About louise Parr

I live here in Spain and love the area and the fact that it is still traditionally Spanish. What attracted us to this part of Spain was the amazing scenery and of course the tapas!

louise Parr purchased this cottage in 2007

Why louise Parr chose Granada Province (Costa Tropical)

The house is in really quiet street and so close to the shops and bars. The property was once a small fruit shop many years ago and is full of character and charm.

The main reason why we bought this house was because we really loved the fact that it had a garden.

What makes this cottage unique

Being able to wander into town and sit on the square in the sun in the afternoon for a few drinks and tapas. There are also many fiestas in the town were everyone dresses up and enjoys the festivities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have had a lovely time here in Alhama, the house has been perfect . We have enjoyed the bars on square and had some great nights in Ocha !

The welcome pack was much appreciated ..thanks you !

Peaceful quaint cottage in a traditional Spanish village

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this homely cottage. It is packed with original features and character. The welcome pack was very enjoyable. The bed was comfortable. The patio garden was a peaceful retreat with plenty of sunshine yet also areas where we had the chance to get some shade.

The village is a very friendly place with some interesting historical features. The gorge is awesome The tapas bars were great. We particularly enjoyed Bar Andaluz. We will definitely recommend this place as an alternative to a seaside break.

Great house in a great town!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the house with my wife and 2 teenage kids for 12 days in July. The house, located in the old part of the town, is comfortable and clean and had all the amenities we needed. There is plenty of space and also a great, very private outdoor area, which is perfect for chilling out with a glass of wine and a good book. A real suntrap too. Inside, the house stays cool during the day because the walls are so thick, which is nice. The house is within 5 minutes walk from one of the town squares, where there is a good selection of bars and restaurants. There are other squares a little further walk away. Plenty of choice of places to eat and drink. We loved the town. The location, perched on the edge of the gorge, which you must explore, is spectacular. Lots of little windy streets, and a tremendous history also. Has a real laid back atmosphere and isn't busy with tourists, mostly Spanish folk, which was a real plus. Evenings out are fairly busy around the squares and the atmosphere is great. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Free tapas every time you buy a drink, day and night! Some evenings we never even bought a meal because we were so full from all the tapas. Visited several places during our stay including the Alhambra in Granada, about 45 minutes drive away, which was amazing. The lake at Bermejales, about 15 minutes drive, is fantastic for swimming and soaking up the sun. The location is stunning. I have never seen water that looked that colour before. Terrific big pool and restaurant within 10 minutes drive from the town, called Pato Loco. Spent a few glorious sunny days there just chilling and swimming and eating. Wasn't too busy either. They do a great deal there on weekdays. 3 course menu of the day and all day swimming for 11 euros each. Unbeatable value! Lovely meal and great facilities, although the prices around the towns establishments were also very reasonable. All in all we had a fantastic holiday. If you're looking for a more traditional relaxing Spanish location with spectacular scenery, some sites to visit and you don't want to just flop out on a beach all day, then this could be for you. If you want a Spanish holiday with loud nightclubs and raucous night time action then stay away. The owner Louise was very helpful with her info and directions etc. Also, there was a welcome pack with some essentials when we arrived which was nice. Would definitely recommend a visit and we hope to return some day.

House in Alhama de Granada

  • 4 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at the house, and would recommend staying at Alhama de Granada.

The house is lovely with everything you need, with the added bonus of a lovely,

private garden - a real sun trap.

The welcome pack left by Louise was a

lovely touch, and much appreciated.

The location of the house is perfect, only

a short walk from the square, where there

are lots of bars and restaurants.

Lovely stay in Alhama

  • 5 of 5

Warm welcome from Louise at the house, which was exactly as described. Well equipped with everything we needed and lots of character too. Back garden was a bonus to sit out with a drink. The house is in a great location, only minutes from lots of great tapas bars. The walk along the gorge was tremendous and the town so interesting we will definately be back for another stay. many thanks, we will be recommending the house to family and friends.

delightful and just what we hoped for

  • 5 of 5

Louise was spot on when she described her lovely house in Alhama, we loved it. Everything we wanted was here and more besides. She couldn't convey the ambience though, the feeling when we walked into the living room and the way it just nestles between the adjacent houses gives it a special air of peace and happiness that's tangible. Sometimes we were reluctant to leave the little garden after having our breakfast there. Alhama is very interesting don't forget to buy a whistling jug from the ceramics shop on the left of the Church in the old part and try to find the bar that has half a pig roasting behind the bar which the owner carves your tapas off.. Having the National Park minutes away was a bonus, we counted so many flowers and herbs, and birds, to see peony roses growing wild next to rosemary and thyme was jaw dropping. We even went to the Arab baths, which I thought were going to be quite basic as they were in the caves, but think again, my husband had the best massage he has ever experienced whilst I relaxed in the hot pool. Thanks for letting us share a bit of authentic Spain, Louise, we certainly will be back again.
