Apartment in Tavira, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - Cabanas Is An Unspoilt Fishing Village With A Beautiful Long Sandy Beach With Parasols And Sun Beds

Our holiday home is a penthouse apartment with sea views from the terraces and 4 swimming pools. It is furnished to a very high standard and has airconditioning in the bedrooms and living rooms which also provide heating in the cooler months. The fishing village of Cabanas has great restaurants and bars and is just a few minutes walk from the apartment. There is a daily market in the village selling fish, meat, fruit and vegetables, and a number of local supermarkets. There are a number of good golf courses available just a short drive away including Benamor at the end of the road. The quaint town of Tavira is 3 miles away with many very good restaurants. There is a large shopping centre in Tavira with a variety of stores including a Continente supermarket. The area has something for everyone, a beautiful beach, fishing, cycling, bird watching, water sports, walking. Whilst it is good to have a car to explore the area it is not a necessity. We are also able to provide free wi-fi.

Lovely apartment

Had a wonderful holiday in this superb apartment, it is equipped with everything you need on a holiday both inside, outside and for the beach. it's in a great location, short walk to the small resort front, boats to the beach and lots of good value restaurants. We would certainly go again.

We love the area of Tavira and Cabanas. It offers the ideal location for a relaxing holiday, great beaches, countryside and restaurants. We love the fact that although there are tourists from many countries visiting Cabanas, its also a real favourite of the Portuguese many of whom have holiday homes here. It is also a real working village, which means when you visit in any season there are still people around, its not just a summer location.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary


The apartment is just a 4 minute walk to a wonderful white sandy beach with sun beds and parasols to rent beach bars and restaurants. The beach is reached by using the water taxis across the lagoon in Cabanas village. There are also many other great beaches all along the coast line. There are great connections into the local towns and along the Algarve by bus and train within easy walking distance of the apartment, so although a car is nice, it's not essential.


You can fly into Faro airport. The airport is served by many different airlines with good schedules throughout the year. The airport is approximately 30 minutes drive from the apartment. Whilst a hire car is useful to explore the surrounding areas, its not essential for the location of the apartment as you will have everything you would need within easy reach. Taxis from the airport will cost around 40€. There are many restaurants and bars in the village and you can walk to the beach.


The apartment is located in Cabanas village, there are plenty of local supermarkets, butchers, bread shops etc, along with restaurants and bars. The beautiful town of Tavira is just a few kilometers away. Vila Real on the Spanish border is around 20 km away.

Further Details:

There are banks located in the village with ATMs which is very convenient. The quality of the restaurants is excellent - if you enjoy shellfish - you will love the local restaurants, with the fishing huts located on one side of the road and the fish restaurants on the other - you won't get fresher fish! For anyone wishing to BBQ or cook at the apartment, there is a large supermarket and shopping mall located in Tavira or smaller supermarkets in Cabanas. There is a daily market in Cabanas village selling fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables and there is also a large market in Tavira, which is definitely worth a visit, especially on a Saturday morning when its at its busiest.

Keys can either be sent to you directly or our property managers can meet you at the apartment to do a full meet and greet service for a small additional cost.

Changeover day is flexible. Arrival time after 14.00 and departure time 10.00 am. Please check with the owner if you need different checkout or arrival times as this may be negotiable.

We chose our apartment because of its high quality finish and great location - we are just a few minutes walk from a wonderful white sandy beach, excellent restaurants and bars, with a very good golf course a few minutes away by car and other excellent courses very close by. The finish of the property is to a very high standard, all the kitchen appliances are SMEG and the bathroom furniture is all high quality. We have furnished our apartment as a home from home with leather sofas and chairs, good quality beds, and the kitchen is fully kitted out with everything you would need for either the odd snack or cooking a full meal.

  • Notes on accommodation: Our apartment is a 3 bedroomed penthouse which for rental purposes we rent as 2 bedroomed accommodation - being a 3 bed apartment this gives more space in the apartment and outside terraces than a typical 2 bed apartment. The apartment has a video security entry system. There is a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the kitchen and a dual fire/carbon monoxide alarm in the hallway. All the windows have electrically operated shutters. Airconditioning is provided for both cooling in the summer and heating in the winter months. For guests staying in the autumn/winter we also have oil filled radiators available for cooler winter months. As well as the beautiful Cabanas beach which just a short walk away, we have access to 4 shared swimming pools This is a strictly non smoking apartment. As this is a penthouse apartment there is no noise from anyone staying above. Outside: 3 patios - small patio off the living room; very large terrace off the kitchen giving plenty of space and having a large table and chairs seating 6 people and 2 covered pergolas; large built in BBQ and sink. On the roof terrace there are 2 sun loungers and a double seat to enjoy the sun, sunsets and sea views. Also on the roof terrace there is a full size wall mounted rotary washing line. Utility Room: Integrated washing machine in kitchen - full sized rotary wall mounted Brabantia washing line on roof terrace Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean linen will be provided on a weekly basis including bedding and towels. Beach towels are also provided for use during your stay. Other: Large terrace with table & chairs seating 6; large built in BBQ with sink; Outdoor sofa and 2 chairs and table - excellent for enjoying balmy evenings. Large roof terrace with 2 sun loungers and double seat. Wall mounted washing line.
