Avery House has recently been renovated to a extremely high standard. Open fires, loft style living accommodation and an amazing garden. The house is split over three levels. The ground level is open plan with an fantastic central kitchen, beautiful dining space plus TV area, and a relaxing garden room which leads onto a super patio for alfresco eating. Upstairs there are 6 double size bedrooms and the master bedroom with en-suite is a large bright and spacious room of 12m x 12m with its own balcony.

We moved to Lostwithiel from London in 2006. We just love the historic town which has a beautiful river running through it. Great for kids to play in and you can relax by the river. It has a direct train link from London and stops in lostwithiel every hour. You will have so much fun.

What makes this house unique

Avery House is walking distance to one of Cornwall's top restaurents - The Trewithen. The town has 5 really great pubs and local entertainment

I just wanted to let you know how much we all loved staying in your beautiful home . Everyone of us agreed that we couldn't have chosen anywhere more suitable to our tastes. My daughter loved all your artefacts and we were all so impressed with that all the house and the surrounding area has to offer . I really wanted to write in the visitors book but unfortunately the cleaners were waiting to get in on our departure day so I didn't get chance.

An idyllic and relaxing family holiday.

From the moment we opened the door to this beautiful home - I say home because from the minute we arrived at Avery house, it felt like home. Simply stunning!

We spent a week here in May with our 3-year-old and I don’t think we’ve ever felt so relaxed on holiday before.

The property itself is so thoughtfully and imaginatively decorated and has everything you need no matter how long your stay. Space, light, air and style - it has it all.

From the spacious entrance hall, you move into the gorgeous ground floor, open plan living area, along with games room. Perfectly decorated, you can tell the owners have really put their minds and personality into making this a home and not a holiday let.

There is a beautifully decorated sitting room area with a TV, DVD player and plenty of DVDs are provided. There are magazines and books which fill the bookshelves - not just for show. Whatever your taste you’ll find something to interest you while looking out at the huge garden and views of the rooftops of this picture-perfect village.

There are provisions provided with an honesty box to contribute and replace in this amazing kitchen area – the array of recipes and cookery books. You won’t feel the need to go out when the best available seat is right in front of you in the coolly designed dining area all lit by the baked bean can light shades. Everything you need is at your fingertips.

Make sure you open a drawer or a cupboard and you will find games, more books and maybe even the disco ball - the owners have literally thought of every kind of appetite no matter how you choose to relax or party!

The first floor main bedroom is just amazing. The space is huge with a gorgeous seating area inside to enjoy a morning coffee overlooking the beautiful views, or a balcony to enjoy the morning sunshine. The bed is immense, super comfortable and the ensuite bathroom is modern and contemporary. The decor is wonderful - stripy deck chairs, storage baskets and even your own seafront bench gives Cornwall a touch of style and edge.

There are another three bedrooms and a large bathroom so there is no need to worry about people old or young.

Up to the next floor, the splendor continues with another large double bedroom with sofa, walk in shower, separate toilet and additional bedroom with two single beds. Again, so well thought out with the guest experience at the heart of the owners. Can't wait to visit again.

This house is a great place for a large family get together.

The house worked really well for our family - 10 adults and 2 children. The living area is huge and open plan with kitchen, dining and 2 lounge areas. There are doors from here out into the large garden with seating for everyone. It's obviously a family home with loads of interesting books, (which we all enjoyed) toys, and everything else you would expect. (Although we did have to buy some oven gloves which was a bit annoying) Very useful having a drinks fridge as there wasn't much room in the fridge freezer. Beds were really comfortable, bathrooms ok..

We've had a fab week - Easter egg hunt - games of sardines - exploring and relaxing. Our favourite beach is Polkerris - we were lucky enough to have a perfect beach weather day in April!

Modern, clean, lots of open space - wonderful place to stay

We stayed here for a week over Christmas. We had between 10-12 people staying at any one time including an 18 month old baby. When we first arrived, we were gobsmacked by the house...it had been decorated for Christmas and we were greeted with huge multi-coloured pom poms and fairy lights hanging in the hallway and two Christmas trees in the living/diner. It was a wonderful surprise!

The house was huge and our 18 month old had the time of his life running around and making the most of all that space. A cot and highchair were provided which was very helpful. The master bedroom was enormous and the bed so comfortable. The kitchen had everything you would need, although some feedback...some weighing scales would have been helpful. The kitchen pantry had some essential items which were useful and the fridge was definitely spacious enough to fit food for 12 people. The pantry also has a drinks fridge which freed up space in the main fridge freezer.

Some more feedback...towels were meant to be included but there were none in the rooms so we had to look in the hallway cupboards. We found some but there were only just enough for us, a couple had to use hand towels as bath/shower towels which wasn't ideal but not a massive problem. We also found that the shared bathroom on the first floor flooded as it didn't have a 'lip' on the tray so during a shower the water went everywhere. Ken was really responsive and quickly fixed a broken lock in the house, excellent service considering it was Christmas eve!

I won't hesitate to recommend Avery House to others. This was the first time our whole family had been together in three years - Avery House didn't disappoint in providing us with a truly wonderful place to celebrate Christmas. Thank you Anita & Ken.

Avery House is an interesting modern and comfortable house with plenty of space for our family of 12

Avery House seemed very modern, clean and spacious and the owners had obviously invested in the design and style of the house but possibly at the expense of some practical aspects, like no door to the top bedroom and no opening windows to the master bedroom apart from a door which in the hot weather was a bit of a drawback especially as the cat tried to get in; the kitchen was large and modern but lacked key facilities like enough fridge capacity for 12 people and a draining board; no doors or curtains to the showers so the floors got very wet, the one in the shared bathroom particularly as the shower tray wasn't deep enough and water spilled onto the floor.

However there was plenty of space for the family, adults and children to spread out around the living space without getting on top of each other. We enjoyed the garden and the barbecue and being able to eat outside especially as the weather was so good. A local cat seemed to think it lived there and we had to keep the door shut a lot when we would really have wanted it open in the warm weather as there was no other window along the back to open - plenty of roof lights though over the dining area.

We had a wonderful week and enjoyed the shops and the river in Lostwithiel - a charming place. We had a very good Sunday lunch in the local pub, the Globe Inn. The only place we visited that was any distance was St. Michael's Mount which was well worth the long and very tedious journey. Because of the delays we almost missed the tide and got our feet wet on the causeway but we had a wonderful day - it was the best day of the week weather wise so it was very busy with long queues for ice creams and the boat back to shore. We had a lovely day in Fowey (it was Regatta week), and the ladies went back later in the week to browse in the shops! The Eden Project, the fireworks at Fowey, the beach and Lanhydrock (NT) were also visited. Our party consisted of me and my husband, our 3 children and spouses and 4 grandchildren. It was great to all be together particularly as our daughter and husband live in the US - very special.

Unfortunately there was no photo of the front of the house so it was difficult to find the house, especially on such a steep hill. Parking was bit of an issue especially with 3 cars to accommodate and quite often space was tight, difficult when you are not used to parking on a very steep hill.

The owner was very helpful and answered queries before the holiday very promptly.
