in Pata de Baixo which is approximately 1.5 km from the lovely large village, or small town, of Olhos d'Agua which means eye of water. Olhos d'Agua has a beautiful beach and wonderful beachside restaurants and cafes where you can sit and watch the fishermen bringing in their catch or mending their nets. Supermarkets and all the shops you could need are there. Olhos d'Agua is centrally placed between the much larger and bustling towns of Albufeira and Vilamoura, each about 10 minutes drive away.

Buying my little piece of Portugal was a big adventure. It's new (2010) with 2 bed, 2 bath and a huge balcony with panoramic views (yes, you can see the sea.) It is about 1.5 km from the old fishing village of Olhos d'Agua which has the best fish restaurant around, right on the beach which featured recently TV's A Place in the Sun. For addicts, beautiful golf courses abound, about 10 minutes from the apartment in any direction. Olhos has good supermarkets and a lovely covered market plus all other shops, restaurants and bars you could want. Watch the fishermen mending their boats at Olhos beach, whilst you eat fish soup in the sun at my favourite restaurant, O Caixote! Faro airport is about 30 minutes drive, car hire recommended (ask me about best hire company) but taxis are plentiful.

Why Caroline Smee chose Albufeira

I loved Olhos d'Agua the first time I went there. It has fabulous views, sea, beaches and totally stunning coastal walks. It still retains a feeling of the quaint fishing village, yet these days has everything a small town can offer. However, it is very close to the "action" if you want it, being centrally placed between the larger very lively towns of Albufeira and Vilamoura. Pata Village is a new 2 storey complex sitting in orange groves about 1.5 km on a slight rise above Olhos d'Agua. I am sure the wonderful smell of orange blossom in the Spring was instrumental in my decision to buy. Pata Village is in the tiny village of Pata de Baixo which has a few shops run by friendly local Portuguese. A bar, a small store with essential foods and household goods and a taxi rank.

What makes this apartment unique

Peace and relaxation are the key to a stay at Pata Village. It is perfectly located near enough to anywhere you may want to go yet has a "country" feel to it. The apartment is modern, light and airy with ample and comfortable seating both inside and out. Every meal can easily be eaten on the balcony overlooking the pool and that wonderful view. The gardens are spacious, but enclosed, so safer for children. There is a shared pool and children's pool. There is secure underground parking which saves your car from melting in the sun. Stairs lead directly up from the carpark to the apartment. The bedrooms and living room all have patio doors leading to the balcony and all rooms have electric shutters to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. There is also airconditioning and free wifi

Peaceful and friendly

I recently stayed at this apartment in pata Village with my children and my cousin and her daughter. On arrival at the apartment I was thrilled to see how clean, spacious and well equipped it was. Having two bathrooms was brilliant with the choice of bath and shower. (Ideal for the little one who loves his baths)

We arrived late but in the morning we were thrilled to see the large balcony and the views were stunning. Every morning we watched the farmer tending his crops and we often caught glimpses of the wildlife scurrying around the orange groves.

Pata Village itself is a peaceful place and the other guests and owners were very friendly.

We found the location to be ideal for the family with lots of peaceful beaches locally and the livelier evenings in Albufeira strip that my 14 year old enjoyed.

The best tip was to buy oranges from the road side sellers, they are amazing and at only 2 euros for 5 kilos they are an absolute bargain. (Just wish I could of brought some home).

We loved every bit of our holiday here and would definitely return again.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to beach. Olhos d'Agua beach is nearest and is large and sandy. It joins up with Falesia beach. It is quite possible to walk all the way to Albufeira on the beach.

Travel:

Nearest airport is Faro at 30 minutes drive. Car hire is definitely recommended though not essential. Taxis and buses easily available.
