About the property

House in Clifden,County Galway, Ireland - Convenient - Near Pubs, Restaurants, Shops And Amenities Of The Town,

Situated on a quiet road just 200 yards from the main square in clifden, this is a great base for exploring connemara. All the shops, restaurants, pubs, art galleries and other amenities of clifden are within easy walking distance. On arrival you will find a welcome basket of goodies waiting for you. We do want to point out that the house is old and therefore a bit quirky (not many straight edges on things!) and might not suit everyone, but it has lots of character and most people seem to love it. There is a formal dining room with love seat, cosy living room with an open fire and bathroom with a freestanding clawfoot bath. The modern country kitchen with built in appliances has French doors to the deck and garden. We preserved as many of the original features as possible to make it comfortable but still full of character.

Important Note on prices: Our prices do not include oil (central heating and hot water) or electricity. This is metered and charged at the end of your stay and usually average between 10-12 euros per day.

Changeover Day: Our changeover day is Saturday but we can be more flexible in off peak weeks. Check-in is at 3pm and check-out is at 10am but we will always try to accommodate your needs if these timings don't suit you.

Cancellation Terms: We take a 25% non-refundable deposit to confirm your booking, with the balance payable 2 calendar months before arrival. If the holiday is in 2 calendar months' time or less then 100% is payable on booking. We ask for a 100 euro refundable security deposit on arrival (cheque or cash) which is returned to you on departure. You can cancel your booking 2 calendar months before your arrival for a 75% refund, 1-2 calendar months before = 50% refund, 2 weeks - 1 month = 25% refund.

Why Olivia Gavin chose Connemara

My husband and I bought and fully refurbished this beautiful house in his home town back in 2003 and we have been renting it out for the last 10 years. Although we don't live in Clifden, we have a lot of family there and the house has been designed to work as a family home for us and our children when we visit, and eventually as a home for us one day. Notes:
Notes on accommodation: We provide free Wifi internet (broadband). We also have a high chair and travel cot for younger visitors, and a good stock of books and games, plus some DVDs to keep everyone entertained. Outside: We do have a barbecue and some outside furniture (table and 4 chairs). Further chairs can be brought out from the kitchen via the french doors. Utility Room: Iron and ironing board, laundry airer, mop and bucket, brooms and dustpan and brush plus all the usual cleaning products. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bedlinen are all included and are changed weekly on a Saturday. Extra services can often be provided on request - feel free to contact us. Other: There is also a formal dining room seating 8 and an office/playroom.

Relaxing holiday

This was our fourth stay in Clifden at Hill House. Great location near pubs, restaurants, and shops of Clifden. For the first time, we encountered some cool, rainy weather that limited our time on the patio, but the kitchen in Hill House was a relaxing place to hang out.

Hill House, Clifden

A character property on the Skye Loop Road- a perfect base for exploring Connemara. It is just a few minutes walk (downhill) to the local town with it's fabulous pubs and places to eat.The house has loads of period charm. It is comfortable and is tastefully decorated.

A lovely family home.

First impressions of Hill House was of a lovely spacious family home. The house had everything one could want for a holiday, a well equipped kitchen, lovely bright bedrooms with comfortable beds, and plenty of space to relax. A nice touch was the welcoming pack of necessities, milk,bread etc.The location so near to the town centre was a bonus. The town itself has a great selection of pubs and restaurants. I would recommend Guy's for dinner, lovely hearty food at a reasonable price with live local music thrown in. Lots of interesting place around the town to visit.Hope in the future to return to this lovely part of Ireland. We were with friends from Australia who like us have taken back lovely memories of our visit. Thank you Hill House and Clifden.
