wonderful country cottage with modern facilities

  • 5 of 5

we've stayed twice and loved it both times. 6 adults and and 4 young children and we all fit perfectly. homely warm house with spacious rooms. Lots of cottage charm without the rickety elements. bathrooms are very clean and modern.Beds are comfy and you are guaranteed a peaceful nights sleep in Hognaston. The local pub The Red Lion serves delicious food and are very welcoming. This is a perfect retreat. Ashbourne,Bakewell and Wirksworth are all close by and worth a visit. Carsington water is great with the kids. Can't wait to stay again.

We have fallen in love with station cottage. It was the perfect getaway for our 3 families.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights at station cottage with 6 adults and 5 children. The house is immaculate and jam packed with charm.

The children loved playing hide and seek whist the adults cosied up in front of the fire.

There wasn't anything we needed during our stay, the kitchen is well equipped and a few toys to keep the children busy.

Hognasten is a quaint little village with a fabulous local Pub, The Red Lion, who were welcoming and served tasty, much needed, meals as we arrived.

Thank you, I'm sure we'all be back.

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage with some lovely touches on arrival - wine and biscuits.

The local pub is lovely with friendly staff and very nice food.

The walk to the reservoir through the cow fields was lovely and the reservoir itself was a lovely day out with the children, such a nice local attraction that made for a very easy day.

Everything about the cottage is high specification with beautiful features, powerful showers and an extremely well equipped kitchen that made staying there with children easy. The toys that are provided is a lovely touch too.

Family reunion spending their first Xmas together after too many years

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic cottage loads of character in each room perfect location but busy with car parking for all of us as we could not find the parking permit anywhere and could not contact anyone due to no signal !!! All in all was perfect for our 'Christmas day' with our family from Australia and found everything we needed in the kitchen bedrooms etc . Locals very friendly and the food at the red lion was amazing

Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone with a few families who want to all be together

Wonderful Cottage and memorable holiday

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful cottage - it was very spacious inside and easily fit in our family of 10 (inc 4 small children). Welcoming cookies, flowers and card were a very nice touch. All mod cons were available yet the cottage retains its amazing old world charm and interesting nooks and crannies. We cooked every day and the kitchen was easy to work in with every utensil you could possibly need. The linens were of a high standard and the beds big and comfortable. There are 2 TV's so we could have children's programmes and adult programmes on simultaneously. There is a lovely park down the road which the children made good use of. We went out everyday into Derbyshire and enjoyed all our trips: Bakewell, Heights of Abraham (cable car that takes pushchairs), Chatsworth Adventure Playground and Farm (amazing), Carsington Reservoir and a soft play centre called Chucklebutties. We met Jo the Housekeeper a couple of times and she was extremely helpful and full of information about the area. We will definitely be returning. Our 5 year old grandson asked if we could live there forever which is testament to how much we all enjoyed it. Thank you.

Beautiful, spacious cottage with lots of charm

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 3 nights in August. The accommodation is spacious and easily fit the 10 of us.

Best bed was the sofa bed in dining room as it was pitch black and you couldn't hear the church bells :)

Would definitely stay again.
