Quinta do Montinho 20 is one of a small collection of superbly appointed townhouses. The house is located in a quiet rural area. At the end of a Calsada road way it is not over looked and enjoys privacy and sunshine all day on the large balcony and in the garden. There are panoramic views of the countryside and the sea in the distance. There is a beautiful communal pool with attractive landscaped gardens. The house is located within the Parque da Floresta/Golf San Antonio Villas Golf and Spa Leisure Resort.Our guests can enjoy a discount on green fees. There are also many other facilities available to our guests including a spa, health and fitness center, floodlit tennis courts and a bowling club at reasonable prices. There are numerous beaches close at hand and several fishing villages including Salema and Burgau. The house is an ideal base for families or couples who enjoy fabulous beaches, exploring the countryside, restaurants too many to mention and towns such as Sagres, Lagos and Luz. The village has several restaurants and bars. Also a large Intermarche Supermarket for every day needs.

About the Owner

Val and I spend a considerable part of the winter months at QDM, family commitments permitting. We continually update the property to ensure it meets the standards we believe guests expect

Now retired having spent the last 10 years working in Sri Lanka and the Middle East, in the UK we live in the Lake District and thus the scenery in the Western Algarve appeals to us as does the friendliness of the local Portuguese.

Val is a keen tennis player whilst I golf. We both enjoy walking.

Our 2 daughters, their husbands and friends love to visit both to chill out whilst the children love the pool area and local beaches.

We have a local English property manager. Bob who with his staff are available to solve any problems in the unlikely event they should occur.

Exceeded our expectations

Despite the not so good weather, we had a great time. The house exceeded our expectations , great location, very well equiped and maintained. The owners went the extra mile to make the stay special: arranged for a small shop to get us going the first morning, checked with the golf course manager how to benefit from the residents greenfee rates and last but not least a well documented " blue book " with restaurant suggestions etc.

We definitely plan to come back .

Fantastic peaceful location with excellent facilit

I have been staying at this property for a number of years now and it just doesn't fail to deliver! The location is great - far enough away to be peaceful and relaxing but close enough to give you access to local shops and some really beautiful beaches and restaurants. The pool on the complex is immaculate and the gardens are also really very well kept. You have all the things you could need - including fee Wi-Fi which makes all the difference especially if you have children with you like I did. It is genuinely like a home from home just with a lot more sun and a lot less work! Definitely a place to stay - I will certainly be booking again. Thanks Nigel and Val for a really lovely holiday. Superb family holiday destination :)

This is our third visit to the villa - we now have 3 small children and Val and Nigel were fantastic in helping us to acquire some additional baby items. The villa is super and has everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The pool area provides a safe and fun area for the children with no sunbed politics and very friendly people. The pool area was quiet on some days even in August. Local beaches recommended by Nigel also provided a safe, fun day for the children where they could supervised easily. All in all fabulous and planning a revisit next year. Thank you

Absolute Perfection !

Writing a review about QDM 20 , is a bit like asking a child to write a review about Christmas Day - its all so good, you just don't know where to start. The ideal peaceful location, exceptionally clean and well appointed property, fantastic views, wrap around balcony (allowing sun throughout the day and evening, but shade if you want it) and close proximity to the golf course, restaurants, and some of the best beaches in Europe just make this Vila very hard not to choose. Having stayed in many similar properties on this development over the last 20 years (all very good), we have now re booked this one for the fifth consecutive year having found that all of the above make QDM 20 stand out from the rest . I simply cannot recommend highly enough !

Good quality

After detailed searching of all sites and as a holiday home owner and manager,I am very critical of poorly presented and equipped holiday homes. This property is superb and wonderful value.The beds are comfortable,the linen good quality,the bathrooms are up to date and spotless.The lounge furniture comfortable and solid. The kitchen equipped as if at your own home. No bendy forks here! The whole property is presented in an excellent way and is spotless. I would recommend this villa to all and we do hope to return again this year, I think that is the best advert of all well done Nigel and Val on a perfect holiday rental 5 stars from us thank you for sharing Debbie & Kim Obidos Portugal

Three weeks relaxation

Another family holiday passes with every one refreshed and relaxed, another 3 weeks enjoyed at 20 QDM! Being regular visitors to Portugal, our first choice is always to call Nigel & Val.

The property offers excellent views and with the glass wind-break means that eating out on the balcony enjoying the great views and late sun is an additional bonus. The house is well equipped, kept clean and trouble free and should you require any assistance, Bob is only a phone call away.

The owners are always accommodating and we enjoy returning, having booked for 2017 already!

Like other reviewers – we can’t recommend highly enough.

From the Owner

Situated in the Costa Vicente National Park an area protected from over development since 1995 by the Portuguese Government. There is little evidence of high-rise, high density frenetic tourist development as in other parts of the Algarve. Despite this all the facilities you are likely to need are available nearby. An area of natural beauty, towering cliffs are fringed with golden beaches and old fishing villages. The hinterland remains little changed with small communities dotted in the landscape. Wonderful cliff top and country walks, lazy days on the beach or by the large communal pool, the choice is yours. We will provide local information regarding beaches, recommended restaurants, where to go and what to see prior to your arrival to make this a holiday for you to remember.

Other activities include floodlit tennis courts and tennis academy, fitness centre, scuba diving, snorkeling, horse riding, mountain bike hire, archery, bowling, all can be booked through resort reception. For further information please check the resort website. Lots of walking in the National Park and the coastal paths, as well as surfing on the wild Atlantic beaches within 30 minutes by car.


The nearest beach is at Salema about 5 mins by car. Other local beaches include Burgau, Luz, Boca do Rio, Ingrina, Zavial and Sagres. All are different in character but within 20 mins drive. In addition several spectacular west coast beaches are 20 to 30 minutes away.


The house is approx 90km / 1 hour 15 minutes from Faro airport, predominantly on motorway and transfers are easy to arrange. Comprehensive directions from Faro to our house will be provided in advance. Car hire is highly recommended so that you can explore the surrounding area.


Lagos 20 mins by car, lively market town, lots of shops and restaurants in old cobbled streets, fish market, old harbour and museum rich in history. Burgau and Luz 10 mins, great beaches. Sagres 30 mins to the west is also worth a visit. Water parks, zoo marine and zoo within 30 to 45 mins. Exceptional walking trails for nature lovers within the Costa Vincentina nature reserve.

Further Details:

Budens has a large Ecomarche with all well known provisions available as well as an ATM and a petrol station. Luz has the Baptista supermarket with an ATM and a bank and a doctor's surgery. Water sports are available in the summer. Lagos is the nearest large town with many Hypermarkets, banks, shops and a bustling marina. All the towns have many restaurants which offer a variety of food and prices to cater for all and most have children's menus. Well worth a visit is Cape St. Vincent. Europe's most westerly point offering spectacular views of the cliffs. Also the Monchique mountains are well worth exploring as is the West coast with its secluded beaches.

A 20% deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before your holiday commences. In the event of cancellation both deposits and final payments will be returned if an alternative booking is made. Payments to be made via bank transfer or cheque in sterling. Changeover Day:
Flexible according to other bookings. Arrivals after 4pm and departure by 10am, but can be more flexible if unoccupied on the same day - to be agreed. Preference given to Saturday or Sunday bookings.

QDM 20 has a larger than average garden and balcony. Unlike a number of properties at Quinta do Montinho the garden and terrace enjoy sun all day. Neither the balcony or garden are overlooked. There is a turning circle directly outside the property making the off loading of luggage and shopping simple. At the golf club a 30% reduction in green fees is available to guests. Tennis and Bowls are also available. Burgau sports centre is a five minute drive away as is the beach at Salema. There are 6 beaches within a 15 minute drive, the majority with beach bars. A large well stocked supermarket 2 minutes away will provide all your shopping needs. There are two restaurants in the village, both within walking distance and many others a short drive away.

  • Notes on accommodation: There are also electric wall mounted heaters and fans in the lounge/dining room and both bedrooms. The balcony is high sided and safe for all children. High chairs and cots can be provided at an additional cost. Outside: The house has its own landscaped south facing garden. The communal gardens are beautifully maintained. On the large balcony, which has recently been partially fitted with a reinforced glass windbreak to further enhance enjoyment, there are 2 sun loungers with cushions, 2 flat sun beds for use in the garden and a patio table and 4 chairs. There is a large communal swimming pool and also a children's pool heated from April to October. Sun loungers and parasols are provided. There is ample parking adjacent to the property and in the vicinity of the pool. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Housekeeping is provided with change of fresh towels and bedlinen and cleaning on a weekly basis. Please bring your own beach towels. There is also an iron/ironing board. Other: Adjacent to the lounge is a bathroom with wc and hand basin. The main rooms also feature wall mounted electric radiators and fans.
