House in Suffolk, Aldeburgh, England - Situated In A Small Friendly Village Overlooking A Protected Water Meadow. 30 Mins Walk To Beach

The cottage was a second home to us when our children were young, and has a family feel about it. There is a sheltered patio at the back and a garden to the side, overlooking a water meadow straight out of a constable painting.

there are some wonderful adnams pubs close by, including the eels foot in eastbridge itself, which is just a 200 yard walk away. It has great food, a garden and a small children's playground. Leiston (3 miles away) has all the shops you might need and there are plenty of good restaurants around. There is a wonderful bakers called smiths, in leiston, just opposite the cinema - lovely, old-fashioned, white bread. There is a grocers called baker bros also in leiston, which sells the most delicious ham on the bone. Highly recommended.

We bought in this area because of its beautiful countryside, wonderful access to beaches and cultural resources. It is ideal for walkers and those who love birds and other wildlife. It is rural and off the beaten track, though easily reachable from london and the midlands.

lacking cleanliness

cooker hob bathroom tiles and kitchen sink need a good clean! good location for Minsmere excellant pub nearby.

Owner's Response: Cooker hob, guilty. Will do better next time!. Kitchen sink, yes (getting a bit elderly and probably needs replacing). Bathroom tiles, no (the grouting is MEANT to be grey!). And yes, ideally situated for bird-watchers and/or those who enjoy a brilliant pub within 5 minutes walk.

Location

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

Minsmere beach is a 30 minute walk across beautiful protected meadow land, with many opportunities to see wild horses, cattle and birds from the nearby RSPB sanctuary. There are family friendly beaches at Thorpness and Sizewell (less than 15 minutes drive), and Aldeburgh, Walberswick and Southwold can all be reached in less that 20-25 minutes.

Travel:

Eastbridge is difficult to reach other than by car, but taxis can easily be had from the nearest stations at Saxmundham and Darsham.

Distances:

Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Walberswick, Southwold and the famous Snape Maltings can all be reached in less that 20-25 minutes. Ipswich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft are all less than an hour away, while Norwich is a little bit further.

Further Details:

2 Chapel Cottages is an ideal spot for those wishing to attend the Aldeburgh Festival (in June), or the year-round events at Snape Maltings Concert Hall.
