Apartment 1b in the olivium apartments is a large one bedroom apartment set in the second of two buildings of six apartments in each block. They comprise a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments. A large swimming pool for the use of guests only is situated between the blocks. This apartment has its own terrace overlooking the swimming pool. The location is superb as it is within very easy reach of all the attractions that kalkan has to offer. Kalkan is ideal for those wishing to enjoy a peaceful and tranquil getaway in an idyllic location.

About the Owner

Janet & Frank first visited Kalkan in 2001, liked it immensely and on returning home immediately booked for the next year. We subsequently spent other holidays in following years. We could not resist buying the apartment when it was available on construction in 2005. This was mainly due to its central, convenient location . We ourselves return at least twice a year as we are both now retired.

Kalkan is not over commercialised like a lot of the bigger Turkish holiday destinations. It is quiet, friendly and the locals always remember you when you return. They are always offering a cup of turkish tea and a chat as you wander out and about. It is a fact, as we have asked many visitors the question and had it confirmed; that if you visit Kalkan once, you will always return again. I think that says it all about its appeal. If you do not believe us try it yourself. You will find that it is true!

The local beach is 10-12 minutes walk away to the east of the harbour area. The harbour has a mix of local small boats and gulets (traditional wooden turkish vessels) and charter yachts. Other beaches are available at Patara (17 klms. long), Kaputas (small but beautiful); and these can be reached by dolmus (local minibuses) for very little charge. You can be ferried by small boat from the harbour (free of charge) to Beach clubs (platform beaches) situated across Kalkan bay.


The nearest airport is Dalaman (120 klms.) and the transfer time is approx. 90 minutes. Hire cars are readily available should you wish to explore the area on a more personal basis; although there are many tour companies available to arrange trips to suit your preferences.


The Olivium apartments are very central to all the attractions that Kalkan has to offer. Breakfast/lunch/dinner is available within 2 minutes of the where you are staying. Kas is the nearest larger town and is approx. 25 klms. down the coast to the east and is worth a visit (dolmus again). The even larger harbour town of Fethiye is approx. 80 klms. to the west. This has a large market where you can bargain for virtually any item that takes your fancy.

Further Details:

Kalkan is in the ancient area of Lycia and is steeped in history. Alexander the Great and the Romans have been here in centuries past. The major walking trail the Lycian Way transverses this region. Should you be hiker, many paths are available, although walking trainers/boots should be used. The mountain village of Bezirgan can be reached by dolmus or even walked to if you are fit and do not mind going up steep paths. The village has changed little for generations and is a marked contrast to Kalkan itself being in a valley between mountains. The number and variety of restaurants in Kalkan is incredible. You will never sample them all. Those nearest to the harbour are more expensive, but there is availability to suit all means. Being on the coast fresh caught fish is readily available. Should you wish to self cater on your holiday, all you require from supermarkets, butchers, fruit and veg. shops etc. is all within easy reach and everything is fresh and locally grown . Don't miss the local bread, (many varieties) cooked and delivered daily. Also do not miss the opportunity to sample the local speciality of pides (Turkish pizza), cooked to order in wood ovens. They are inexpensive and popular with the locals; always a good sign. There are many historical and signature attractions easily reached such as the sunken city of Kekova, the amphitheatre at Xanthos and Saklikent Gorge. Day boating trips are available from the harbour. Out at 10 o'clock in the morning back about 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Spend the day lazing on a gulet, swimming in the crystal clear water in the small bays that you will be taken to, soaking up the sunshine and having your lunch cooked and eaten on the boat whilst anchored. It is astounding the delicious food that is provided. Alcoholic drinks are available at a small extra charge. Just walk down to the harbour and pick a boat that suits your needs. They range in size to cater for all numbers. Be as lazy or active as you wish.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is flexible according to availability of dates.

Notes on prices:
A discount of 15% is available on quoted prices if booking for two weeks or more.

Rental prices for dates not covered are available on request.

Booking is confirmed on receipt of a deposit of £100. Balance of payment due 8 weeks prior to date of commencement of holiday. Payment by cheque in name of J. House and sent to 5, Penhurst Road, Havant, Hants. PO9 3NX.

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment has only one bedroom, but can sleep four at maximum by utilising the sofa bed. It is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, hair dryer and iron. The table and chairs in the dining area can easily be transferred to the terrace for dining 'al fresco'. Outside: As stated this apartment has the added benefit of its own terrace which overlooks the large swimming pool shared by the apartments guests. The pool is cleaned and checked every day. Bougainvillea climbing shrubs adorn the front and side walls of the apartment and there is a small garden to the side at the far end of the terrace. 4 sun loungers are available for the use of guests together with a parasol and outdoor chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are included. All are changed weekly and the apartment is cleaned to the same schedule. Welcome pack on arrival
