About the Owner
About Mrs Jean Baylis
My family and I enjoy walking, cycling, horse riding and sailing. The location at Cottage Farm is ideal for all these pursuits and more. I also enjoy painting and arrange art workshops in various media in the studio at the farm. I particularly love landscape which, is in abundance in our surrounding areas of the New Forest and Dorset's finest countryside. My paintings are regularly exhibited and some are displayed in the cottages. We enjoy meeting our many visitors from all over the world and sharing this special environment.
Mrs Jean Baylis purchased this cottage in 1999
Why Mrs Jean Baylis chose East Dorset
On the brink of the millenium, my family and I discovered Cottage Farm. Located on the border of the historical and beautiful areas of the New Forest and Dorset's Cranborne Chase, the area is ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding. Ringwood Forest and Moors Valley Country Park offer acres of accessible tracks, all through the year, together with a lake, tree top trail and more. Sea fishing and water sports at the coast are only7 miles to the south, whilst, access to the historical towns of Salisbury, Winchester and on to London are all within easy reach (London approx 2 hours by road). There is something for everyone. Over the years we carefully developed two detached holiday cottages and enjoy sharing this special environment with visitors from many parts of the world.

Keeper's Cottage was everything we had wished for re cleanliness, convenience and was well equipped. Location ideal for the itinerary we had planned with easy access to all areas. Jean and Les were very pleasant and easy to get on with giving us advice on local places to eat. A nice touch on our arrival were the tea and biscuits along with nice fresh free range eggs from their hens. The New Forest of course is an area of natural outstanding beauty so for walkers just heaven. Would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation. A great supermarket within 5 minutes drive if you do not want to eat out. Lots of wild life and seeing the deers at such close proximity from the garden was a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend.
