Overview

Property

Updated: 31-Oct-2016
House in Slapton, Kingsbridge, Devon, England - Comfortable Home With Glorious View To The Sea. Walking Distance To Lovely Village And Slapton Sands

Highclere is a very well-equipped home from home above the picturesque village of Slapton. All the living rooms make the most of the great view and the large garden, with furniture and barbecue, is perfect for children to play in. There is ample room to park (something of a bonus in a Devon village) and level access to the house. The downstairs double bedroom and bathroom make the house ideal for two families, for the elderly or those with mobility problems. Slapton Sands is one mile away and safe, family beaches are within an easy drive. Slapton has two pubs serving excellent meals and there are several very good butchers, fishmongers and farm shops in the area for food lovers. The lively towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe are close by, with shops, historic buildings, sailing, ferry rides and fishing and boat trips. Coastal walks are spectacular, the famous Slapton Ley provides a wealth of wildlife to watch and children will love all the amusement parks in the wider area.

About the Owner

We have had a home in Slapton since 2001. Back then our children built sandcastles and paddled at Blackpool Sands, but now are more likely to be found sailing, fishing or enjoying the local pubs. It is a wonderful, relaxing retreat for us and we never want to go home.

We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

'Just a few lines to say what a wonderful time we had at your lovely house. It was so peaceful and relaxing that we all wanted to stay there. The property was clean, warm and superbly equipped with everything you need, and the views are to die for. Thank you.'

'Just back from a fine and very relaxing week at your home in Slapton. It worked particularly well as we had my parents with us so the self contained lower floor worked very well and the excellent garden and locality of a park was great for our children. We all enjoyed the quiet surroundings and view of the coast from the garden. The area and local pubs were first rate too.'

'Had a wonderful time at Highclere. House exceeded our expectations... beautifully clean and everything we needed was there (which is a first!!)especially in the kitchen, and we have stayed in many, many places! What wonderful views..spent the first day going for a stroll then relaxing in the garden! Perfect! Really felt like home to us.'

Great location with fabulous views

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable house, with lots of space inside the property and everything that you need for a holiday cottage. Set in its own grounds with fantastic views over the countryside to the sea a short distance away. We visited with my daughter and her family and there was lots of space for everyone. The 2 pubs in the village serve very good food and within walking distance. Blackpool Sands and Hope Cove were our favourite beaches. Dartmouth only a short drive away and lots to do for the tourist, including the steam train to Torquay. Would love to return.

Very clean house & stunning view

  • 5 of 5

Highclere is Extremely high standard, has everything needed, certainly one of the best on the site. Every detail had been thought out. Beds comfy, very clean. Very quiet surroundings, beautiful view. Lovely cake was waiting for us on arrival, (exactly shown on the picture.)

To be honest pictures does not describe the beauty of this stunning view. No hesitation in recommending this beautiful house.

Kids enjoyed very well in the huge Garden day and night.

Slapton sands is one mile away and visited couple of other beaches in a small driving distance. One of the best meats you can find in the Slapton farm shop for very reasonable price and enjoyed local beer and cider too.

Very friendly owners and great communication. Thanks Anne for all the advices given us to make most of it during our holiday.

Can't say enough nice things about this accommodation, we absolutely love it. We would have no hesitation in booking a holiday again.

Spacious, comfortable property, stunning location

We had a wonderful holiday in this lovely, superbly equipped property. Perfect for family holidays with its large garden which our 10 yo and 8 yo boys loved. Amazing views to the sea and tranquil village location - great facilities with two pubs and a village shop. Plenty to see and do in the beautiful local area. We didn't want to come home!

Chalet bungalow in immaculate condition throughout and extremely well equipped. Good sized garden with views across countryside to the sea. Peaceful surroundings and lovely home made cake on arrival!!!! Owners are efficient and friendly. This holiday rental home is not cheap but is a cut above the average and is highly recommended. Good pubs in the area for eating out.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Highclere is bright and airy and centrally heated. The interior is cheerful and equipped as a home away from home. Three living rooms and a garden mean that there is plenty of living space for everyone. It is quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Due to the steep, ungated stairs and low windows in bedroom 2, however, we do not think Highclere is suitable for toddlers. Unfortunately we cannot accept pets. Outside: The large gardens face the sea and have a barbecue, table, chairs and sun loungers. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, t-towels and hand towels are all included. No bath or beach towels. Weekly clean and linen change, available at no extra charge during stays of over one week. Other: Sunny conservatory with seating for four.
