Villa in La Cruz de Algaida, Nr Lake Iznajar, Cordoba Region Andalucia, Spain - Set In A Sleepy Hamlet, Close To The Magnificent Lake Of Historic Iznajar And Its Beaches And Bars

After eight years of renovation an ancient house has been brought back to life combining modern convenience with traditional Spanish architectural detail, ensuring the character of the house has lost none of it charm, striking interiors and sense of history. The house takes its name from a nearby freshwater spring that was used by the village for hundreds of years until mains water arrived in the early seventies. Because the old house like so many was built into the side of the valley there are three terraces.The vine terrace has a natural roof made by grape vines growing across its length and breadth while a flight of steps climbs up to the sunset terrace where the evening can be spent watching the transition from day to starry night. The pool terrace gives access to a landscaped garden planted with aromatic flowers and bushes In summer it’s the centre of life with its sun loungers garden pergola, parasols and the freshness of the spring water that fills the pool. The house is beautifully decorated, detailed and furnished giving each room a distinct identity.

About J Krachai

We bought the house in its ruined state as a gift for our children. Having renovated our Spanish home we wanted to preserve another property but this time undertake much of the work ourselves. The house in its finished state is a testament to craftsmanship and a precise eye for detail. Every door, window, and shutter has been made by hand using the finest materials. Making this house was a slow and painstaking process but more importantly it was a labour of love.

Notes on accommodation: The house is very old with original moorish features. Each space has been renovated following Andalucian traditions relevent to the use of wall and floor tiling and decorative ironwork. The bedrooms have their own distinctive decorative themes reflecting the character of the house and the locality. Two of the first floor bedrooms have their own olive wood burning stoves. All art work in the house consists of originals by Spanish and English painters and photographers.Mirrors throughout the house reflect the light when the shuttered windows are open. The house is also equipped for infants with cots, high chairs, toys, books, DVD's and games available. There are internal and external safety gates for use when small children and toddlers are in the house. Outside: Located down a very quiet country lane, the front door opens up into a secluded garden complete with three terraces: the sunset, vine and pool terraces. The vine terrace is shaded by old grape vines providing a wonderful breakfast and dining area. The sunset terrace has a sofa and arm chairs and is ideal for relaxing and watching the transition from day to starry night. The pool terrace gives access to a landscaped and planted garden. At night the garden and the pool terrace can be floodlit The exterior of the house comes equipped with: Secure covered parking for two cars Outdoor dining table and chairs on the vine terrace Sun loungers, parasol and chairs on the pool terrace Olive wood BBQ Lounge area complete with rattan sofa, armchairs and coffee table on the sunset terrace Outdoor table tennis A covered pergola shading the table tennis table Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, pool towels and high quality blankets and bed linen are provided. During longer stays bed linen and towels are changed weekly and the bathrooms cleaned at no extra cost. The pool is checked and cleaned twice a week.

Brilliant!

A little piece of heaven on earth! All in Casa Fuente was as promised and much more. Beautiful setting in a most beautiful unspoilt area of Spain. Easy access to Grenada, Cordoba, Seville and all areas in between. The lake at Iznajar is a wonderful place to sit beside, paddle / swim in. Gazing at the Milky Way, planets and nebulae from the sun terrace was a perfect way to end each glorious day! Our hosts Jackie and John were kind, attentive, a font of local knowledge and feel like new found friends. Thank you for allowing us to borrow your special Casa for two very short weeks.

A beautiful idyll in rural Andalucia

If you are looking for tranquility, charm and comfort then Casa Fuente Moyana offers this and so much more. We feel ourselves very lucky to have been able to stay in the wonderful home that the fabulous owners have lovingly created. I am sure that time stood still whilst we were there as it was so calm and peaceful. The only sounds to be heard were the chatter of birds and that of the farmers toiling in the olive groves. The house, garden and pool were exactly as depicted in the photographs and so well cared for.

It is a great base from which to explore the cultural centres of Granada, Cordoba and Seville. Iznajar and the surrounding area offers you a taste of the real Spain and is as far removed from the crowds of tourists, that flock to the Costa's, as you can imagine.

There are some fabulous restaurants within a short drive and the owners kindly provide you with a list of them to go and try. The owners were so helpful and offered us lots of tips and advice on the area, they were always at the other end of a text or phone call if we needed them.

The house is ideal for couples wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday or families who want to spend quality time together.

We will return here the next time we need to unwind, recharge our batteries and feel closer to nature.

This villa had everything promised and more, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The nearby lake was great for the children and the perfect location meant that all the major sites were within driving distance. The villa provided every comfort and was so peaceful and the stars at night were magnificent. The villa had great character we ate grapes from the vine and cooked gorgeous Mediterranean vegetables from the owners garden.

Fabulous villa set in olive groves

Wonderful villa if you like to sample the 'real Spain'. Nestled amongst olive groves and beautifully decorated and furnished in Spanish/moorish style. Great location for visiting Cordoba, Granada and Malaga and beach at Lake Iznajar nearby. Super pool filled with fresh Spring water.

Special interest holidays:

The house is ideally located for visits to the world-renowned cities of Corboba, Sevilla and Granada. It is also an hours drive away from a large number of beach destinations on the Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical. A popular feature of the house are the 'Nights to Remember' which feature a four course Andalucian dinner cooked by local people, a performance by one of the regions most acomplished Flamenco singers and a demonstration of the sevilliana, a traditional dance These have proved very popular and are extremely economic given the quality of the food and range of unique experiences encountered in what can a very exciting and satisfying evening and night.

Coast/Beach:

The house is a ten minute drive away from one of Andalucia's largest water courses. The water covers an area of over 40 sq kilometers and benefits from a number of beaches that are popular with tourists and locals. The beaches and lake are clean and ideal for paddling and swimming. There are a number of bars and restaurants overlooking the lake.

Travel:

A car is essential and easily obtained from the main airport of the region which is Malaga just an hours drive away. Sevilla airport also has extensive car hire facilities and is a two and a half hour drive from the house. Granada airport is 45 minutes drive.

Distances:

The most extensive shopping locations (particularly for food and drink) are Archidona (20 min drive), Rute (30 min drive), Lucena and Antequera (40 min drive). Iznajar the main waterfront town is fifteen minutes away and has a range of shops that provide basic needs. Places of cultural and historic interest are too numerous to mention but if so desired guests can visit a new destination, town, village, national park, mountain range daily for well over a month.

Further Details:

The area of central Andalucia in which the house is situated is, unlike the coastal provinces, not visited by many tourists and is therefore unspoilt. It has an excellent infrastructure of well maintained roads and local train services and wonderful resturants that provide authentic Spanish country cooking whether for a full dinner, lunch or tapas. Supermarkets particularly the Mercadona brand sell quality foodstuffs that are locally sourced. Every supermarket has an excellent fish counter. In each of the local towns there are daily covered markets and weekly outdoor ones. In shops, tourist offices, markets, banks and eating places the service is usually very good with local people being extremely helpful and actually interested in visitors and where they come from.
