About Cath & Adrian Elliott

Hi, we are Cath and Adrian Elliott, we started life in the Vale of Evesham. But absolutely fell in love with Devon and moved down here about 13 years ago. We now live in Combe Martin in a remote location in a property with an acre of land. As we absolutely love growing and eating our own produce (especially the home produced eggs). Our two kids have recently left the fold and bought their own flats in the thriving street of Mill Street in Bideford (a place we recommend you visit).

Cath & Adrian Elliott purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Cath & Adrian Elliott chose North Devon

We purchased Allsorted because we had been looking to buy a holiday cottage for a while, but any previous properties just did not have the wow factor for us. But we immediately fell in love with Allsorted as soon as we went through the front door. Even mum gave it nine out of ten (you could have knocked me down with a feather) some other houses had scored as low as two with her. It is a quirky sort of property, but is has a positive, happy feel about it which seems immediately relaxing.

What makes this cottage unique

Due to the remoteness of our house in Combe Martin, we find it an absolute pleasure when we stay in Allsorted, everything is just so handy. Supermarkets and local shops, literally five minutes walk over the old bridge (no need to get the car out!!!). For several years if we fancied a take away it would be a major expedition, we could not believe our luck at Allsorted you can have an array of different take aways delivered to your front door.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for a delightful stay in your cottage. Everything was perfect!

We hope to return again one day.

Wonderful in every way!

A perfect location, fantastic views, really well equipped and great communication with the owners.

We stayed for two nights so that I could run the Bideford Half Marathon and it took a lot of the stress out of the experience of getting towns from the race. Plus we had a fabulous second night in Bideford post race!

We loved the cottage style and layout, the personal touches and how well equipped it all was.

Thank you so much!

4 adults stayed to re-visit North Devon's childhood memories. The cottage is full of character, ideally placed for exploring Bideford and the surrounding. The pretty little garden offers a lovely seating are in which to enjoy the views over the river, and a little glass of bubbly - flutes are on the shelf - just bring your own bottle!

Parking is just along the way in a public car park which is safe and convenient. £3.00 per day charge.

The owner provided milk, tea, coffee and sugar (although we had taken out own in case). The kitchen is very well equipped - plenty of crockery and glassware, utensils etc. Towels were provided. Bed linen was pretty, clean and fresh and beds comfortable, as was the whole house.

Lovely feature iron circular staircase - (wear shoes at night if visiting the downstairs bathroom) and cosy sitting room which we didn't spend much time in as our stay was short - 3 nights only.

Very good information given prior to visit to find the property, and lots of information within the house about local info, wifi, local places to visit, walks, places to eat. It was a pleasure to return to after our days out, and lovely to walk over the bridge in the evening to choose somewhere to eat. Just watch out for the flood step as you enter! After the first time, we all got the hang of it.

We actually failed to do much of the Tarka Trail except for a bit along the river in Bideford, but found lots of footsteps in other locations - Westward Ho!, Barnstaple, Infracombe etc.

Would be great for bike riding, which we didn't do.

Would recommend this cottage to anyone (up to 4) visiting the area. A lovely place to be your base.

A quirky little cottage full of character.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was small but comfortable. The electric heaters kept it nice and warm. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds comfortable. The tiny little garden was a bonus. It looked over the river and was a real sun trap. It was lovely to look over to the old, illuminated bridge at night. The bike rental place was a couple of minutes away and led directly onto the Tarka Trail. Ideal!! We could easily walk into Bideford and the parking just down the road worked fabulously well and was not expensive. We paid for the week so we could come and go as we liked. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Fantastic mini break in a beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a comfortable cottage in walking distance of the town and my goodness we found a gem. A home from home: beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. We will definitely be back and will recommend to friends and family.
