About Lolita & Colin

Lolita and Colin are a Brazilian/British couple who live in Cardiff and take frequent trips to Las Jaras. We go to Las Jaras 3-4 times a year and enjoy being there on all seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer or Autumn.

Lolita enjoys staying around the house on her own or in the company of family and friends, whilst Colin can be found most often roaming the hills.

For both of us it is a fantastic getaway, relaxant and tonic and we hope it will be for you too – all our guests love it at Las Jaras and they all enjoy it in their own way.

Why Lolita & Colin chose West Costa del Sol

The house is very comfortable and well equipped and has a spacious feel to it. Guests say they feel very much at home. It is close to both mountains and beaches.

From the terraces and balconies you can have your meals looking at beautiful views of Gibraltar and the mountains of North Africa. It is wonderfully quiet and secluded, even though there are neighbours only a couple of minutes away.

The private swimming pool is set in the lovely garden, maintained by our wonderful gardener, Jorge. There is a range of excellent restaurants nearby – though if you want to stay at home and not cook, and get a taste of real Spanish food, you can always order Dominga’s paella.

What makes this villa unique

We chose this location because of all the different possibilities, that satisfy the varied desires of our extended family who stay at Las Jaras. Whatever you want to do, you can do it at and from Las Jaras.

It is a very peaceful location for lounging by the pool or on one of the many terraces. It is 20 minutes from a range of lovely and safe beaches and 10 minutes from the nearest golf course.

There is a wide range of walking available, from gentle strolls from the house through to wild mountains to ascend. For the naturalists there are many birds, most notably the eagles and other birds as well as a wide range of beautiful flowers in spring.

With all the 'White Villages', Ronda, Cadiz, Jerez and Seville, and even Stone Age cave paintings, we believe Las Jaras can satisfy all tastes.

We have had a fantastic 10 days staying here. The villa is lovely with AMAZING views, it all exceeded our expectations big time! We recommend the fab beach by the part of Duquesa, we enjoyed a few brilliant afternoons there. On a cloudy day we drove through Casares, Gaucin and on to Ronda. It was breathtaking - lovely white wasted buildings and beautiful views, definetly recommend and the roads were easy. Thank you.

Wonderful Villa in lovely position near Casares

The listing about the property was very accurate. The views from the villa were stunning. It was very private and quiet. The house is designed for the summer heat so the bedrooms are downstairs with the living property being upstairs. We did get a bit cold in the evening downstairs even with heating but it was April! There was plenty of room for being sociable or for spending time away from others. The swimming pool was quite small but it was heated and that was fab in April when it could be quite windy. We swam every day. Pool towels were provided which was brilliant and meant we didn't have to bring them. It was lovely to sit and read on the sun loungers and look out on the beautiful views. The kitchen was well supplied - we often find that holiday houses lack a lot of kitchen items but this one was great. Everything was well-maintained and worked! Plenty of hot water. Comfortable beds. Spare bedding. Washing machine and drying equipment. The property was very clean and well looked after. Karin was very welcoming and provided us with helpful information. She was also very nice when she came to say goodbye. We were able to stay beyond the normal leaving time because no one was booked in for a few days. We would definitely recommend this property to others. We did find the roads quite scary and our hire car wasn't very happy about the drive up to the villa!! A lot of the local restaurants were closed in the evenings (except at the weekends) as it was out of season. But it's a beautiful area and we had a lovely time there. We did a two hour walk to Casares which is such a beautiful village.

Everything you need for a great holiday and the best views ever!

The first thing I must mention is that the weather was a bit pants and because of this we couldn't use some of the facilities like the pool and the sun terraces or even garden, but we had eyes and we could see that had the sun been hotter there would have been lots more to keep us at home around the villa. However, we toured or walked somewhere every day instead and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. One day we went to Casares and spent a long while exploring all the streets and walking up to the castle. It truly is a beautiful town and you must stop at the mirador first for your photos. One day we drove to Gaucin and it was similarly beautiful and a lovely drive. We had never been to Gibralter before so we drove over and spent an enjoyable 2 hours on a taxi tour which is definitely the way to do it. Some people park on the Spanish side and walk over to avoid delays at the customs but it is quite a walk and if you arrive after 9 and leave before 2 or 3 then it should be ok. We walked the nearby beach and visited the very pretty old town of Estepona which we would highly recommend. There is a lovely walk from the back of the villa around the ridge and over to Casares. It took us about 90 minutes and was very steep in places but we took it slowly and enjoyed it. We walked back along the road which isn't too busy at this time of year. Apart from the vultures and other birds of prey you may come across goats and the odd horse.

There are 2 restaurants within 10 to 15 minutes walk or else you have to drive. We much preferred The Forge for the quality of food and ambience. It only opens at lunchtime except in summer but believe me once you have had lunch there you won't need to eat for the rest of the day. The owners and staff are just lovely. You may need to book. We didn't much enjoy The Arroyo Hondo but maybe we caught them on a bad night. We believe their lunch menu is good value but the dinner one certainly wasn't. Venta Garcia is about a 10 minute drive away and is also pretty good (but not as good as The Forge. :) )

You can see we had a good time but what was the villa like inside? Very lovely is the answer. Very much a home from home. Lovely pictures and ceramics and every window a joy to gaze out from. We used all 3 terraces to sit out on - depending on which direction the wind was. The kitchen is well equipped and dining in is easy. Lots of hot water and the CH worked a treat. We were very comfortable and Kristen is only a call away if needed.

Peaceful and pleasant villa with everything you could need on hand

We spent a week in Las Jaras with my elderly mother. The villa has great views, is well furnished, in a good location and all the terraces around it mean there is somewhere to sit in either sun or shade throughout the day. Being on the ground floor the bedrooms are cool and keeping the garden looking so lovely in a hot dry climate is a real achievement. We've booked again next year!

Fantastic chilled out holiday in a wonderful villa

What a fantastic villa. There are 3 adults in this group and we found it very spacious. Sitting on the upper terrace is amazing day and night. You are not far from the beach and small Spanish and less Spanish towns. The locals are very friendly. Really enjoyed our stay.

Our second visit to this little piece of paradise

Our second visit to Las Jaras was every bit as good as the first. It really is a little piece of paradise. The house is well equipped, comfortable and homely. The pool is a perfect temperature, warm but at the same time refreshing. The views from the house and garden are stunning. This is the perfect spot to unwind and relax. We intended to explore further afield during this visit but found it very difficult to tear ourselves away from the house and garden. We'll just have to go back!
