We are a British - British Indian family who have been living in Hong Kong (and other Asian locations) for the past 17 years. Viral works in investment banking and Catherine was the managing director of a marketing research company before retiring to take care of our 4 young children.

Why Catherine Gathani chose Phuket
We holidayed in Phuket a number of times during our early years in Hong Kong and Singapore but it was when we we took a one year sabbatical here in 2003 that we fell in love with the place and decided to buy a holiday home here. We bought an apartment in Maan Tawan (the sister estate of Chom Tawan) when it was a green field site back in 2003 and have taken our family holidays here at least 7 weeks per year since that apartment was built. Neither we nor our children ever tire of spending time in Phuket. We bought our Chom Tawan apartment a few years later, having been convinced of how special the place was.
What makes this apartment unique
What makes this place so special is the location. There are many apartments set back in the hills behind Bangtao but no other estate provides this proximity to the beach. To be able to sit on the terrace listening to the sea and to have such a fabulous sweep of golden sand within a few minutes walk is a real treat. It has been a pleasure to watch the development of the area since we first bought our homes here - the beautiful uncrowded beaches and simple Thai restaurants we first fell in love with remain, but we also appreciate the more recent introductions (stylish beach clubs, international style bakeries etc.) nearby.

Activity and Interests
The uncrowded north end of the 6 km long Bangtao beach is about a 3 minutes walk from the apartment. Here you will enjoy a sense of peace and space - away from the crowds found on some other beaches (and on the South end of Bangtao). Even in peak weeks you can often have a wide stretch of the beach to yourself....but still find the convenience of a beach bar with half a dozen sunbeds for hire.
The apartment is around 20 mins drive south from Phuket airport.
You can travel from the airport by taxi or hire a car.
We would recommend car hire for greater flexibility during your stay but it is not essential if you are happy to use taxis for shopping/sightseeing. Several nearby restaurants offer free transport services.
We are happy to help with car hire if required.
Restaurants: 10 minutes walk along the beach or road to the nearest beachfront Thai restaurants. 5-10 minutes drive to a wider range of international restaurants in Cherng Talay (many offer free transport service).
Shopping: 5 minutes drive to the nearest small supermarket (just outside the entrance to Laguna) and a couple of great bakeries, 15 mins drive to the nearest Tesco Lotus supermarket (either in Surin or Thalang) and 30 minutes drive to the large Central Festival shopping mall.
This end of Phuket is the hub of 5-star tourism, expat residential homes and high end holiday homes. It makes an ideal holiday base for families and couples with a great range of facilities and activities within easy reach, including: fabulous beaches, snorkeling, laid-back bars for beachside sundowners, seafood restaurants, fine dining restaurants, elephant riding, horse riding, world class golf, mini-golf for kids, 5-star spas and beachside massage huts.

Daily rates are in US$ and based on a maximum of 6 guests. Up to 2 further guests may be accommodated by prior agreement (subject to additional cost).
Discounts for bookings of 7 nights or more.
A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking, the remaining 75% is payable 6 weeks prior to your arrival.
A refundable security deposit of US$300 is also required (as insurance against significant damage to furnishings and fittings).
Payment can be made in other currencies by arrangement.
Changeover day is normally Saturday, but can be flexible.

- Outside: The living room and all three bedrooms have direct access onto terraces. The front terrace opens onto a spacious lawned section of the estate gardens, immediately facing the sea, which provides an ideal area for children to play safely, or for adults to dine or enjoy a sunset drink. The communal pool (25m swimming pool and large gently sloping children's paddling pool) are a short walk through the grounds. Adjacent to the pool is the CBRE site management office, staffed by a helpful English-speaking team. Utility Room: The separate utility room houses a washing machine, sink with hot and cold water, clothes dryng rack, drinking water dispenser, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: A generous supply of bed linens and bathroom and pool towels is included. Maid service 2-3 times per week (daily service by arrangement). Other: Wireless internet access throughout the apartment (free of charge).
