About the property

Cottage in Hognaston, Nr. Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England - On The Edge Of The Peak District National Park, Walking Distance Of Carsington Reservoir

Station Cottage dates back to 1694 and is situated in the rural village of Hognaston, Derbyshire. This stunning cottage has been recently renovated and refurbished to create a luxurious holiday cottage with a wealth of character and charm. The location of Station Cottage combines the tranquility of Hognaston Village with easy access to the beauty of The Peak District, the popular towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne, the stately homes of Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall and Haddon Hall, the fun of Alton Towers, and it is just a 20 minute walk to Carsington Reservoir. Outside there is a patio with table and chairs to enjoy the peace of the village. And next door but one is The Red Lion Pub where tasty meals and drinks can be enjoyed.

Beautiful cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cosy cottage in a small village offering excellent value for money. The property was furnished to a very high standard. The 4 bedrooms were a good size with very comfy beds. Loved all the original features which have been kept. So much to do within walking distance from the cottage and even more in the surrounding area. We will definitely be returning.

a well placed family size cottage ideal for our winter weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

A well placed family size cottage, ideal for our annual winter weekend getaway. A warm and comfortable base in the center of an attractive Derbyshire village. Well appointed with plenty of 'mod cons' and 30 yds from the pub ! (good food there) ideal.walks from outside the door and 10 minutes from Ashbourne. highly recommended.

wonderful country cottage with modern facilities

  • 5 of 5

we've stayed twice and loved it both times. 6 adults and and 4 young children and we all fit perfectly. homely warm house with spacious rooms. Lots of cottage charm without the rickety elements. bathrooms are very clean and modern.Beds are comfy and you are guaranteed a peaceful nights sleep in Hognaston. The local pub The Red Lion serves delicious food and are very welcoming. This is a perfect retreat. Ashbourne,Bakewell and Wirksworth are all close by and worth a visit. Carsington water is great with the kids. Can't wait to stay again.

We have fallen in love with station cottage. It was the perfect getaway for our 3 families.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights at station cottage with 6 adults and 5 children. The house is immaculate and jam packed with charm.

The children loved playing hide and seek whist the adults cosied up in front of the fire.

There wasn't anything we needed during our stay, the kitchen is well equipped and a few toys to keep the children busy.

Hognasten is a quaint little village with a fabulous local Pub, The Red Lion, who were welcoming and served tasty, much needed, meals as we arrived.

Thank you, I'm sure we'all be back.

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage with some lovely touches on arrival - wine and biscuits.

The local pub is lovely with friendly staff and very nice food.

The walk to the reservoir through the cow fields was lovely and the reservoir itself was a lovely day out with the children, such a nice local attraction that made for a very easy day.

Everything about the cottage is high specification with beautiful features, powerful showers and an extremely well equipped kitchen that made staying there with children easy. The toys that are provided is a lovely touch too.

Family reunion spending their first Xmas together after too many years

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic cottage loads of character in each room perfect location but busy with car parking for all of us as we could not find the parking permit anywhere and could not contact anyone due to no signal !!! All in all was perfect for our 'Christmas day' with our family from Australia and found everything we needed in the kitchen bedrooms etc . Locals very friendly and the food at the red lion was amazing

Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone with a few families who want to all be together
