Traditional Farmhouse Near The Helford River

Updated: 11-Jul-2016
House in Port Navas, Helford River, Falmouth, Cornwall, UK - Beautiful Secluded Location; Very Comfortable; Large Gardens; Fully Equipped; Dog Friendly.

Inow Farmhouse is a beautifully renovated traditional home with all modern creature comforts. It is full of character and charm with large private gardens and access to free running in the surrounding fields. The views are far reaching across countryside and woodland and the house sits less than 5 minutes' walk from the Helford River. The area surrounding the Helford River has to be one of the most beautiful in the country, if not the world. The peaceful, quiet waters of the estuary lend themselves to sailing, wake boarding, rowing, swimming and simply splashing about. Wills Cottage, Inow Farm sits just above Port Navas Creek which gently winds its way towards the Helford and out to the sea. There are small, gentle beaches aplenty, plenty of opportunities to get out on the water on boats, windsurfers, canoes and boards. The local pubs and restaurants are excellent, the walking is absolutely beautiful and the picnic opportunities abound!

About the Owner

We are the luckiest of people to be able to say that we live here, in Port Navas and that we have raised our family on the Helford River. We are now in a position to invite holiday-makers to enjoy our family home during the summer months. We so hope you will enjoy living here as much as we do.

Our children are nearly all grown now, but we have all spent many happy years exploring and playing in and around the Helford River on boats, on beaches, in canoes and dinghies and on foot. We are out on the water at some point almost every day - Summer and Winter.

From the Owner

The Helford River is one of the few truly unspoilt estuaries in the South West. A yachtsman's paradise, the lack of development along its banks leaves any visitor truly able to imagine the Frenchman's Creek of Du Maurier's time as it remains virtually untouched since her penning of that book. All of the Helford is like this - unspoilt, uncrowded, undeveloped. There is nothing here but beauty, boats and beer! There is always something to do, something to see and somewhere to go here. There is also always somewhere to stop, relax and unwind. This is heaven for dogs and dog owners, perfect for walkers, rowers, sailors, canoeists, foodies, wine lovers and virtually anyone who enjoys nature's beauty and bounty.

Further Details:

This area is absolutely beautiful due to its unspoilt, underpopulated nature. There are pubs and restaurants galore but not all in one place! You may need to get into your car to find them all! Within easy access of Inow Farmhouse are both Glendurgan and Trebah Gardens. Glendurgan is a National Trust Garden and, as you would imagine, is a beautifully kept example of a garden at its best. The garden ramble down the valley to the delightful hamlet of Durgan where the gorgeous little beach is perfect for picnicking, swimming, view-gazing or rock climbing. Trebah winds down towards the Helford boasting the most incredible selection of sub-tropical plants in the county. This privately owned estate is a must-see and even has its own private Helford River Beach with magnificent views out to sea for use by all visitors.

One of the benefits of staying at Inow Farmhouse is that you are no-where near shops, traffic, cars, noise, hustle and bustle! However, there is a wide choice of supermarkets in Penryn and Falmouth which both lie about 15 minutes' drive from the cottage.

So many things to see and so many things to do but, equally, plenty of opportunity to do absolutely nothing whilst somewhere absolutely beautiful.

  • Notes on accommodation: We have lived here for nearly twenty years. Our children have grown up here, exploring the gardens and the woodland. The surrounding land all belongs to the house and is open for free running of children and dogs. There is a private path leading directly to the village of Port Navas, the Helford River and the Port Navas Yacht Club. Please look at the photographs! Outside: Wills Cottage, Inow Farm sits in its own beautiful, large gardens and fields - about 16 acres in all. The garden is full of trees and plants with big grassy areas for ball games or sunbathing! The fields surrounding the property are open to guests. There is no livestock to disturb, just lots and lots of land to run around on. There is always somewhere in the garden that keeps the sun - from sunrise to sunset - and the teak garden furniture can be moved around to suit even the most fickle relaxers! Utility Room: The large utility room houses the downstairs loo, the washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board, recycling facilities, plenty of hanging space for wet towels and clothes and lots of space for wet children and dogs! Also walk in wet-room shower. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are provided. Cleaning of the property is included in the rental. Other: This is our home. We offer it for you to enjoy over the summer. We hope you will come to love it as much as we do.
