Cottage in St Ives, Cornwall, England - Yards From Harbour Beach And 5 Mins From Porthgwidden And Porthmeor Beaches

Southern comfort ,self catering holiday cottage is ideally located in the popular downalong area of st ives.The harbour beach is yards away and it is only a couple of minutes to Porthmeor & Porthgwiddon beaches, and convenient for the Tate and all the shops and restaurants.

This pretty holiday cottage has been fully restored still maintaining its charm and antique character. Comfortably furnished and equipped to a very high standard, with a range of antique and vintage furniture. Comfortable living room with wood burning stove, lcd tv with freeview and dvd. South facing sunny master bedroom with king size sleigh bed, white company bed linen, quilts and throws.

Light and airy twin bedroom. Wifi. Home from home with some toys, games, lots of dvd’s and plenty of books to read. Kitchen dining room, well equipped including washer drier. Ipod dock in kitchen. Sunny front patio with bench and 2 chairsfurther access from rear of property with area for wetsuits, boards and washing line.

I would love to welcome you to Southern Comfort, it is a happy cosy place with a great ambience, but please take note: The cottage is at its most recent addition Victorian and is not a modern house inside an old shell. There are many fantastic original features; the lovely window seat, gorgeously curving bannister rail, funny little larder cupboard set into the granite wall. However the reality of this authenticity is that some things are a bit old -creaky floorboards, wonky skirting. The bathroom and kitchen are kept clean to a very high standard but are not modern as this would not be in keeping. I have tried to show as much as possible.

Had a fantastic holiday, excellent location, spotlessly clean house. Very comfy beds. Would definitely recommend. Overall lovely cosy house and can't wait to revisit.

We first visited St Ives in 1995 on our first romantic break away together! Since then we've got married, had 2 children and visited many times, always hoping one day we'd be lucky enough to actually have our own place in St Ives. In May 2010 our dream became reality - after trailing around many properties - with high hopes often dashed, just as we were about to head home the estate agent mentioned a new property that had just come onto their books and since the last one had been so wrong we might just be able to squeeze in a viewing. We knew as we walked through the door that this was the one. Perfectly located near everything, with a pretty little space outside and welcoming and cozy inside.

Activity and Interests


5 minutes to Porthmeor beach (walking) - fantastic surfing beach, life guarded from Whitsun to October half term. 2 minutes to harbour (walking). 5 minutes to Porthgwidden beach (walking) - small beach with restaurant behind the island. 15 minutes to Pothminster beach (walking) - stunning family beach with gentle waves and award winning restaurant.


St. Ives railway station is less than 10 minutes walk to Ocean Loft as is the bus station. Nearest airport - Newquay (approx 1 hour driving time).


100 yards to Wharf and about 200yards to town centre

Southern Comfort is our home from home, and that means that s not just another commercial property you'll be visiting where everything is done with an eye for the bottom line. It's important that the beds must be comfortable. The bed linen must be crisp and white. Attractive bedspreads and lambswool throws, because we all have different tolerances to the cold. Characterful furniture to compliment the cottage, which may mean things keep changing as we make a new find. Books, films and ornaments that come from our home and games for rainy days, books and toys for children. Decent knives in the kitchen, a cafetiere and a blender. A picnic bag and Tupperware for your use and a bottle of wine on your arrival. We've even added a Chromecast so you can stream content from the internet onto the TV. Location, we are in a great central location.

Outside: Sunny front patio with bench, two chairs and small table, potted plants. Rear, private area with washing line and storage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen is included, fresh every week. Southern Comfort is cleaned thoroughly before your stay, and you get a partial clean midway for 2 week stays.
