Ideal for families, located between mountains and only 15 mins drive to the mediterranean coast, it's a great base to explore this Catalan historical area and enjoy the region's varied culture and cuisine. Visit the many historical medieval hilltop towns, cathar castles, vineyards, beach resorts, harbour towns, traditional villages, nearby mountains, forests, caves and canyons. Sightseeing all within easy reach of the village for enjoyable day trips. Plenty of family activities such as horse riding, go karting, Aqualand water park, high wire forest adventure park, canyoning, farms, safari park, nature reserve etc. Sept, Oct perfect months for sightseeing when the summer crowds have gone.

Why Jo Staples chose Alberes

I have visited 'Les Alberes' area many times as I have family living there and yet I'm still exploring the area and discovering new places each time I visit. Belle Vue is in a quiet traditional village surrounded by vineyards and the mountains which is great because it's peaceful and relaxing and yet close to the beaches and amenities of the Mediterranean coast. You can easily enjoy the mountain villages, historic medieval cities and countryside away from the crowds and yet you are close to the coast when you want to be at the beach.

What makes this bungalow unique

I love the laid back life style of of the mediterranean - sea swimming, late lunches, eating at one of the many restuarants in the balmy evenings and browsing the shops open till late. And the contrast to head inland often on my bike, to enjoy the countryside and vineyards invariably in search of a patisserie or cafe to enjoy a cafe au lait! It's only 30 mins drive from Perpignan airport or 1hr drive from Girona (Spain) so it's very convenient.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday and the villa was super and perfect for our needs. We especially loved the peace and the fabulous views. It really is in a fabulous location with so much to see and do without having to travel very far. We hope to visit again as both the villa and area really impressed us and have been by far the best on our 3 holidays in Languedoc Roussillon area.

Best equipped villa we've ever stayed at. Very well placed for mountain and coast . Highlights for family with 2 young daughters were 'la fete des cerises' (festival of cherries) in Ceret, Villefranche de Conflent (tour of ramparts and good price tapas), Les Orgues d'Ille, weekend bands at Collioure and 'petite train touristique'. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath & beach towels, teatowels and bed linen provided. Extra linen charge applies when max. 6 guests occupancy. Coast/Beach:

Miles of sandy beach resorts and harbour towns are only 10km, 15 mins drive or take a more leisurely route to the beach and enjoy a bike ride on the cycle path through the vineyards. Spread along the coast there are many holiday resorts with a variety of watersports, restaurants, creperies and shops. Argeles sur Mer the nearest beach is 7km long with a palm tree promenade, also has a marina. Other local popular beaches are St. Cyprien, Canet plage, all with plenty of family activities.

Travel:

Nearest airports are Perpignan 20km and Girona (Spain) 90km which is very convenient as only 1 hr drive. Also nearby are Beziers, Carcassonne, Toulouse and Barcelona (Spain). Car essential.

Distances:

Mediterranean coast stretches for miles with many lively beach resorts and also quieter coves and traditional villages. Historical cities, castles and caves all nearby to enjoy a variety of sightseeing day trips out. The Cote Vermeille coast stretches into Spain just 20km away where you can enjoy the rugged Costa Brava.

Further Details:

Village centre is 10-15 mins walk with grocery shop, cafe, restaurants, pharmacy, weekly market etc. Carrefour supermarket and petrol station are 5 mins drive and there is a wide variety of shops and restaurants in the coastal resorts and nearby towns. Plenty of family fun nearby at Aqualand Waterpark, Crazy Golf, ArgelesAventure & Parc Aquatique (high wire forest adventure and canyoning park). Watersports available at all the beach resorts. La Route des Vins is close to the village and winds through local vineyards where you can sample Roussillon and Banyuls wines. Carcassonne is the largest medieval walled citadel in Europe and a UNESCO world heritage site and makes for a memorable day out. Ceret is a nearby pretty hillside town, known for its annual cherry festival and Art Musuem inspired by Dali and Picasso. Quaint Collioure with its 15th century fortress and Chateaux Royal was once a small fishing village which artists believed 'to have the best light for painters'. Its cobbled lanes, art galleries and boutique shops still attract artists and tourists today all enjoying the beachfront restaurants and harbour boat trips.

Villefrance-de-Conflent famous for its splendid 11th century walled town and fortress. From here you can ride the wooden train Le Petit Train Jaune up through the Tet valley, crossing high bridges across the fantastic mountain scenery at the foot of Mt. Canigou and beyond to Bolquere, the highest railway station in France.
