About Maria Evans

A bit of background: We live in Lancashire with our two teenage children and bought the Villa in May 2010. When work allows (and everyone knows how hard that is these days) we try and escape to it The Villa is named after Maria’s Godmother, Auntie Genevieve who stayed at the Villa for her 82nd birthday. She adored it – Auntie Genevieve’s favourite past time was to sit with a glass (or two!) of red wine watching the sun go down – she said she could never tire of that amazing view! I am sure you will agree, the view is breathtaking-to simply sit back and enjoy it - it has to be one of the most relaxing, peaceful and stress free things we are able to do in this hectic, fast pace crazy world we live in. Happy Holidays! Paul & Maria Evans

Maria Evans purchased this villa in 2010

Why Maria Evans chose Neo Chorio

We first started looking in 2008 for a holiday home in Cyprus and once we found the villa with its quiet location (but near to amenities) and the breathtaking views - the salesman did not have to work very hard. It was important to us that our villa was located on the front line so the views were uninterrupted.

What makes this villa unique

Just love to get away from it all but at the same time the convenience of having so many bars and restaurants at our fingertips but not be in the centre of a built up area. We are now up to 34 Reviews on Trip Advisor and each one is 5* which has been great to receive knowing that guests are enjoying staying at the villa as much as us.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Another wonderful relaxing stay at this beautiful, well appointed villa. Blessed with excellent weather and to sit with a glass of wine and gaze out at the uninterrupted views of the Bay is a big treat. The village of New Chorio so rustic and charming, the local eateries a mus, all in all a super stay. Love this villa.

The villa is beautiful with lovely views of the sea and mountains

  • 5 of 5

Driving from Paphos airport towards Latchi we were slightly worried on what we were going to find as a lot of the small towns you travel through have very traditional old Cypriot buildings but we were very pleased when we found the villa. It was in a small complex of similar villas and had the most beautiful views of the sea and mountains. The villa was lovely inside with alll the facilities you could wish for including washing machine, dishwasher, wi-fi and even Netflix and sky sports. The villa was spotless and we were spoilt on where to sunbathe outside as there were so many seats and sun loungers. The pool was a good size but quite cold (in October) but once you were in it was great fun. On some evenings we used the hot tub which was really nice. It is best to have a car but some others on the the same road used taxi's. Andrea (from Luxury Latchi Villas) came on the second day to give us useful information on the activities available and places to eat. We decided to hire a speedboat from George's and though we had never driven a boat before they gave us full instructions and the boat was fitted with a radio and full safety equipment. You are given a map of the lagoons that you can visit and we had a brilliant four hours of fun. My only recommendation is to avoid the blue lagoon when the larger tourist boats are there as it does get quite busy. We moved onto the next lagoon where the larger boats don't go and enjoyed swimming in the warm waters with only a couple of other small boats. My daughter also went parasailing with Latchi Watersports which was also great fun. Both water sport companies are thoroughly recommended. There is plenty of places to eat along Latchi harbour and in Polis town. We had meals in Molos and Finakas, these are owned by two brothers and were very good. We also ate at The Last Castle' that took two attempts to find but was worth it. There is no menu but just chicken, pork or both with giant chips and salad, the food was good and the views incredible. We loved are visit so much that we have already booked again for next year.

Perfect long weekend in paradise

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay at Villa Genevieve, I genuinely couldn't have asked for anything more. The location, the property (and the weather) were perfect. It was the ideal place to go for a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of London life. The views from the pool are breathtaking and even in the December the back terrace had sunshine until late afternoon. Will definetely be going back in the New Year, and I'll be recommending it to everyone! Xx

Peaceful, beautiful, a luxury home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This property is simply perfect.

I arrived with a group of friends for a relaxing few days in the sun, hired a car and drove to Villa Geneveive, which is situated in the hills behind the coast in a private estate with parking, close to a small village.

First impressions upon arriving: the property is extremely well-kept and decorated very tastefully, with beautiful outdoor furniture, glass panels surrounding the pool area (great view and safe for kids!), pebbled side-gardens, decking, a stone-built barbecue and hot tub. There are some steps from the road to the property which gives an even better view to the stunning coastline and countryside surrounding. So peaceful.

Inside the villa was cosy and comfortable, modern and spacious. There was a wonderful option of bedrooms and a large roof terrace to enjoy. All bedrooms are ensuite and decorated lovely.

We had a wonderful stay and spent time at the harbour, the beach and the beautiful famous restaurant in Polis, The Old Town, which I would reccommend completely - fantastic food and service, family run and traditional. We were able to walk down and back up to the property, as well as use the car, which made the holiday carefree and very relaxed.

This property was like a comfy home away from home in a stylist, peaceful, relaxing setting. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you!!

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at Villa Genevieve numerous times now in different seasons and it just keeps getting better. Fantastic to see that the owners care so much about improving the place to keep up with current trends, newest addition is a hot tub! Beautifully maintaned with real home comforts that make all the difference if you're caught short with the weather.

The scenery is breathtaking, lots of good walks to go on in order to take in the views.

Would reccomend to anyone who's after a wonderful spot to relax, treat themselves to fantastic local food, and forget about work for a week!

Can't wait to be back there again!

Luxurious villa with fabulous views over Latchi

  • 5 of 5

This was our second Ladies who Lunch group stay at the Villa Genevieve in this quiet part of Neo Chorion and we weren't disappointed. Every little detail has been carefully taken care of in this very clean, luxurious accommodation, to ensure that we felt thoroughly spoiled, from the moment we arrived to find a welcoming lemon drizzle cake awaiting our first cuppa. The rooms are spacious and well decorated, the linens freshly laundered and there was an excellent selection of toiletries and all those kitchen necessities which are so often overlooked in other holiday rentals. Wifi is good (for those who can't bear to leave work behind!). Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay and champagne on the comfy sofas on the balcony in the evening were just what we needed to chill out and set us up for the walk down to the harbour or to the local restaurant a 5 minute stroll away. Would recommend this to couples, families or groups of friends (the villa sleeps 6 and has plenty of space indoors and outside to enjoy some quiet solitude or get together for girlie chats), but the roads are quite steep nearby, so perhaps not so good for the infirm or fainthearted! Would recommend hiring a car to get around. The pool and hot tub look out over the sea and are a pleasant way to spend a peaceful relaxing time at this beautifully appointed villa which is one of, if not, the best in the area and excellent value.

This was a short, 4 night stay and we weren't disappointed. The villa was spotless, tastefully decorated and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. Beautiful walk down to the harbour and lovely restaurants nearby for our evening meals. Calm and relaxing, perfect!

It is approximately 5 minutes in the car to the beach at Latchi. Latchi has a wide variety of activities whether you wish to do adventurous watersports, boat tours, simply sunbathe or just sit in one of the many bars, cafes, tavernas or restaurants located on both the beach and at the harbour - Latchi has a lot to offer.

Paphos Airport is the nearest airport and the transfer time is approx 50 minutes to the villa. Easy Jet and Jet2 fly regularly from the UK to Paphos as well as Cyprus Airlines and Thomas Cook. It is recommended to hire a car as there is so much to do and see in the area. Avis, Budget and Hertz and all the major car hire companies are located at Paphos airport.

The villa is just a ten minute stroll into the pretty village of Neo Chorio with its tavernas and shops and especially the welcoming Koupas Taverna and Smyles Taverna which are "open all hours". Latchi is the nearest beach (approx 5 mins in the car), the old town of Polis with its quaint cobbled streets (10 mins in the car) , Aphrodite's birthplace (15 mins in the car) and much much more.

Further Details:

Latchi beach and the harbour itself is well worth spending time at. There is so much to do in the local area, family favorites include watersports, boat trips, horse riding, wine tasting, walking, archaeology, or just relaxing on the beach. You may wish to also indulge in: mountain biking, bungee jumping, nature trails through the forest, visit beautiful local churces with stunning frescoes. The nearby Troodos mountain not only have spectacular forest scenery but also numerous winerys which are open to the public and well worth a visit. Nearby are the Baths of Aphrodite a magical pool formed from spring water nestled by a cave and crystal clear waterfall. Both Latchi and Polis have a wide variety of bars, cafes, restaurants, nightclubs, shops, banks and supermarkets on offer. The nearby Akamas peninsula is a magnet for nature enthusiasts, mountain bikers and walkers with its breathtaking scenery and attractions. This part of Cyprus has so much to offer.
