About Graham Russell

Hello, thank you for considering our Villa for your next holiday. We have two teenage children and we all love the climate and the visitor attractions in the Algarve. The Children are working really hard at their exams at the moment and love the opportunity to spend time in the pool away from their studies. We have been spending holidays in the Algarve for the past 10 years - right from when the Children were young. We love the family atmosphere, the range of activities and the warm welcome from the local population. Historically we have preferred the Eastern Algarve, but brought a villa in the Central Algarve because it is a much more convenient location for a holiday & for travelling either East or West. Why Graham Russell chose Guilhim

We wanted to buy a Villa in an area that is really convenient for getting to the Tourist Attractions, Beaches and Golf Courses in the West, But not too far away from the more historic East, which is also a more traditional area with lovely restaurants. The area around Santa Barbara De Nexe and Estoi is really superb because it is convenient for the Airport and with excellent links to both East and West. The villa itself is quite close to the main roads but is really quiet. We wanted somewhere that was quiet but not isolated, with it's own grounds and not overlooked. We also wanted somewhere with plenty of space but with a lovely homely feel. This villa meets all of our needs perfectly. We hope it fits your needs for a wonderful holiday too.

What makes this villa unique

The views from the verandas are great and you can see all the way to the Sea. We are on the side of a hill on gently sloping ground which has been terraced. Because we are the villa highest up the hill of the small number of properties in the local area it means that we have superb views but neither the house nor the pool area are overlooked at all. This villa is not a commercial property - it is our holiday home and we have therefore taken time to put into it the things that we want to see and use when we are on holiday. So in the house you will find things like a Nintendo wii, a Playstation PS3, free wifi and a really good DVD playback system for all those films that you never get time to see at home. The kitchen also has those little extras not usually found in rental properties.

Notes on accommodation: The villa is ideal for family holidays, for couples wishing to explore the Algarve or for groups wishing to exploit the many golf courses in the region. For very young families a high-chair and cot are provided. Outdoor furniture includes sun loungers, umberellas and a rattan table and chairs for outdoor dining under the shady pergola. Delightful shaded barbecue area close to the swimming pool. Flyscreens are fitted to all windows. New state of the art "Protect-a-child" safety fencing, which complies with the latest Portuguese safety standards, has recently been fitted and the patio area extended to allow sunbathing whatever the time of day. Outside: Lovely private gardens which are not overlooked surround the villa, with many pretty shrubs and trees. Tiled pool surround - recently extended, traditional Portuguese style brick built barbeque overlooking pool. Verandas leading from all bedrooms and a lovely shady pergola. Shaded parking for two cars in car port. The pool has a cover to keep the water warm overnight and a air-source heat pump is available if required, for an additional charge. Pool inflatables are provided so you can have even more fun in the pool. The outdoor lighting has recently been upgraded to include lighting in the pergola, around the pool and next to the BBQ, to ensure that you can make full use of the wonderful warm evenings. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, airing frame, hair dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We provide bed linen and towels, including pool towels. Linen and towels are changed weekly. Maid service weekly. Other: Dining room with table and seating for 8 people plus high-chair. CD player.

Villa very well equipped. Fabulous pool area. Peaceful and secluded. Yet a few minutes drive from supermarket and restaurants. Will definitely be back!

Spacious villa with great heated pool and loads of unexpected extras!

Lovely family friendly villa with loads of added touches to make for a very chilled stay!

Heated pool is great and ideal for kids and adults alike. Kids especially loved the vast range of pool inflatables to play with.

Fantastic outdoor kitchen and gazebo perfect for long lunches or enjoying the sunset.

Would definitely recommend but car essential!

Excellent villa with spectacular views

Having spent a week at Casa Da Bica with my family I have to say how happy we were with the whole experience. The owners, Graham & Pat, were amazing. Communication between them and us was faultless with all questions answered promptly and without fuss. The villa itself is an amazing place, secluded and not overlooked, but close enough to other villas so that you don't feel vulnerable or isolated. The facilities as brilliant. The heated pool is great as is the whole outdoor space. There is a BBQ area as well as a covered eating area that got used all the time we were there. Facilities inside the villa were just as good with everything you need to amuse all ages.

All in all a fantastic location and property for anyone who wants to enjoy all that the Algarve has to offer. We will definitely be returning

Excellent villa

Our third stay in Casa Da Bica and as previously we found everything to be to a high standard. The villa was clean and tidy, with a modern kitchen, appliances and more than enough utensils and gadgets to satisfy even the most picky of guests - we were short of nothing. The pool area was very inviting and would be very safe for children. It is very evident that the villa is extremely well maintained and cared for by Graham and Pat. Hopefully we will get an opportunity to stay here again and in the not too distant future. We would not hesitate to recommend Casa Da Bica to anyone wanting all the comforts of home and so much more. Thank you for sharing your home in the sun with us.

Fabulous and tranquil holiday villa

We had a fantastic week, the villa had everything we needed. It was super clean and all the amenities were first rate. The pool was heated, with under water lights and in excellent condition. Our boys spend every minute enjoying all the great pool toys, while we relaxed looking out onto the lovely garden area. I would highly recommend this villa, it surpassed our expectations. There are several beaches all within approximately 15 minutes drive including Praia do Vale de Lobo, Praia do Quinta do Largo and Praia de Faro. Praia de Faro is a large sandy beach very popular with children, although often overlooked by many holidaymakers because it is close to Faro. It is, however, well worth a visit. Slightly further afield, if you are visiting Tavira to the east, it is worthwhile taking the small ferry to the Ilha de Tavira, with its lovely sandy beaches.


Faro airport is approximately 15 minutes drive away. We recommend that guests book hire cars in advance. In the high summer season hire cars can be in short supply. We can provide advice on the most competitive companies. If you book a hire car, then it is advisable to speak to your hire company about getting a permit to use the A22 motorway. Using the A22 motorway with a permit can be quite cheap - but paying the fines afterwards if you don't have a permit is not!


5 minutes drive to Santa Barbara de Nexe and Estoi. 25 minutes to the historic town of Tavira in the East and 15 minutes to Villamoura in the West. 40 minutes drive to the Spanish border.

Further Details:

The property is ideally located and is within easy reach of all the main tourist attractions in the Algarve. There are local supermarkets in Sao Bras de Alportel, Santa Barbara de Nexe and Loule. It is less that 15 minutes to the Faro Forum shopping complex, which has some 80 shops, including a large "Jumbo" supermarket. The extremely popular Algarve Shopping Centre is 25 minutes away via the A22 and has a wide range of shops. We are less than 10 minutes from the IKEA Shopping outlet. There are daily markets in Sao Bras de Alportel and Olhao. There is also a monthly market in Estoi. The Saturday market in Loule is not to be missed. The nearby town of Estoi is famous for the Palace do Pisconde and for the ruins of a Roman villa. For the younger family members, we are 30 minutes away from Krazy World and half an hour from Zoomarine which is a fantastic family day out. We are also only ten minutes away from Algarve Karting. Tavira, to the east, is one of the loveliest towns in Southern Portugal. It lies on both sides of the Gilao river which is crossed by the Roman bridge. There are many historic churches, a castle and a camera obscura. A wide selection of restaurants and sidewalk cafes are available. To the West, Vilamoura is some 15 minutes away and boasts a huge range of attractions. As well as the established Golf Courses, there is a wide range of cruises and trip boats with cruises lasting from a couple of hours to a whole day. A number of the cruises concentrate specifically on the sea caves which are a fantastic sight.
