Converted a few years, Brook House Barn provides modern luxury accommodation in the pretty village of Chapel Allerton. The barn is set in its own grounds within our small working farm and offers a great base for walking, cycling, bird watching or touring the somerset levels, mendip hills or beaches of the North Somerset coast. The Barn is very peaceful with wide ranging views of the countryside.

About the Owner

My husband, Clive and I, have lived in the Allertons for nearly 23 years and moved to Brook House Farm 12 years ago. We enjoy living in this beautiful part of the country very much and have for the last 12 years kept a smallholding here farming a small number of sheep as well as looking after our two horses. It was our ambition to start a small holiday business and we converted our old cow barn to a holiday cottage. Our aim was to produce a home from home for our guests which we would feel comfortable in ourselves. We both enjoy cycling and playing golf. Clive flys his small aircraft from Bristol Airport and I enjoy riding my horse, looking after the sheep and gardening.

It was a real pleasure to stay at Brook House Barn. The accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable, and the owners very helpful, without being intrusive. It is set in beautiful peaceful countryside, with sheep and a horse as the nearest neighbours, and within close reach of both the Somerset Levels and the Mendips. It easily surpassed our expectations in every way.

Stunning property, peace & quiet with lovely views

The property was finished to a very high standard, the rooms were large and airy and it felt like a home rather than a holiday cottage. It was very well equipped and we were really impressed. We have been to several properties throughout the UK and this was the best we have stayed in, by far. The views and countryside surrounding the property were stunning, it was lovely and peaceful and a perfect place to relax. The beautiful weather helped as well of course! We would love to go back.

Total tranquility!

Converted to a high specification and scrupulously clean and well equipped, this is undoubtedly the best holiday accommodation I have ever stayed in. All on one level, it is brilliant for families or in fact anyone with limited mobility. For me the utter peace and tranquility of the rural location and the outlook across the Somerset levels towards Brent Knoll sold it. I spent many a dawn watching the Autumn mist rise across the fields and the neighbouring sheep slowly coming into focus - bliss. Thoughtful and attentive owners provided a warm welcome and ensured that everything needed was in place. When I next need a week to relax and wind down I will be back!

Holiday June 2015

Had a lovely relaxing week at this barn, the accommodation was well furnished, comfortable and in a quiet location. With the added bonus of sheep and a horse to keep us company.

We were welcomed by the owners who were very friendly and helpful.

Top Barn!

We simply loved the Barn with it's hgh-end furnishings and everything we needed for our stay. The bed is especially comfy. The view from the deck is great and sitting with a glass of wine in the evening was a real pleasure. The Barn was very clean and Sarah and Clive are friendly and accommodating. Have already recommended to several people and we hope to visit again ourselves.

We have always enjoyed the tranquility of the Somerset Levels and the beautiful lightness and sunsets you find here. The village is a very friendly place and the old traditions of good neighbourliness and friendship are abundant here.

The beaches of Weston-super-Mare, with its newly built pier, and Burnham-on-Sea are approximately 20 minutes drive away.


Bristol International Airport is approximately 19 miles away.


The City of Wells is approximately 15 miles away with Glastonbury being slightly closer. Cheddar, with its famous gorge, is ten minutes drive away. The medieval village of Axbridge, which hosts a local farmers' market once a month, is 4 miles away.

Further Details:

Within a 3 mile radius there are a number of wonderful restaurants, pubs and cider houses, where you can treat yourself. Our local pub, which is currently being refurbished, is due to open soon and will offer a large selection of its home cured meats and fish as well as great ales, food and wine. This is within a walking mile of the Barn.

March/April is an exciting time to visit Brook House Barn as our sheep are normally lambing at this time.

Booking Notes:
We require a £50 non refundable deposit upon booking and a £50 cheque to cover damages (see our terms and conditions on our website) The balance of the holiday cost is to be paid 4 weeks prior to arrival. Payment can be made by Cheque or BACS (details to be provided upon request).

Changeover Day:
Changeover Day is Saturday. Guests are asked to arrive after 3pm and to vacate the property by 10am on day of departure - this gives us time to thoroughly clean the property for our guests.

Notes on prices:
Please note that we will also consider shorter breaks if availability allows - please just ask us.

A £50 non refundable deposit is required upon booking. The remainder of the balance together with a separate £50 damage deposit is payable 4 weeks before your arrival date.

The property is properly detached and is surrounded by our own fields. We are situated in the main farmhouse and thus will be on hand should you need us. The local pub is just under a mile away from the Barn too.

  • Notes on accommodation: Pets are not allowed and there is no smoking permitted. The property is centrally heated and all fuel/electricity is included. Outside: There is a private decking area which can be accessed from the patio doors from the lounge and from outside. There is also a paved patio/dining area with table and 4 chairs. There is a bicycle/boot storage area and ample parking alongside of the barn. Guests have their own access to the property and are encouraged to use the farmland for their own enjoyment. (Guests will enjoy contact with our friendly sheep, horses and Neville the cat!) Towels / Linen Towels and linen are included and are changed on a weekly basis.
