House in La Jarrie-Audouin, Saint-Jean-D'Angely, Charente-Maritime - Peaceful Rural Location Within Easy Access Of The West Coast Beaches And Inland Attractions.

Set in beautiful countryside surrounded by fields of vines and sunflowers for most of the Summer, this house offers a quiet, secure and beautiful location for your holiday.

Nearby St Jean D'Angely provides great shopping, twice weekly market, bars and restaurants Nearer to home, a smaller village with two great bread shops are only minutes away for breakfast.

Whilst fabulous beaches are close at hand days spent at the house are poplular. The 10x5m in ground pool further adds to entertainment on offer (large games basket, table tennis, badminton, two bikes, boules) The pool (heated June to September) is fenced.

Recently inspected, the house has been awarded a prestigious 4 star rating by the French Office de Tourism, and has also been approved by the Alastair Sawday French property guide. The house is very well equipped and the kitchen popular with cooks (cook books supplied!) UK and French TV, WIFI links, games and books are also on hand. All bedrooms have a fabulous outlook over the fields and wafts of lavender from the beds below the windows aid restful sleep (all have full window mosquito blinds).

Coast/Beach:

Within an easy 35 min drive of the coast and 40 minutes from the idyllic Ile de Re. Other fabulous beach days are to be found on the Ile D'Oleron, Ile D'Aix, and the coast from Royan up to La Rochelle. The beaches are all safe, unspoilt, sandy and remarkably deserted.

Travel:

Airports: Bordeaux, Poitiers, La Rochelle, Nantes.

Ferry ports: Caen, St Malo, Calais (Channel Tunnel)

Use of car reccomended as public transport limited.

Local rail links are also good.

Further Details:

Local village offers two brilliant bakers (baked on the premises). There is a small market weekly and the essentials of cashpoint, chemist, newsagents and local general store. On Sundays oysters are sold in the village square.

Saint Jean D'Angely is an easy 8 minute drive away and is a beautiful medieval market town. It offers bars and restaurants, and twice weekly a fabulous market with local produce and an incredible array of fish and seafood. There is much to see in Saint Jean and it also has great sports facilities.

Other local places of note include Cognac, Saintes and Surges

The house is well supplied by a few big supermarkets within an 8/10 minute drive, and one of these now also opens on a Sunday morning, making planning easier for Saturday arrivals.

Notes on accommodation: Maison Cypres offers the opportunity to enjoy the character and beauty of a traditional French mansion with the contemporary luxuries of comfortable living. A welcome hamper will be supplied on your arrival, and further catering may be available on request. Outside: The covered terrace, furnished with comfortable sofas, offers a perfect location for a shaded daytime rest, dry play area if the weather is bad or sociable area for candlelit relaxation in the evening. The patio has a dining table seating 10/12 with sun umbrellas. There is a Weber kettle BBQ , and al fresco eating is easy with the kitchen only a step or two away. Further sun loungers and deckchairs are available for the patio or poolside. Gardens (an acre) extend in front and to the rear of the property and include a wide selection of fruit trees (feel free to pick whatever is ripe). The garden is fully secured and the house gated. A variety of games and equipment are available (including badminton, boules, 2 x bicycles etc) The private pool is 10x5m and has a 1.7m deep end. Heating will be provided from June to September and the pool is in a fenced landscaped area with a secure pool cover. Surrounded by patios on all sides it is an idyllic spot for a relaxing day! Utility Room: Leading from the kitchen the utility houses iron and board, and large washing machine and tumble dryer, and a selection of baskets and bags for market shopping. There is also a rotary dryer outside and a clothes airer for indoor use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are included (excluding beach towels). Fresh linens will be supplied in the second and subsequent weeks for longer bookings. Additional cleaning may be available, please enquire if required. Other: In addition to the al fresco dining on the patio there is a further covered terrace from French doors off the kitchen. This is furnished with rattan sofas and candles, and lanterns. Welcome shade during the day and perfect for drinks in the evening!

Stunning house - beautiful setting

We had an amazing 2 weeks here with our children, family and dog. The house and garden were stunning and the pool was brilliant and used every day. Local villages and restaurants were fantastic and Claire the owner was the most helpful and lovely host we've ever met when renting. Fantastic in every way.

Well I'd rather not wax lyrical about how superb Maison Cyprés is, but it truly is a home from home and then some! The owner Clare is fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the house, the set up is incredible and the location superb... we'll be back!

Beautiful country retreat

We had a wonderful stay at Maison Cypres, relaxing and reading our books. There was also plenty of time for enjoying the pool and playing table tennis - Granny and our son had some good matches! The house was beautifully decorated - it was a pleasure to be in the rooms - and well-resourced. I think you would be hard pushed to fault the range of kitchen equipment. We also spent a day cycling at Ile de Re and an afternoon sight-seeing in La Rochelle, both of which were about an a hour's drive away. All in all, we had a brilliant time - lots of space in the garden for the dog too! I would also add that Clare, the owner, was very attentive and on hand to provide information about the local area.

Beautiful peaceful the perfect base

The house is just stunning and sits in an enclosed safe site, perfect for children and pets. Beautifully decorated throughout and equipped to a high standard. Every gadget you need is in the kitchen! The garden and pool are perfect for relaxing in and enjoying the sunshine. The beds are made up with lovely white cotton and extremely comfortable. I would certainly recommend 100% ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful

We stayed here for a week and it just wasn't long enough! There was a big party of us - 4 adults and 3 children yet there was still plenty of room for all us. The highlight was the shaded terrace, pool and garden - which was huge! Loved the peaceful white decor and the house had everything we needed, including toys and games for the children.
