House in Reriz, Beira Alta, Portugal - Rural Location, Comfortable Family House, Breathtaking Views, 10 Minute Walk From River Swimming

Comfortable, traditional 4 bed family house. Includes terraces, ample off road parking, secure gardens safe for children and pets, terraces, swimming pool, functional kitchen with all white goods, washing machine and dishwasher. Cable television and internet access. All linen and towels are provided. Located rurally, the village offers a small shop, children's playground, short walks to the river for fantastic swimming, a cafe/restaurant and easy access to other larger towns and cities such as Castro Daire, Viseu, Lamego and Aveiro which offer restaurants, shopping and golden beaches. For those who enjoy mountain walks Reriz is perfectly situated in a valley surrounded by pine forests which offer many opportunities for exploration and enjoyment. The River has various pools and beaches, with one sandy beach at Reriz, another at Cabacos 2km away, enjoyed by us when we go each year and the locals. Locals are friendly, warm and welcoming.

About the Owner

I am married with two children. I've been going to Reriz all my life with my parents and brother and now take my family (including dogs) with me! We love it and go every year taking friends and family with us. Apologies for not having many photographs for the inside, I'm planning to take more next time we go and will upload more then! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Special interest holidays:

Perfect for those who love walking, exploring, local culture, painting and relaxing. It is sometimes possible to provide riding by prior arrangement. For those who like this but require a little more, Reriz has good accessibility to larger towns such as Castro Daire, a 15 minute drive away, which offers a supermarket, shopping, cafes, bars, restaurants, banks, a children's playground and daily fresh fish and fruit and veg markets. The modern city of Viseu, a 30 minute drive away, offers not only large air conditioned shopping malls including a large cinema and indoor ice rink! Large international supermarkets, designer boutiques and restaurants but also history by way of a cathedral, museums, traditional shopping streets and restaurants - the Cortico is highly recommended. Lamego, 20-30 minute drive, offers spectacular views, an amazing climb up hundreds of ornate steps to churches, restaurants and shops.

Each individually worth visiting and enjoying.

Coast/Beach:

Aveiro is an about hours drive away along the motorway. The city offers modern restaurants and boutiques, combined with traditional buildings and canals which can be enjoyed on boat trips. The beaches just beyond Aveiro are clean with white sandy beaches and offer a the more typical attractions of beach holidays.

Travel:

Porto airport is approx 1 1/2 - 2 hours drive. Lisbon airport is approx 3 hours drive. Reriz is approx 380 miles from the Spanish ferry port of Santander and is an easy days drive.

Distances:

Castro Daire is a 15 minute drive

Viseu is a 30 minute drive

Lamego is a 20-30 minute drive

Porto is a 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive or you can catch a train from Regua (30 minute drive) which takes you on a stunning riverside trip directly into central Porto.

Further Details:

The weather has a Mediterranean climate, with normally hot summers of above 30 degrees during July and August. As the house is in the mountains it is usually cools to around 15C at night. Little rain falls during the summer, but the winters are usually quite wet so we only let the property during the 'good' season from April - September. Mobile phones do work in the house, although reception can be a little patchy depending upon network!

Payment includes use of all amenities, linen, towels, electricity and gas for cooking.
A maid service is available at extra cost if you wish to have this service during your stay, any payments would be made directly to them.

Changeover Day:
Change over days and arrival and departure times are flexible but normally run from Saturday to Saturday.

Notes on prices:
The prices are shown on pounds £ (sterling) but you are welcome to pay the equivalent in euros.

  • Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 9 (4 Bedrooms) and a single bed space upstairs on the landing area that can be made more private with a curtain pulled across the landing. Notes on bedrooms: 3 upstairs bedrooms, 1 double and 2 twin rooms and 1 double bedroom downstairs all would have space to fit a travel cot if necessary. All bed linen provided.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Guests have internet access via wifi, once bookings are confirmed and paid for then codes can be supplied to enable access. All plates, cups, glasses etc are provided. We would ask that any breakages be replaced for the use of other guests and ourselves as we go every year for our family holiday. Fresh bread is delivered daily to your door from the local bakery. Outside: The house offers a private outdoor swimming pool whose temperature is usually 20-25C in mid summer, and overlooks the village and mountains. The pool is perfect for a quick dip to cool off. For those who prefer more space for swimming then the river is a 10 minute walk and provides deep, clean, open pools from a sandy beach. The terrace provides an outside dining area with a marble topped table and garden chairs. The garden provides space for off road parking, has lawns for playing and fruit trees from which you are welcome to help yourselves! From the kitchen there is are paved terraces with a large washing line and space for a small bbq, which is provided. Charcoal is available from the local shop. Utility Room: Washing machine provided outside washing lines in situ. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels provided. A maid service is available during your stay at an extra cost. The house is thoroughly cleaned, laundered with beds made before each arrival (included in the cost). Other: Fully stocked dining room with table linen.
