Cottage in Padstow, Cornwall - Less Than 2 Mins.To The Picturesque Harbour

Located centrally in the town the house has excellent facilities, it is comfortable and suitable for all times of the year. The open plan ground floor is adaptable as it has glazed doors which can enclose the sitting room area. The house is central to all the excellent resturaunts, shops, galleries etc. There is a small peaceful attractive garden in which to retreat if the town is very busy. The very picturesque harbour with trawlers yachts and dingys provides a great deal of interest, boats are available to hire from the harbour for fishing sailing and estuary trips. The passenger ferry and night water taxi operate to Rock across the Camel Estuary where there additional interests and attractions. As it is a busy town,there is only loading outside the house during the day. There is one reserved space in a locked car park for guests use and several public car parks within easy reach of the house for additional vehicles.

About the Owner

We bought the house in Padstow in 1988 and gradually renovated it. Primarily it is a family holiday home which has been enjoyed by us all for many years, in all seasons. Our adult children now enjoy it with their friends. We hope that all the many guests who have rented the house have had as much pleasure from it, and will continue to do so.

When we bought our house in 1988, it had belonged to a well known Padstow family, the Prideaux Brunes, who own the beautiful house at the top of the town, Prideaux Place. We decided that a centrally located house would be more fun for our young family, as it proved to be. It is of course now so well situated for some of the best resturaunts in the country. Despite the "town" location the garden is like a peacful haven and a sun trap. Many people stay in our house content not to use their car throughout the week. Within 20 minutes drive from the house there are Seven different beaches for surfing. The estuary supports super wind surfing facilities, there is a water sking school and sailing school across on the ferry at Rock.

Coast/Beach:

The house is 5 Mins walk from the coast path on the Padstow estuary and the beach, at low tide it is possible to walk for over a mile on clean fresh sand. There are Seven bays in the area with large surfing beaches, the furthest drive to these would be 20 mins. From Padstow across the camel estuary by ferry is another long strand of sand further restaurants pubs etc and another surfing beach at Damar Bay.

Distances:

The house is very close to a well stocked corner shop excellent bakery and fish shop. There is a supermarket aproximately 1 mile away (15 mins. walk) and an excellent farm shop 10 mins drive. Wadebridge the next town is 6 mls. The cathedral City of Truro is 40mins drive,the south coast of Cornwall is less than an hours drive.

Further Details:

There are numerous activities , visitor sights and places of interest in Cornwall, the house has a large quantity of information for visitors and the Tourist Information Office is near by. Within the town and across the estuary there two Michellin Star restaurants amongst many other excellent places to eat. There is easy access to banks etc from the house plenty of shops the National Lobster Hatchery; crab fishing for children - and adults too in the harbour. Water skiing, surfing. board sailing and dingy sailing lessons all available locally. The Camel cycling trail runs from Padstow to Bodmin and cycles are available for hire.

Booking Notes:
To make a booking please email or telephone. If available the week will be held for you pending the reciept of a booking form and 25 % deposit. The balance will be due 6 weeks before the begining of your holiday. Late bookings have to be paid in full. NB off season - winter rates are on request charges on a basis of per person per night.
We do not request a damage deposit but we reserve the right to charge for major damage or loss to items from the contents of the property , or to the property itself.

Changeover Day:
THE CHANGEOVER DAY IS MONDAY. THIS MAY BE FLEXIBLE IN THE WINTER LOW SEASON MONTHS. YOU HAVE TO ARRIVE AFTER 2PM AND VACATE THE PROPERTY 10AM.

A 25%deposit is payable to secure booking. Remaining payment and charge for dogs payable 6 weeks prior to departure

Well located for walking; within a few minutes we can be on a dog friendly beach, the coast path, or footpaths across fields in open country with stunning views. The house is situated 2 minutes from the harbour where the fishing boats, yachts and sailing dingys are all moored. There are numerous boats for hire for fishing, pleasure etc. It is also possible to launch your own boat from the slip way too. Being centrally located there numerous places to eat any type of meal at virtually any time. From Padstow there is a cycle trail with hire facilities that is totally off road, flat and easy for all ages to cycle to Wadebridge (6 mls.) and on to Bodimn (12 mls.) for the more intrepid. There are 3 renowned golf courses within easy reach of Padstow along with 6 beautiful beaches within 6 miles

  • Notes on accommodation: The house was completely renovated on the ground floor in 2012 and has underfloor heating.There is night storage heating throughout the property and a gas open flame fire in the sitting room area. Padstow is a dog friendly area. Dogs are welcome at the property for a small additional charge but they are expected to remain on the ground floor and not allowed on the furniture. Owners are expected at all times to leave the garden clean. There is a gate at the top of the stairs to assist in the control of dogs. This is not a child safety gate. It is possible to hire all baby equipment that will be delivered to and collected from the house further details from the owner. Outside: The peaceful secluded garden at the rear of the property has a flat paved area, attractive flower borders herbs etc. wooden garden furniture and deck chairs. There is a BBQ and a Chiminea, an outside shower for the intrepid, dogs and wet suits, also a traditional WC and long washing line. It is a suntrap and a very pleasant place to relax away from the busy life elsewhere, and very comfortable for alfresco eating. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The house is cleaned weekly, always prior to guests arrival by our locally resident caretaker. Linen is not provided. A chargeable linen hire service can be arranged details on request from the owner.Hand and tea towels are supplied for the kitchens.
