The house is south facing and has two wonderful sunny verandas, one on each floor. The property will comfortably sleep a family of four or two couples, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. About Michelle Petrou

This property has been owned from new by my partner's parents. They adored the house and Alcossebre and spent many months here every year for twenty years. They are sadly now too old to make trips out here any more. I am now taking care of the house and found that I too love the house and Alcossebre. I travel out as often as I can, but due to work commitments, not as often as I like. This is why we have decided to start renting out this family's second home to discerning holiday makers, whom we hope will enjoy and take care of this lovely holiday home as if it were their own.

Michelle Petrou purchased this villa in 1994

Why Michelle Petrou chose Alcalà de Xivert

It is a lovely unspoilt resort. Remoteness from the crowds. No high rise buildings! On the edge of the town in quiet, idillic, rural location. Beautiful beaches and landscape. Relaxing and stress free.

What makes this villa unique

The swimming pool is steps from the front door. The beautiful beach is a 5 to 10 minute walk along a lovely country lane lined by almond groves.

There is a beautiful well maintained garden with mature palm trees surrounding the small private complex. It's situated alone, away from other properties, so quieter than many other complexes in Alcossebre.

There are lovely views of the mountains at the rear of the property with a beautiful sunset to watch in the evening.

It is near enough to the town, restaurants and facilities, but not so near you will be disturbed by the noise.

The house is visited frequently by me and maintained to a very high standard, it is not the average rental property!

Lovely villa on a fabulous complex

  • 5 of 5

The villa is a lovely 2 bedroomed villa with lovely views over the mountains (stunning sunsets) to the back and over the swimming pool from the front. The owners were very helpful before arrival, providing very useful and comprehensive arrival instructions, and were amazing when we unexpectedly had to extend our stay by a couple of days. The swimming pool has a safe paddling pool for toddlers and a big pool for everyone else. Our two boys spent pretty much all holiday splashing about in the pool. One learnt to swim and one to dive! The complex is brilliant for children as it is gated and completely enclosed so you can always be sure that children are safe, even if not immediately in sight! The beach is an easy walk, just a few minutes away. There are also a few good restaurants and a very well stocked shop by the beach. The pastries from the shop are highly recommended! The main town with more restaurants and shops is slightly further but can also be walked in about 1/2 hour, or easily driven. Alcossebre is a great town with some lovely beaches. La senia is a fab complex - most of the locals agree it is one of the nicest in town. All in all, a fabulous holiday and we would highly recommend this villa.

Lovely complex, rural but near sea and facilities

  • 5 of 5

Compact but spacious villa set in a small gated rural location with plenty of on-site parking. The villa was clean and well maintained and contained everything needed for a holiday stay. The complex has a nice pool set in well maintained gardens with plenty of space for sunbathing. My daughter and friend made good use of the Tennis court.

Whilst the villa is in a rural location, the sea, shops and restaurants were less than a 10min walk away. The owners provide a prompt and friendly service and we would happilly recommend this villa to friends and family.

Lovely villa for a family

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed for a wonderful fortnight and our 2 boys haven't stopped talking about it. This is a lovely house with plenty of room for 4 people and a wonderful veranda where we had all our meals (except the ones we had out). We loved this place and you will find everything is exactly as described. The pool really is 5 yards from the front step and the beach really is a short walk away, unlike some places we have stayed! The local restaurants are pretty good but we also enjoyed strolling into the town, which really isn't busy even at this time of year, other than the coastal strip where you can find lovely restaurants with fixed price menus that offer astonishing value. The walk to the town is along a beautiful protected dune environment with a boardwalk, where in the evening you can join in the paseo with everyone strolling along unhurriedly. Coming back at night we looked up and saw more stars than you have ever seen in our light-polluted skies. The beach is superb but quite honestly we spent a lot of our time around the house and pool, where everything is very pretty and beautifully maintained. We had a great time and I recommend it.

Peace at last

  • 4 of 5

I imagine the town can be very very busy in the summer season this property is in an oasis away from the bustle but close enough to enjoy a stroll to town. The property is on a small development and very quiet. Comfortable and clean and a great balcony for catching the sun as long as possible before night hits.

Location

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach, Playa Romana is a five minute walk away, there are three further beaches. They are all blue flag beaches which can be walked to in 5 to 15 minutes. Playa Romana beach is a lovely big clean sandy beach, sheltered by cliff tops and accessed by wooden stairs. There are toilets/showers on the beach. There is a volleyball net and pedalos, sunbeds and umbrellas available to hire in season. Las Fluentes beach is a 10 min drive away and has natural occurring underwater springs.

Travel:

Alcossebre can currently be accessed by flights into either Valencia or Barcelona Reus. They are both about one to one and a half hours drive away. It is recommended that you hire a car from the airport. It is cheaper to book in advance. You can chose to drive on either of two motorways, one a toll road and hence a much easier and shorter drive. It is possible to travel by train from Barcelona or Valencia, arriving at Alcala de Xivert. A taxi could be arranged from there to the villa.

Distances:

Castellon (30km) and Benicarlo (20 km) Vinaros (25km) are the nearest larger towns for bigger shopping trips, Peniscola is well worth a visit (16 km), a very pretty small town. A visit to Morella is something you should not miss! This is about 1 1/2 hours up mountain! (60km) A medieval village full of tiny specialist shops built in the tudor style, culminated by the remains of an enormous castle, at the precipist of the mountain, which you can explore, if you can stand heights!

Further Details:

Alcossebre had a large selection of restaurants, serving a variety of foods from around the world as well as Spanish tapas bar and lovely fish restaurants. These are spread throughout the town from Playa Romanza down to and around the Marina and into Las Fluentes. There are a number of good supermarkets. The recently build Consum has plenty of free parking, including basement parking to keep your car cool. It is a good size store and stocks most things that you would require and has an excellent fresh fish counter and stocks plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. You will find it signposted around the town. There are some boutiques with unusual collections and you can purchase some good quality shoes and handbags in the town centre. There are wonderful small shops of interest round the town, including a honey and healthfood store. The town also possesses some lovely patisserie shops. There is a large tourist information office by the seafront. There is also a small tourist information kiosk near Playa Romana beach and a cashpoint machine and public telephone nearby. There is a horse riding centre on the outskirts of Alcossebre. You can arrange to go Suba diving from the Baraccuda Diving Centre at the Marina In Alcossebre. There are lots of natural conservation parks in and around Alcossebre. with unusual wild flowers growing prolifically. You may wish to hire a bicycle to explore or take to walking to explore the general area. There are frequent festivals of celebration on Saint days in Alcossebre. which are interesting to experience whilst you are there. Taking a walk by the seafront in the evening you may find a band playing, sometimes classical sometimes rock. There may be a minature bull fight taking place in a portable bullring, a fireworks display one evening! It all makes for an eclectic mix of entertainment! There are several banks including Santander. There is a medical centre in the middle of town and a police station. There is a waterpark at Benicassim.
