This large family house perched on the ramparts of the medieval town combines tranquillity with walking access to restaurants, range of shops and bars, public swimming pool and tennis courts. The accommodation comprises 4 bedrooms, sitting room with study area, large dining room with adjacent fully fitted kitchen, laundry room and cellar. The stone walls, wooden beams, wood burner and furniture offer a cosy but airy environment for family celebrations. The thick walls and natural ventilation keep the house cool in the summer. The terraced gardens offer a choice of sun and shade for relaxing and dining. The front garden with fig trees and external kitchen provides a shaded area for midday meals. The rear terrace, overlooking the valley, is a stunning breakfast location. The heated swimming pool also benefits from the views The adjacent decking area is partially shaded. The house is equipped with central heating, satellite TV, high speed wifi internet access throughout house and garden.
I am a retired Director of Education who has taken early retirement to spend the summer months in the sunshine developing wonderful old properties and growing vegetables. My wife joins me as much as she can before she retires in a few years time. My daughter likes to spend time in Bellac when she is resting (an actor).

We bought the property after spending 3 years looking for the ideal location in France to offer us a base for relaxed holidays and family celebrations. We chose a property with character and history, with breathtaking views, very different to our home in the UK. This quiet town location has the necessary amenities and interest for our daughter and yet is a relaxing environment for me and my wife as a contrast to our busy working lives. We have enjoyed developing the house and gardens and hosting many members of the extended family. We have been so taken with the town and easy access from the UK that we have subsequently invested in 2 further neighbouring properties. We now see the opportunity to share the house and supplement my pension in the longer term.
Quiet location but easy access to ammenities. No need to use the car once you have arrived. The town is peaceful and safe. Collecting the breakfast baguettes and croissants has become part of our holiday experience that can be enjoyed by all members of the family, young and old. During the day everyone can find their own special place in the house or garden. The private swimming pool has proved very popular with my mother-in-law! Walking to restaurants in the evening is a joy and the journey home is downhill!!!

Well!, well! - what does one say about the ‘Watchtower’ at Bellac?
There are not sufficient superlatives to describe it: splendid, idyllic, sumptuous, grand, gorgeous, picturesque, comfortable do not do it justice!
The ‘Kaye family’; grandchildren, grown up children and ourselves spent a family holiday there in August 2015 and it proved idea for all ages and all tastes. The amenities of the ‘Watchtower’ were equal to our own abode in many respects with a fine kitchen, computer, videos, C.D, music tapes, a fine assortment of books and virtually everything that one might require except possible a hollow glass walking stick for holding very small red flannel shirts and an appropriately dressed ‘French maid’.
Bellac itself is an ideal location for a holiday: thirty minutes from the airport and a typical small provincial town: it is not ‘over-run’ with tourists and the shops and restaurants are good and reasonably priced.
The owner, who is usually resident in the town, is helpful, informative and courteous.
The residence itself is furnished to a very high standard and scrumptiously clean and we have no hesitation whatsoever in giving it virtually 100% in every respect - real 5 star top grade holiday accommodation
We stayed here for a family holiday a couple of years ago. The house is stunning, and beautifully cool in hot weather. Lots of places to sit on very comfy chairs in the garden, and plenty of toys for the pool. House is beautifully furnished with more than enough crockery, cutlery etc. No true of everywhere we have stayed. The location is stunning, Bellac is a great town with plenty of shops , cafes, and restaurants and is big enough to have a real working life. Fishing in the river 5 minutes walk away resulted in lots of fish being caught and many happy afternoons. Was a great location for either staying put and enjoying the house and town and immediate countryside, or sightseeing further afield. Must admit we mainly stayed put! The owner is very helpful. We are looking forward to going back, it was held to be the best all round holiday by all the family.
