About Gerald

I live in Sydney with my wife and son. We have been coming to Callala Beach since 1993 and now are almost locals. We try and get down at least once a month and so keep a close watch on the property and its maintenance.

Gerald purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Gerald chose Callala Beach

We stumbled on to Callala Beach after reading a magazine article. It took only the first visit for us to fall in love with the place. However, it took another year before we found Dolphincove - we named it after the dolphins that swim past the cottage most days. We love it for its quietness - truly a place to get off the grid. Ten people on this 5km beach is a crowd. Even in stormy weather, it is highly therapeutic to don a jacket and to go for a long stroll. When it is sunny, the water is crystal clear. Avoid getting frightened by your own shadow on the seabed like I did, that first weekend.

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoy going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves. The night air is so clear that you get an amazing view of the Milky Way. It's smaller size means that it is highly affordable for couples or small families and still be on the beach. Most other properties in the area are much larger. Although Callala Beach itself is very quiet, you are within easy driving distance to many amenities in the area. For overseas rentals, we are looking at stocking the fridge with enough food to get you settled in. Please ask for information when booking. All rentals receive a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival.

Guestbook comments from the manager

-"We all agreed that the cottage was lovely, suited our family and will return"

-" the accommodation was clean and cosy."

-" Cottage was comfy. We all enjoyed WiFi (our son the most). Like the seaside theme, starfish, shells, lighthouses etc "

Best view in the world

We have been to Jervis Bay many times, first time staying at Callala Beach. The cottage is small but very comfortable, and clean, well provisioned, everything you would need. When you open the blinds, there is the beach and the Bay in all its glory, dolphins - yes, sea eagles - yes, whales - only 1 that we saw, bird life, noisy, colourful, always hungry!!!!! We did lots of walks, along the beach and to a lot of other walking tracks, found the Myola ferry that runs at the weekend and took that over to Huskisson, able to enjoy lunch in the Husky without worrying about driving. Since we last came Aldi and Woolworths are both on the main road, which is useful. Weather wasn't wonderful, but didn't keep us in. Very enjoyable all round

Love the location

  • 4 of 5

We found that the cleaning was not very well done with a few bits of loose dirt in the back corner near the standard lamp, plus my wife felt that the sheets had not been freshly changed, not that I noticed, but she did mention it. The towels supplied where very nice and clean and soft and plenty of clean tea towels for washing up. I feel that we did a better job of tidying up the place with a good vacuum right thru the whole house and stacked up all the towels in the bathroom. Also we had a bad experience with the weather !! But I know that is the luck of the draw, so no good complaining about that, just thought that I would mention it, ha ha.

Great beachside cottage with expansive views over Jervis Bay.

  • 5 of 5

Spent 5 days at Dolphin Cove and was a great experience with expansive views over Jervis Bay and we even spotted some dolphins on a number of occasions. The beach front access was also a plus with just a few steps into the water for a refreshing dip. Hope to visit again. Many thanks Gerald.

I live in the country and very rarely travel to the beach, this little beach shack has so much character and the owners have taken the time to put in beautiful towels comfy warm sheets and blankets, cant say enough good things about this stay and the views are so amazing.

I really didn't want to leave.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased to hear of your stay at Dolphincove. Thank you! We are trying to keep the fine balance between mods and coms and re-capturing the care free atmosphere of an Aussie beach holiday. We appreciate it when that is recognised.
