About the Owner

We have spent the last eight years converting an old stone barn in an old courtyard belonging to an 18th century farm or mas. We lived in a caravan for two years whilst we created two cottages with all mod cons but keeping the character of the stone buildings with beams and tiles and exposed stone. Being very keen gardeners we have also created a beautiful garden in the valley behind the property incorporating woods, flower borders and a vegetable patch.

This property is very well equipped

Upon entering the courtyard to this property first impressions were very good and inside the gite lived up to this as every detail was provided for to give a comfortable and welcoming stay, which was for us was 3 weeks, 1 of those weeks with a toddler.

Although the house and gardens were an attraction there was much to see and do within a very short drive from this location.

We enjoyed a fantastic week at Shelagh and Peter's beautiful gite. Perfect retreat in the stunning south west of France. Well equipped gite, home from home, all the small details thought about! Made to feel very welcome by our hosts. Will definitely return.

Fantastic Value

  • 5 of 5

Set amidst stunning countryside, the property is well situated for touring around the region. It is extremely well appointed with every possible amenity and immaculately clean. The open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen are spacious and the addition of the wood burning stove makes it suitable for year round occupation. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and the property has a perimeter fence and gate, making it suitable for children. The pool is lovely and well maintained by the owners who live in the adjacent property so any queries can be responded to quickly. Definitely worth a visit.

The most idyllic country farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time weve stayed with Peter and Shelagh. The first, as a young family of five and the second, as two couples. This beautiful country farmhouse has very tastefully been refurbed to retain all its wondeful charm and character but features all the modern facilities that weve become accustomed to in our own homes. We've found the home to be spotlessly clean with more than adeqaute living space for a larger family if needed. The gite is positioned in one of the most beautiful, unspoilt regions of France. Way off the tourist beaten track which is a major attraction to us yet close enough to large towns like Albi and Tolouse if needed. The whole area is knee deep in french history with some of the most wonderful little hamlets and citadels to explore. Dining out is not a problem either with a choice of relatively close by restraunts to fit all budgets and tastes. The area is well known for its wine making too. Peter and Shelagh are the perfect hosts. They will make you very welcome and feel completely at home. Non obtrusive but there if you need them and having lived their for a number of years know the region like the back of their hand. The area appears to enjoy a micro climate which is ideal for those wishing to getaway early in the year as we do. Having a dip in the swimming pool in April cant be bad. Summing up its 10 out of 10 for us.

A perfect winter "home from home"

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to use this lovely gite as an out of season base whilst we were completing the purchase of our own home and business in the area.

The property was perfect as our "home from home" for 3 months. It has the space, facilities (including WiFi) and equipment to live really comfortably. Particularly important, and unlike a number of gites we looked at, it is designed for all year round occupation. For example it has a wood burning stove and under floor heating. We were always warm and cosy despite it being a very cold winter. It was a great bonus to have the owners on hand with invaluable advice and local knowledge.

We couldn't have found a better long term rental and can unreservedly recommend it to others looking for a base in the area

From the Owner

Our hamlet lies in the heart of the 'golden triangle', the area between Gaillac Albi and Cordes sur Ciel. It is the perfect base from which to explore the hilltop villages, the local vineyards, the market towns and the stunning countryside of rolling hills and wooded valleys. The area is steeped in history and beside the fascinating historic buildings you can visit we are in easy reach of shops restaurants and cafes where you can sample the food of the area and the excellent local wines.

From the Owner

We have designed the gite to incorporate all of the things we would want in a holiday home and hope we have provided a comfortable base for our guests to explore the area or relax and enjoy the sun in our sheltered courtyard and enjoy a dip in the pool when the heat gets too much. We are situated on quiet country road and have two terraces for your use. There is a small river at the bottom of the garden which is available for fishing and we are close to our local village Cahuzac sur Vere which has two bakers, a butcher, cafe, post office, wine shop a local restaurant and two michelin starred restauarants.
