Good location, Quiet with Spectacular views.

We had a great stay. Our three children ages 12 to 17 had a great time in the pool. Pool is overlooked by covered bar area so we could relax or barbecue while keeping an eye on the pool. The owners Brenda and her husband live in the adjacent property were friendly and easy going and helped make the holiday . The spectacular Sierra Nevada mountains and Granada (even Gibralta) are within easy reach for day trips by Car. Walking into town or to the Marina is a steep walk so tended to use car. Definitely recommend this property and location. Bring a torch if you go down to the bar/pool at night as steep steps do'nt have handrails.

Simply Stunning

Our family of 5 including 21,18 and 13 year old "kids" were very comfortably accommodated in this beautiful, secluded oasis..... Located high on punta de la Mona, the view over the marina is fantastic, the villa is clean, very well appointed and comfortable and the gardens and pool are simply stunning.... The place is completely private, no through traffic passing by, and the owners (who live on site in the main villa) are very welcoming, helpful but not at all intrusive.

The town and beaches are within a short drive down the tight twisty road, but it is well surfaced and an easy drive. It IS walkable but it takes about 20 minutes... Walking back in the dark is not advisable, the road has no street lights once you start climbing, but all restaurants were happy to order a taxi for us. Or we just took the car and had a designated driver! Realistically, you need a car for this property.

We had an absolutely fantastic two weeks here; a peaceful and classy base for relaxing or exploring - La harradura is very well positioned for trips to Granada, Nerja, Sierra Nevada, Malaga - and would have no hesitation in recommending this property... It's superb!

Fantastic Villa

We were visiting La Herradura for the first time for a friend's wedding and would definitely go back and stay at the same villa again. The Villa was everything we hoped for and more. It had stunning views across the marina and beach and was very clean, spacious and well layed out inside. The pool and bar area were fantastic and where we spent most of our time. The owners - Brenda and Terry lived next door and whilst we didn't see much of them, whenever we needed anything they were exceptionally kind, helpful and brilliant to chat to about the local area and any general questions. It didn't worry them at all that we barbecued and swam late into the evening, they really made us feel very comfortable and welcome. We did the walk to the beach each day for some brilliant sea food meals and drinks out and whilst it was a good 25 minute walk, it was very easy to find and the walk back up hill helped us to walk off our dinner each night. All 5 of us would definitely recommend this villa to anyone else and I look forward to returning 5/5 (although unfortunately the rating options don't seem to appear on my screen)

Great Place

We took an extended holiday of almost 3 weeks, and wanted somewhere to chill, enjoy the sun but at the same time, have enough space and things around us to entertain our teenage boys, the villa was perfect, beautiful pool and great garden.

The area is very nice, with a large beach area, and a nice upmarket marina, plus some fabulous restaurants, the small beach near to the marina was ideal to relax on, away from the main area but it has a good beach bar and restaurant.

Our stay was made especially good, by the warm and welcoming owners, who could not of been more helpful. A great place in a nice part of Spain.

La Casita, La Herradura

We had a very enjoyable holiday at La Casita. Weather was lovely which always help. The property is well maintained and clean... a lovely big pool and nicely looked after garden. The owners live on site but are not in anyway intrusive. We were concerned, as our 3 boys 17,19,22 joined us and can be bit noisy in the pool...but the owners Brenda & Terry didn't seem to mind. You could walk down to the town...and walk back but it is a bit of a hike. The town had plenty of places to eat. Food shopping (so cheap!) at Almunecar (10 min drive) We visited the marina which was fairly quiet and also the local beaches. We found if you got down to the beach about 10.30 at la Herradura..the first bit ..you could have it to yourselves. The water was surprisingly cold but very refreshing. Clear water with lots of fish. Would like to have explored more but our boys just wanted to veg by the pool! All in all a good holiday experience.

Special interest holidays:

The attractive horseshoe bay of La Herradura is famous for being perhaps the best diving resort in Spain with several well run diving schools located on the seafront. Wonderful walking and nature excursions in the Sierra Nevadas.

Coast/Beach:

La Herradura beach can be reached by walking down hill approx 15 minutes a good taxi service is available from the village.

Lots of other beaches within easy driving distance. Secluded nudist beach 10 minutes drive but on a nature reserve so landrovers to take you down there.

All the beaches are grey sand or stone and have sunbeds to rent with bars providing food and drinks.

Travel:

Malaga airport is the closest. Car hire recommended to visit the surrounding area...plenty to see!

Distances:

1 mile to La Herradura village. 4 miles to Almunecar. 80 miles to Granada and Alhambra Palace, and the ski resort. Alpujarra mountains are approx 40 minutes drive. Sevilla and Cordoba are 2 hrs away. In Nerja there are some amazing caves (15 minutes drive). Walks up in the hills, picking avocados and oranges off the trees as you walk! Paragliding tours.

Further Details:

Everything is available in the village of La Herradura. Some great restaurants and tapas bars and even a couple of small night clubs. One which has live music! For larger supermarkets, best to go to Almunecar or Nerja. People come from Madrid and Granada to holiday here, so there is plenty of atmosphere and Spanish culture.

Booking Notes:
A 25% deposit is payable on booking with the balance due 6 weeks before arrival date. If cancellation occurs less than 4 weeks before scheduled arrival date then 50% of total rental fee will be forfeit. Cancellation less than 2 weeks before will result in full forfeiture unless the villa is relet for the period. A security deposit of 250€ is required. This will be added to the final payment and will be refunded at the end of the holiday, provided no breakages or damages have occurred.

Changeover Day:
Flexible changeover day but ideally Saturday (depending on previous booking). Villa to be vacated by 10am on morning of departure to allow for cleaning. Guests arrive from 4pm.
