FANTASTIC !

Fantastic .. we stayed there for 5 nights . It is wonderful, large and very well equipped. A delightful and peaceful house that oozes character and charm that exceeded all our expectations .

Marvellous area and defiantly worth a visit, also next door produces their own Cognac and are happy to show you around !

The owner Hugues was very accommodating.... Thank you , I am sure we will return many times. We have not stoped smiling since our retuen !

Spacious living

The whole family enjoyed the holiday. The property provided lots of space for us all to join together or find to find a quiet spot. The grandchildren particularly enjoyed the garden, heading straight out each morning. The house is secluded but only a few minutes drive from Jarnac where we spent many happy hours both sitting in cafes or enjoying the canoes on the river. It is in a great spot from which to go exploring whether that be Cognac or Angouleme.

Thank you for allowing us to share what is clearly a family home.

Location

From the Owner

Although I live in Paris, I keep a special attachment to this house built by our family in 1744. It has not been inhabited for the last three generations but since my childhood it has been the magical setting of numerous holidays with a bunch of cousins. We lived it old style countryside with cows, crop and hand picking grape harvest. We now rent it to maintain and restore it off course, but also for the benefit of our tenants who will discover a place with unique charm.

Special interest holidays:

Nearby activities: Strolling and boating along the slow moving Charente river, which King françois I called the loveliest river of his kingdom, passing through a placid landscape of vineyards bathed by a clear and radiant light. Canoing and swimming. Winery tour and sampling in the old distilleries of world famous firms. Visit of the romanesque abbeys and churches.

Coast/Beach:

La Palmyre - Situated between Royan and La Rochelle, Zoo de la Palmyre has over 1600 'residents' including polar bears, gorillas, Siberian tigers, rhinoceroses and elephants and is a great day out. La Palmyre also boasts one of the largest and less crowded beaches in the area.

Chatelaillon Plage - Just south of La Rochelle the golden sands stretching for almost 2 miles and the mix of typical early 20th C seaside architecture make this a family resort par excellence.

Travel:

Airports: La Rochelle (1h 20m), Bordeaux (1h 40m), Poitiers (1h 15m) Limoges (1h 30m).

Booking Notes:
A 30% deposit is required to book and the balance is due 30 days prior to stay. A security deposit of £500 is paid on arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally on Saturdays, departure being at 10am and arrival at 5pm. This can be flexible depending on occupancy and season.

Notes on prices:
Towels and linen are included. Change can be arranged for 2 week stays. Tenants may bring their own linen at a £100 discount on price.
Property is cleaned throughout prior to arrival. End of stay cleaning : £90.
Logs are supplied for the fireplace.
There is a £20 daily winter fuel supplement October-March inclusive (if necessay).

100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
