About Paul Clarke

We have been to the beautiful area of Cortona many times during the past 12 years for family holidays and adore everything about it. It's a fantastic Italian experience: friendly people and wonderful food, wine, coffee and ice-cream set amongst numerous amazing medieval villages and towns.

We have tried to create a little bit of luxury in a lovely rural setting and have painstakingly renovated our house to maintain it's character and provide modern convenience. The peaceful location offers lots of variety with great access for day trips. Relax by the pool or go for walks/cycling from right outside the house. Eat in/dine out - you're spoilt for choice in summer and winter.

We hope that you will be tempted to visit and make our home your home and so begin your love affair with Cortona

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well it is a sad day indeed. We have to leave your beautiful home! We have had the most wonderful 2 weeks. The house is perfect. We love the way you renovated it and decorated it and it is so comfortable.

There is nothing that was lacking at all.

Your guide book is really helpful too and we did a lot of what you suggested. The best one for us ended up being the fishing.

We also enjoyed the bike paths.

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us and your kind hospitality in making us so comfortable and welcome.

Julia, Matt and children.

Fantastic location and villa

  • 5 of 5

Paul and Heathers house in Tuscany is 'home from home' - all the amenities are great - comforatable beds, great shower with loads of hot water, lovely wood stove, and well equipped kitchen. Outside is also so comfortable with the pergola and BBQ area and extensive lawn and swimming pool.

The location is great if you like to explore and what a variety of places to go - within a week we were up in the snow in the mountains at a ski resort, in Florence for the day by train, boat trip on lake Trasemino, Siena, outlet shopping and local walks around both the house and Cortona.

A most enjoyable home to relax either for the day or to return to in the evening. Either cook in and relax or many lovely places to eat including a most enjoyable visit to Agrisolata and an exquisite meal. Ann and John

Exceptional house, location and service!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Heather and Paul

We have had the most wonderful holiday. Your house is truly magnificent in every respect including its perfect location! Tuscany was magical and we enjoyed reading and following your excellent guide. We particularly enjoyed Cortona, Montepulciano and lake Trasimeno as well as a hectic but rewarding day trip to Florence.

However, the things we enjoyed most were driving down those country roads back to the house on most afternoons for a few hours of sun and pool followed by dinner in one of Cortona’s excellent restaurants in the evening and then a relaxing night back at the house for a glass of wine and to continue reading “The Pursuit of Italy”, from your book collection, which sadly I didn't quite finish so will be ordering a copy!

Thank you for your excellent service and attention to detail. We will definitely be returning.

A little piece of heaven

  • 4 of 5

It is a great pleasure to share our experience of this lovely farmhouse in Tuscany. The open plan reception/kitchen/

diner was comfortable, well maintained and well planned. The kitchen contained everything you could possibly want or need, with modern hob, oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The bedrooms were light and airy and the beds were really comfortable. The bathrooms were well appointed and had great showers. As we were there for two weeks we were informed that bedding would be changed at the end of the first week. Not only was the bedding changed but the bathrooms were cleaned and she swept through as well. What wonderful service.

The garden was very well tended and twice a week the pool was cleaned. If you were planning on doing serious lengths of the pool you might be a little disappointed as it isn't enormous, but if like us you were simply looking for some cool water to relax and play in then you will be quite happy.

The location of the property is idyllic. We had wonderful days out in Cortona, Sienna and Florence to name but a few. Paul and Heather provided very comprehensive information about the local area, towns and restaurants. We spent two weeks here and I feel we only just started to scratch the surface of what is available.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this farmhouse to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful location to use as a base for exploring this beautiful region.

I look forward to many more holidays in Italy and in Tuscany in particular.
