About this property

Little Castle In The Heart of Gardiner

Welcome to our historic 2,200 sq ft homestead, the second ever built in Gardiner in 1895! Crafted with hand quarried rock and a distinctive stick frame, our home boasts a castle-like turret that sets it apart. Fully remodeled in 2015, it seamlessly combines the charm of the old West with the comforts of modern living.

As you step into our abode, you'll find yourself surrounded by the tranquility of our front yard flower garden, a favorite haunt of local wildlife. To ensure your stay is seamless, we provide valuable information via email, including packing essentials, optimal times to witness the marvel of Old Faithful, scenic drives, recent animal sightings in the Lamar area, and recommendations for guided tours. For your convenience, we offer a spacious garage at the rear of the house, a rare find during Gardiner's bustling seasons.

Inside, our two-story home features three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The main floor hosts the master bedroom with a plush king-size bed and a luxurious custom steam shower for unwinding after your day's adventures. Upstairs, two more bedrooms await, one with a queen-size bed and a day bed with trundle, and another with two cozy twin beds. Each bedroom is equipped with new window air conditioners for added comfort during warm spells, offering serene views of either Emigrant Peak or the picturesque backyard where elk and deer often roam.

Relish moments of relaxation on our front porch swing, soaking in panoramic views of Electric Peak and Yellowstone's rolling hills, where elk, deer, bison, antelope, and occasional bears or wolves may grace your sight. Our fenced backyard beckons with mature trees, blooming flowers, a barbecue grill, and a patio perfect for al fresco dining.

The heart of our home, the kitchen, is fully equipped with gourmet essentials like olive oil, vinegar, and spices, alongside modern appliances including a dishwasher, dual-oven range, microwave, blender, mixer, slow cooker, and coffee maker. A breakfast bar and round dining table offer cozy spots for meals and gatherings.

Entertainment options abound, from a 44” flat screen TV with Dish network to a selection of DVDs, wireless WIFI, and a treasure trove of books, games, and cards. For added convenience, we provide a washer and dryer with laundry detergent.

As professional wildlife photographers and videographers with two decades of experience in Yellowstone, we're thrilled to share our passion with you. Enjoy complimentary access to our wildlife viewing guide, meticulously crafted to help you spot the park's most magnificent creatures, especially in our favorite hotspot, Lamar Valley.

Beyond our doorstep lies Gardiner, a quaint town brimming with character. Explore local cafes, a grocery store just a block away, and a plethora of outdoor adventures, from whitewater rafting with Montana Whitewater to horseback riding and fishing excursions with nearby outfitters and guides.

Your Yellowstone adventure awaits at our doorstep. Book your stay now and discover the magic of the West with us!

Most enjoyable stay in a truly historic house!
This house is iconic. Step back in time with all the modern conveniences in a house that is right next door to Yellowstone. Having a garage is a great advantage in Gardiner where parking can be tight. A quiet and secluded rear patio was a great gathering spot in the evening. Fantastic week!

Great location near north entrance of Yellowstone Park
Was a wonderful property that has been renovated and has a very well appointed kitchen, great views of the mountains around Gardiner, and lovely backyard with grill. Everything we need to have a relaxing time. Near restaurants and park entrance. However, if you want to cook/grill they have everything you need and the grocery store is within walking distance. They even have a steam shower, great after a day of exploring the park!!! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Cute Stone castle on the main st right outside Yellowstone north entrance.
I really liked the close location to Yellowstone. We could walk to the arch entrance and were super close to restaurants, tours, gifts shops and Mammoth Springs. The kitchen had everything we needed. There was smart TV in the living room (we needed to shift furniture around a lil so we could all see the TV). The downstairs master bedroom is really nice and the downstairs shower was amazing. My family members stayed upstairs and felt it was outdated and needed a remodel. The wood flooring was old and uneven and the decor reminded me of my grandma's in the 70s. The 2 twins can't really go together to make a bigger bed like we planned. There was no nightstand in that room so we borrowed a wobbly table and doll light from the other bedroom so my mom had a nightstand. The upstairs shower was real tight with a small folding shower door and they felt there was little room for toiletries. The upstairs they used to sleep and went downstairs for comfort. We all sat out on the front porch every morning and evening and loved it. We watched people and animals walk down the street and enjoyed the ambiance a lot. We could see elk on the hillside. The back porch was private with a grill and lots of lush beautiful plants and a cute bunny rabbit. The garage was huge but we never used it as there was good parking on the street in front of the house. Overall we enjoyed our stay; the price is right, the location is great and our family loved our Yellowstone trip.

Gardiner house
The home was very comfortable and well equipped. It was clean and accommodating. Our only concern was that it was on a busy street

Let me introduce ourselves. Jim and Judy Wantulok. We are a new retired couple. We have lived in Bozeman (75 miles away) all our lives and wanted a second house down south. Our south is Gardiner, a paradise because we love to photograph nature and animals. We purchased this wonderful home in 2006. With the help of our adult children, we remodeled our home ourselves. We took out seven tons of lath and plaster and revamped our home for the 21st century. Jim is a wildlife and landscape artist and videographer. I own and ran a small grocery store (Joe's Parkway) by Montana State University for 33 years. I took it from a college store that sold a lot of beer (the most beer per capita West of the Mississippi, in early 90's) to a gourmet market with the best cheese, wines, chocolates, and groceries in town. Now I spend my time photographing nature and animals, in the wild. You will see some of our work displayed throughout our home.

Why they chose this property

Great location, easy to walk around town. Close to the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. (about 5 blocks) Our back yard is fenced in and provides a calm setting to relax.
We also have a swing on the front porch that you can enjoy and see the mountains and animals that roam the hills of the park.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with our home at first sight. It had so much character. We had a wonderful time refinishing the inside. It is a charming home, both inside and out.
