The Old Boat-house is a timber building of character in the grounds of Ashtree Villa. Backing on to open fields and woodlands and only a 2 minute walk to the bridge at the head of the Helford River. Gweek is well known for the National Seal Sanctuary and Gweek Quay Boatyard where traditional wooden boats can be seen being built. The boatyard has boats of all shapes and sizes either being laid up or having work done. The village has a great local pub/restaurant, village shop and post office and has many lovely walks though nature trails and riverside.
I am a lover of all that Cornwall has to offer, great beaches, great people, fantastic scenery and typical country pubs.
We also like to travel and the Canary Islands, Caribbean and Australia are my passion. Water draws me like a magnet. Either in it or on it I just have to be near it.
Steve Clarke purchased this chalet in 2011
Gweek is the perfect place for us, small enough to feel part of the community but large enough for privacy and it gives us the freedom of long country walks, nice river views and of course the local pub. There are many places of interest for visitors such as the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Lizard Point, Lands End,. Local towns such as Falmouth, Helston, Truro and Penzance are within an easy drive. For people wanting more excitement resorts such as Newquay and St Ives are a short drive away. In the Autumn and winter you can really see what the real Cornwall is like without the hordes of holidaymakers. For garden lovers we have the lovely Trebah and Glendurgan gardens leading down to the beautiful Helford River. A little further afield the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden project are certainly worth a visit. You may be lucky and witness a storm and see the Atlantic in full force with magnificent waves crashing onto the beaches and harbours such as Porthleven, Portreath and Sennen Cove. What more can you want?
The area is central so the north coast and south coast beaches are quite close. Being an individual property you are not surrounded by noisy kids or dogs barking like you would find on a cramped holiday park. The owners offer weekend breaks and for photographers guided tours can be arranged showing the best landscapes, seascapes and if you would like to catch surfers in action we can show you the best vantage points. For Canon users if you need a longer lens we can loan you a 500 mill lens to capture the surfers close up. We also have use of a barn studio and local models.
We had a fantastic holiday in Cornwall. Your accommodation was perfect.
Thank you so much.

The Boat House is a beautifully clean, well equipped and maintained, comfortable home from home in idyllic surroundings. Situated in the village of Gweek, just yards from the local pub and shop, it has everything you could possibly want, in a perfect location. It is close to many attractions and is just a short car journey from Helston, Penzance, Falmouth and Truro.
The owners, Irene and Steve are very friendly and welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble. They were really helpful and went out of their way to make this a perfect break for us.
It's a shame we are only allowed to give up to five stars, as we would definitely award you ten.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend it to all our friends. Already looking forward to our next visit!
