This large 5 star detached cottage is situated on the northern edge of the unique and breath-taking pembrokeshire coast national park in the picturesque village of trefin. The property, lovingly named ‘taneilan’ after the owners' children, is within walking distance of an excellent pub, a craft shop/ café, seasonal art galleries and a historic cove, Aber Felin, which is also on the coastal path. The property sleeps six comfortably and is of exceptional quality. ‘taneilan’ is a great place to be after your busy day exploring all that pembrokeshire has to offer, or indeed if you want a more relaxing experience ‘taneilan’ can offer you that time to reflect and unwind.

We both work, but spend most of our holidays at our home in Trefin, enjoying the spectacular beaches and coastal walks that are right on our doorstep. In fact Heidi was brought up in Trefin, where her parents still live and we have many friends in the village. So it really feels like home when we are there.

Warm, comfortable, well equipped home from home

Just returned from spending most of the October half term break in Trefin with our two teenage children and a teenage friend. The house is lovely and far exceeded our expectations. It is immaculately clean, and there is everything you need for a great stay. Being about 4 doors away from The Ship Inn was great, with The Mill Café next to that - perfect! There are great coastal walks you can do from the property, or Trefin allows easy access to other towns such as St Davids and Fishguard. We found it to be the perfect base for our break.

Dream house

This was a beautiful house - wish we could live in it permanently. It was modern on the inside but in keeping with the rest of the village. We were so comfortable here and it was incredibly peaceful. The location was ideal for us as we were walking the Wales Coast Path which passes through Trefin a few yards away. We used the bus which stops just across the road from this property.

Terrific week in Trefin!

We stayed in 'Tanellan' in Trefin and had a really great week, including some splendid Welsh sunshine. The house is exceptional, very spacious and very well equiped through-out with everything you might need. It is very "small child"-friendly with stair-gates, night-lights, cupboard catches, kids cups and bowls all ready. The kitchen/diner is outstanding and a great family space. Within 2 minutes walk there is a good pub (again family friendly) and a cafe serving food including delicious cooked breakfasts and cakes. It was the ideal place to escape to.

We thought Trefin was a great base with St Davids, Fishguard and Newgale beach all within an easy 20 minute drive and many other picturesque little coastal inlets much closer. It's an easy walk from the house to the coastal path and the nearby cove. The owners provided good instructions and lots of useful information on the local area in the house.

So, house and location both great! We all loved it and we all said how much we would like to come back and stay again. Whole-heartedly recommended!

Superbly appointed property. Ideal for a great, relaxing holiday.

We loved the house. It has been very well modernized and equipped. A delight and a surprise to walk through the doors of a traditional village house and find it welcoming and relaxing. It is ideal for a family or for friends to share.

It is very accessible to coastal walks and western Pembrokeshire. It is near to places like St Justin and Fishguard for sea trips to see gannets and seals, porpoise and especially Dolphins.

My sister-in-law her husband, my wife and I commend this house highly!

We chose the property with a view to moving into the village some time in the future, so we have put our heart and soul into the place. Heidi felt privileged growing up in Trefin, surrounded by endless coastline within walking distance, as well as numerous coves and bays, she could walk or cycle to everyday. Our kids can't get enough of the place. Even in the height of summer, it is easy to find secluded beaches and walks all to yourself. There is a staggering amount and variety of activities to enjoy in Pembrokeshire, whether you have children, are into arts and crafts, history and archaeology, boating, fishing, extreme sports, theme parks, wildlife and marine life, or simply want to get away from it all to relax in peace and quiet.

Coast/Beach:

This property is in the heart of the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The nearest beach is a few minutes walk away and is an attractive rocky cove full of caves and rock pools to explore as well as access to the 186 miles of coastal path.

There are numerous other beaches, from secluded sandy or rocky coves to vast sandy beaches within a short walk, cycle or drive. Popular beaches include White Sands (9 miles), Newgale (10 miles), AberEiddy (3 miles) and AberCastle (1 mile).

Travel:

The nearest airport is Cardiff airport (roughly 1 hour 40 minutes by car). Use of a car is recommended but there is a train to Haverfordwest (18 miles from Trefin) and then a bus or taxi to Trefin.

There is a port at Goodwick (8 miles from Trefin) which takes passengers and vehicles to and from Ireland. From Goodwick, one can take the bus or a taxi to Trefin.

Distances:

Nearest towns include Goodwick & adjoining Fishguard (8 miles), St Davids (8 miles) and Haverfordwest (18 miles).

There is a pub serving food and craft shop with cafe in Trefin. The nearest shop and garage is 1 mile away in Square & Compass. The nearest restaurants and art galleries are in Porthgain, 3 miles away. The nearest supermarkets, banks, pharmacy, doctors, dentists, and various other types of shops are in the nearest towns (8 miles away). There is a hospital and great variety of amenities in Haverfordwest (18 miles away).

There are numerous pubs, takeaways, cafes and restaurants in the surrounding villages and towns.

The area is astonishingly rich in sites, from beaches, outdoor activities and coastal walking right on Trefin's doorstep, to arts, crafts, castles, archaeology, theme parks etc. that are varying distances away.

Our house is recently decorated and everything, including floors, windows, kitchen and bathrooms, is brand new. It is a very spacious property with oak flooring or tiles, high ceilings and underfloor heating downstairs. Other features such as the log burner, flat screen TV, american sized fridge freezer, large induction hob stove, separate utility, chandeliers, hotel standard bathrooms and generously sized beds, plus balcony off dining room french doors, contribute to the luxury feel. Our children are three and six and the house was also decorated with children's safety in mind. Apart from stair gates, and optional fire guard and plug covers, the spacious garden is fully enclosed and the balcony decking leading onto the lawn is as non slip as possible.

  • Notes on accommodation: Regrettably no pets. Strictly no smoking in house or garden. Outside: Access to the garden is possible via the back door from the utility room, or via french doors to balcony and decked path, from kitchen-dining room. There is a beautiful view of the valley and coastline from the balcony. The garden can also be accessed directly from the front via a gated pathway. The garden gate can be bolted for additional security. Garden comprises large, fully enclosed south facing lawn with barbecue, garden table and chairs, clothes drying line, small covered sandpit, large lawn and exterior taps (front and back) suitable for filling paddling pools (not supplied) and cleaning boots, wet suits etc. There is off-road parking at the front of the cottage for one car and additional vehicles may park opposite the cottage on the street. Temporary parking for more than one vehicle directly in front of the cottage is permitted for the purposes of loading and unloading. Utility Room: Utility room includes washing machine, separate tumble dryer, double sink with draining board, plenty of storage, worktop area and back door to garden. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning at the end of your stay is free of charge. All linen included. Linen change part-way through longer stays is free of charge and additional cleaning is available for a small additional charge. Please bring own beach towels & cot bedding.
