About Holly Hodge

My name is Holly and myself and my husband have lived in Tenerife for over 11 years. We have moved to Scotland for work and therefore have a our beautiful villa to rent out, if we could pick it up and move it to Scotland we would!! If you need any recommendations for restaurants or things to see and do just ask!

Holly Hodge purchased this villa in 2005

Why Holly Hodge chose Arona

We love this area because you have the best of both worlds, you have beautiful mountains and scenery and peace and quiet on your doorstep, but are only 10 - 15 minutes down to Los Cristianos or Las Americas. Arona is great town, with some shops, an amazing bakery and everything else you need.

What makes this villa unique

Our villa is perfect for people who are looking to just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, relax in the pool and chill out and also for people who are more active and want to enjoy the incredible walking and countryside the island has to offer. The villa is in a great location, you can walk to the town for anything you may require, there are also some fab restaurants in the local area. No matter what you want from your holiday this is an amazing place to spend time in the sun!!

Mr & Mrs Medway April 2012

Yes we certainly did enjoy our holiday and the villa was fantastic, so relaxing just to sit on the veranda listening to the birds, eating breakfast looking at the amazing lemon tree, you are so lucky to have fresh lemons at ones fingers! Only wishes we could have stayed longer, also loved the area, the village was very pretty and well kept, took some great photo's.

Of course one of the best things was going to the coffee shop Arona as often as poss, there cakes are the best ever and so reasonable!

We did venture down into Los Cristianos etc, but I couldn't get out quickly enough, really not my thing!

Justine was very kind and helpful with all our queries, so great to have her so near.

The beach resort of Los Cristianos is a 10 minute drive away, here you will find a golden sandy beach with sunloungers & changing facilities, plenty of parking and restaurants, shops & bars. Approximately 15 minutes drive away is the popular beach resort of Playa Del Duque, a very upmarket area with a lovely beach and great facilities.

Tenerife South Airport (Reina Sofia) is the best airport to fly into, it is a 15-20 minute drive from the property.

The Villa is around an 8 minute walk from the village of Arona, here you will find a supermarket, pharmacy, banks, bakery, restaurants & bars. The start of the Roque Del Conde walk and various other walks commence at the bottom of the road the villa is located on. There are some great local restaurants within the surrounding area which are off the tourist track, just ask and we will point you in the right direction!

Further Details:

The village of Arona is full of charm, built around the beautiful church and church square, it is lovely to wander round the old cobbled streets, maybe pop in to the local bakery and have a coffee and cake, or stroll round the garden areas which are full of the local flora and fauna. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance of the villa, all serving local canarian style food. There are 4 bars within walking distance, all in the village of Arona. The local area is great for walkers, most of the major walking routes in the South of The Island start just at the bottom of the road, you can take a short stroll or maybe walk to the top of Roque Del Conde. We are lucky to have some of the best restaurants just a short distance away from the villa, the town on Valle San Lorenzo (approx 5-7 minute drive) is full of local eateries and bars, as is La Camella, again just ask and we will point you in the right direction! Mount Teide is a great day out, approx 35 minute drive away, you will pass some of the most breath taking scenary and stunning view points, you will also pass through the highest village in Spain which is Vilaflor.

The beach resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa De Las Americas are full of the usual restaurants and bars you would expect to find in the touristy areas.

There are many, many things to see and do on the island, if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!

A Great Holiday!

  • 4 of 5

What a great holiday! The villa was everything we expected it to be. Lovely surroundings, secluded garden with swimming pool & ample sunbeds. The terrace is a suntrap and a lovely place to sit & have breakfast, lunch or dinner! Several mornings we sat outside and watched the sun rise!

The weather for December was glorious but I have to say having the woodburner is lovely as the evenings can get a bit chilly!

The villa is well equipped and very clean. There were 5 adults & 1 child and we had plenty of space.

The pool table in the cave is quirky. We loved it!

The village of Arona is a short, downhill walk but you need to be prepared for the walk back! The cake shop is wonderful and everyone was extremely friendly & very helpful. The little supermarket is very well stocked.

Very easy to get the bus from Arona into Los Christianos (about 20 mins). Los Christianos is a lively place & we enjoyed the beach as well as walking along the promenade.

We have been coming to Tenerife for a few years now but we’ve always stayed near the coast & it was a pleasant change to stay in rural surroundings & experience the true Tenerife.

Mustn’t forget to mention Justine. She was lovely & very helpful.

Comfortable and quirky !

  • 4 of 5

It is rather different to the normal holiday house. Rather quirky but appealing to those wanting to get away from the concrete blocks that line the coast. It has special appeal to those not wishing to sit on the sand all day, but enjoy the countryside and walking.

Our holiday dates were from Monday, 26th January to Monday, 9th February. This is early, I know, for the really good weather, but even the locals said that the poor weather and the cold we experienced were most unseasonal. That said the villa was well furnished and located in a very nice position, however, the building of some new flats across the field in front of the house has meant that a stunning view of the sea has been lost. Initially the flats worried us, but we got used to them and there is the opportunity to be very secluded in the pool patio area at the back, so if the weather had been better we would not really have been worried about the flats. The pool is small and would be good to cool one down, however, we never used it throughout our stay, although the pool water temperature was pleasantly warm. The bedrooms are comfortable and well found, although the sinks were a little unusual! A curtain to cover the toilet entrance would be an advantage in the main bedroom at the back of the house. The sitting room was comfortable and the really big plus was the wood burning stove which we had to use almost every day because the weather was unusually cold. The kitchen was well laid out and everything seemed to work well - we found it very good.

The cost of food in the supermarkets was very reasonable and we also found several excellent nearby restaurants which we used. The villa is well positioned for mountain walks and this is a really big advantage as it is nice to explore. The mountain tracks are well used by visitors to the area and many come to the area for walks and climbing.

Finally the really major plus was Justine who looks after the villa; she was absolutely excellent and really could not have been more helpful - she is a real 'gem' and we are most grateful to her for all her help and advice.
