About the Owner

David was born in Cornwall and has happy memories of family holidays in the area. We bought the barn when our children were teenagers, having moved on from the bucket and spade phase to discovering the delights of surfing and body boarding! David is a keen dinghy sailor and enjoys messing around on the water. Chris is a teacher and loves the dramatic scenery and walks of the Cornish coastline, as well as trips to the open air Minac Theatre at Porthcurno.

The cottage was lovely and clean and fresh! Stunning views out towards garden, located in a lovely quiet setting and literally 5 minutes drive from padstow.

Will not hesitate to stay here again.

Lovely cottage in peaceful location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely few days here in April. The cottage is well equipped and nicely presented with amazing views of the countryside. The cottage is located approx 1 mile from Padstow so very convenient whilst also being in a quiet and peaceful location.

well equipped and comfortable accomodation

The accommodation was just as advertised. Four of us had a very enjoyable weekend staying there. The accommodation provided everything we needed and was comfortable and warm. We will hopefully be returning there later this year

Just lovely.

  • 5 of 5

We came to Tregella at the end of February, my daughter and I who is two in April just the two of us - so bound to be an adventure! The cottage was easy to find and it was so lovely to get to the top of the drive and see that the cottages awaited at the bottom of the lane. Although there are numerous properties (as you can tell from the pictures) it felt very spacious still as the property over looks the field. You felt as if in the middle of no where when in fact you're merely a few minutes drive from the Petrol garage and Tesco (both of which are brilliant sources of wood for the fire!) and the middle of Padstow in all it's glory. Despite being only the two of us I felt very safe and settled in the cottage. We managed to fit in "The seven bays for seven days" into a day and a half - albeit briefly! The log burner was such bliss when we got back from the beach and settled in for the evening. The fact that I didn't have to leave the comfort of the fire to make tea was again a luxury. The garden was perfect for my little one to explore and, if I was relieved from rolling balls down the slope duty, I could watch from the seat by the door. The bedding was lovely and clean. The owners as helpful as can be, even responding quickly to my queries whilst at the cottage. Overall a fantastic "home from home" base that we would love to visit again. Over and over.

Thank you so much David and Chris for sharing your holiday home with us. We hope to book with you again.

Very comfortable, excellent value short stay

  • 5 of 5

A very nicely done barn conversion, one of several properties in a courtyard at Tregella Farm. Everything you could possibly need, very helpful owners and lots of information in advance which was great. A quiet rural spot a mile or two from Padstow, you really need a car, though we did walk through country lanes and fields into the town or to Tesco which was nice - about 45 minutes or so into the town. Would definitely stay there again. Overall fantastic value for a short stay.

Owner's Response: We're glad to hear that Tregella is the retreat that guests deserve. Padstow is fascinating with it's harbour, bustling shops and tiny back streets - but at the end of the day it's good to relax somewhere quiet in rural surroundings.

From the Owner

As an architect, David was attracted to the barn because of its double height, open plan living area and its original exposed beams. Its slighty sunken south facing garden is a sun trap. The peaceful location is an ideal retreat from busy Padstow, but close enough to feel part of it too. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have!

From the Owner

Although Cornwall is thought of as a Summer vacation, our wood burning stove makes it a cosy Winter retreat. During the shoulder season the barn can be booked for long weekends - ideal for walks on deserted beaches and sampling local pubs. We also accept dogs for an additional fee of £20.
