This is the largest of this group of lodges in this section of the park on the highest tier therefore providing the best views of the surrounding Devon countryside. Stylishly furnished and well equipped family owned chalet lodge. The forest lodge is situated on a peaceful, privately run park set in acres of woodland. woodland. Relax on the south facing balcony or new patio where you can barbecue (please bring your own) and enjoy the views across the beautiful surrounding countryside. Walk out from the park to enjoy the adjoining areas of Woodland Trust forest. Local facilities at High Bickington (2 miles) include post office, shop, pubs, doctors. Activities include the 18 hole Libbaton Golf Course (3/4 mile), fishing, Tarka indoor/outdoor tennis (Barnstaple), cycling on the Tarka Trail, cinema and theatre (Barnstaple). The scenic North Devon costline and Exmoor are within easy reach.

Hello, we are Jane and Peter Wickson

E4427 is a chalet forest lodge along the A377 towards Exeter about 15 miles from Barnstaple. This is a two bed rental lodge on a wooded location.

We currently live and work away from the area but this is our holiday home which when not being rented to guests we love to retreat from our busy lives here.

Jane Wickson purchased this chalet in 2011

Why Jane Wickson chose North Devon

Our position provides our guests with the peace and privacy that we enjoy along with exceptional views from the balcony and ground floor to appreciate the surrounding country also an excellent viewing platform for stargazing! Allowing access to immediate woodland walks and other footpaths. Exeter is easily accessible for a day trip as is Exmoor and Dartmoor. After a day out come back total relaxation with a quiet game of Perrudo/Scrabble or cards or a bar- b -que, just try to keep the music at an acceptable level for others around. We provide a music dock for I phones a radio and the sound of nature aaah!

What makes this chalet unique

We enjoy the property all year round for visiting friends and family. We uniquely accept up to 2 well behaved dogs at a small additional fee.

There are lots of things to do and not just in the summer months - walking, cycling, beaches, some great pubs and restaurants, Exeter for shopping, sightseeing and of course - the rugby!

There's a station just down the road which is free all day so you can hop on the train with good links to Exeter and Barnstaple.

Notes on accommodation: Adjoining store can be used for bikes, wetsuits, golf equipment, fishing gear and walking boots etc. If you are bringing a dog please bring your own dog towels and please keep dogs off the beds. No smoking in the property please. If you smoke outside please don't drop butts. Wireless broadband is available. Outside: Adjoining store contains patio furniture which can be set up on the new patio by the main entrance. Please feel free to bring your own barbeque. One allocated parking space outside the lodge and a second space available nearby. Utility Room: There is a freezer in the outside shed. There is also the use of a tumble dryer at a small charge of an additional £10 per week. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen included. Please bring all your own towels for hand,bath,beach and/or dog.

Away from it all

This is a delightful property ideal for two couples - we stayed with our son, daughter in law and small baby. The accommodation is clean, well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. The addition of a downstairs shower room in addition to the two bathrooms was something we found very useful. The cottage overlooks mature woodland and the roofs of properties on the lower level so very private when you're inside. It's about a 40 minute drive to Barnstaple. There is information on the local area provided which was very helpful as well as a stock of board games etc and some books. Overall we enjoyed a lovely week and would recommend this to others who were looking for an 'away from it all' break.

A lovely place to stay

This is a lovely property tucked away on a quiet site of similar properties. To be honest it was that quiet you felt like you where on your own.

Everything we could need was in the property it was clean and spacious.

Approximately 20 minutes drive to Barnstaple.

Would stay again if in the area.

Owner's Response: We have enjoyed this lodge house all year round ourselves for quiet weekend getaways and for family and friends to meet at. It is quiet and relaxed yet with all the benefits from fast broadband such that one is able to continue working in peace and quiet. Surrounded by countryside and dark skies at night for star gazing its just perfect for winding down and enjoying the landscape of nature.

Lovely stay in Devon

My family and I, including one baby and two dogs recently stayed in this property for a week during the summer holidays. The lodges themselves are located off a small track and are very quiet and peaceful with gorgeous views of the countryside from the balcony. The lodge itself was very clean and comfortable, a modern interior with lovely furnishings and the open plan layout downstairs meant it was very sociable. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and plenty of seating. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, and the ensuites very handy. There are some nice walks directly from the lodge and lovely villages with nice pubs a short drive away. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area, thank you!

Saturday from 4pm on arrival and vacate by 10am on day of departure.

Notes on prices:
Prices include gas and electricity and linen.
PLEASE bring all your own towels i.e bath and hand, beach and pet.
Rates for short stay (3 night min) either weekend or weekdays are £80 per night except for Christmas and NewYear when they are £150 per night.
No short breaks i.e 3 nights during summer holidays and peak times weekly rates apply only.
