Chalet in La Chapelle d'Abondance, Haute-Savoie, Rhone-Alpes, France - High Quality Accommodation To Provide A Base For Winter Or Summer Activities.

Chalet Max is a typical alpine style building on the outside. The interior has been fitted out and furnished to give a contemporary feel and provide all comforts of a modern home. The Chalet will provide its guests with a calm and peaceful holiday and is a great base to experience the joys of outdoor life in the Alps. The location is ideal for access to the 'Portes du Soleil' skiing area, one of the largest in Europe, straddling the border between France and Switzerland and offering a wide variety of skiing opportunities, from absolute beginners to adrenaline seekers and off-pisters. In addition there are numerous snowshoe and cross country ski trails which pass the back garden. Summer activities are amazing too: mountain biking, road cycling, walking, white water rafting to name but a few. Alpine food is wonderful and being situated in the Abondance valley, a traditional farming area, copious amounts of delicious local cheeses are readily available to try and to buy.

Mark and Lottie built Chalet Max in 2006 and we have been using it for our own holidays, coming at least 6 times a year, in all the school holidays. We love the area and are still discovering the fantastic diverse range of activities at different times of the year.

Why Mark Perriton chose Portes du Soleil area

The chalet is situated in the commune of La Pesse, between the small towns of La Chapelle D'Abondance and Chatel both offering ski lifts with access to the whole Portes du Soleil ski area. It is in a quiet spot with a river at the end of the garden, spectacular mountain walks starting from the chalet, tennis courts almost across the road and a good supermarket 5 minutes away!

The first thing that struck us about Chalet Max is how well-appointed, spacious and well-equipped it is; clean, stylish and homely. 10 people were accommodated comfortably with a good ratio of beds to bathrooms, and the garage was ideal for equipment storage. The owners have excellent local knowledge and provide useful recommendations.

Chatel is a fantastic place to ski; plenty of skiing for all levels, and great touring. Several excellent nearby restaurants frequented.

Beautiful chalet in great location

We've stayed at Chalet Max twice now - once during October when we enjoyed some spectacular hiking, and once in February when we skiied at nearby Chatel and Pré La Joux. The chalet is very comfortable and clean, extremely well equipped, and fabulously located next to a river and just a very short drive from La Chapelle, Chatel, and great ski fields and hikes. The owners are really friendly, generous and helpful. An ideal summer retreat if you like hiking, mountain biking or climbing, and an awesome winter location for snow sports.

Spacious chalet

Chalet Max has plenty of space and is very comfortable. An excellent location - not just for skiing but also for walking and cycling in the mountains. (It's worth cycling up to Col de Bassachoux). Tennis courts are also nearby. So endless options! Thoroughly recommended.

Great accommodation

Lovely, well appointed chalet close to ski lifts and restaurants. Chalet is very spacious and well equipped. Owners extremely helpful and friendly. We loved the location, we used our hire car to get to ski lifts, but bus stop right outside chalet.

High quality accommodation

We've enjoyed two great skiing holidays staying at Chalet Max. Unusually for alpine resort chalets it is extremely well appointed and very comfortable, clean and well maintained - important to our party which includes non-skiers. Two good restaurants are within a 20 minute walk so no one has to forego a glass of wine with dinner. We like the quiet location and the river at the end of the garden. Its also useful that the drive is level so not a danger to grandparents when it snows.

A non - refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure the booking. The balance is payable 4 weeks before arrival. A security deposit of 500 Euro (£450) is required (payable with the balance payment) and will be returned within 14 days of departure providing there has been no damage to the chalet.
A deposit is required for use of the bikes.

Notes on accommodation: Chalet Max is a very comfortable place to stay with loads of natural daylight and space to switch off from life at home. The location of the Chalet allows access to the supermarket within 2 minutes in the car; there are public tennis courts within a couple of minutes walk from the Chalet. Chatel and Chapelle d'Abondance are 5 minutes drive. Outside: The Chalet has its own large grassed garden with a stream running through the middle and the river Dranse running along the end boundary.There is a patio area with garden furniture ideal for a barbecue and outdoor dining and sunbathing. Utility Room: Washing Machine and Dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and Linen are hired per person at the time of booking. Please advise how many double beds and single beds are required. Cleaning at the end of the rental period is included within the rental cost. Other: Large garage with car port. Parking for 2 more cars at front. 3 comfortable "hybrid bikes" are available on request. NEW for 2013 - an electric assist bicycle, ideal for cycling on hilly roads providing exercise with assistance!
