About the Owner

We live in the North East of England and have three children who have now grown up and left home. We also have 4 grandchildren. We have 2 dogs Ellie and Izzy who both love our house in France because they can safely run round the secure garden and they love early morning walks on the beach. We spend all our holidays in France where we really appreciate the peace and quiet and have really fallen in love with the area around our house because there is so much to see and do.

Hi Steve and Rita, We have had a brilliant holiday. Your gite is just right and Cozes is a lovely little town right in the middle of some of our favourite places in France. Our granddaughter Eden insisted on saying bonjour to your neighbours chickens every morning and au revoir to them when we left. I will be sure to put a nice comment on your Facebook page. Jean July13

We had a lovely time, all our meals outside, never sat down at the dining table, never used the oven or hob. BBQ every night and then sat out until it started to get dark. Wonderful! The photos on the web do not do your house justice. It’s in a lovely spot. JR July13

Hi Steve & Rita, We had a good holiday. The house was comfortable and the large garden was great. The weather was sunny everyday bar one and Bramble (Springer ) loved the beach at St. George de Didonne. FB Sep14

Thank you we had a really lovely stay, just suffering post holiday blues now! Katie T Aug14

We had a great holiday thanks. The kids particularly enjoyed the garden toys. We left some buckets and spades to add to your store. Overall I thought that the house and the information were great. I will put a review to that effect on the website. Coralie Aug14

Hi Rita & Steve

Lovely French Villa

  • 4 of 5

The instructions on how to find this lovely villa were perfect and we recognised it immediately from the pictures. Steve and Rita have worked hard to create a very welcoming, clean and tidy holiday home. Great attention to detail had been taken by them leaving us a very generous welcome pack, including wine, tea, coffee just to mention the drinks in the pack! The property is well appointed with lots of extras, especially in the kitchen, which you don't usually find in holiday homes. Everything was as it said in the advert and we immediately felt at home. Cozes is an ideal location for visiting many towns, chateaux and delightful beaches and seaside resorts, many of which are included in France's loveliest villages.

Charming, quiet and rustic, well equipped and conveniently located villa.

  • 4 of 5

Charming, quiet and rustic, well equipped and conveniently located villa.

We stayed at the villa for 2 weeks in early September 2016 when the weather was fantastic. The sheltered pergola area, enabled us to eat outside every day.

It was nice to be able to watch the English news (via the Sky box) and the wifi was both fast and reliable.

The house is within a day's drive of Calais and the village provides most local needs. It includes a large supermarket and petrol station. There is also a market and chemist.

Excellent restaurants can be found a short drive away, and there is a good Vietnamese restaurant in the village itself (which is a 15 minute walk away) but there is ample parking too.

We discovered a lovely little beach outside Meschers - Suzac Plage and had a delightful day at Ile d'Oléron as well as the archaeological site at Fa. The local winery en route to Cozes village is also worth a visit.

This rustic villa, amongst the vines, pines and beaches twixt the sea and Bordeaux, is a perfect spot for peace and quiet, allowing for days to be spent in the garden reading or playing games (plenty of garden games provided) or venturing forth depending how energetic you are!

Steve & Rita were extremely helpful in answering any questions we had both before and during our stay.

In short, we can thoroughly recommend this villa for both families or couples if you want to be 'cozy' in Cozes

A lovely spacious house, quiet neighbours, good nearby amenities. Relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

This house has everything that you could need for a comfortable and quiet stay in the Cozes and Saint Georges de Didonne region. With plenty of private parking at the front and a vast garden at the back. Outdoor seating including reclining chairs and a multitude of children's games and some beach accessories are provided in outdoor storage units. We had breakfast outside every morning at the table (that can seat 6) and out the front by the BBQ in the evening. The owners (very nice) kindly provided some provisions upon our arrival including milk, coffee, Jam and a nice bottle of wine in the fridge.

The house is nicely laid out and very clean. There are three bedrooms, two of which have double beds and the other has two singles; plenty of storage in each. The lounge has ample seating and a large TV with DVD player and Satellite TV, although we spent the evenings outside drinking wine! The house has WIFI which was a blessing since my mobile data was really slow. Being a French house all the windows have outside shutters which is nice because it keeps the house cool and keeps the morning sun out as well. The kitchen has everything you can think of and certainly everything that you have at home. There is a bathroom with toilet and a separate shower room with toilet. If you need to wash anything there is also a washing machine and, a bonus for me, a dishwasher!

The neighbours were very quiet; we didn't hear anything or get woken up. It has made us determined to stay in private accommodation in the future since it is far more relaxing that any camp site.

Cozes is situated just 15 to 20 minutes away from Saint De Georges de Didonne, arguably one of the best beaches in the area. They do charge for parking along the front but the side streets have ample parking without any charges. The evening market was nice to visit. Another close by place to see is Talmont Sur Mer, with the church that is lit up on several days during the week in the summer. We also visited La Rochelle, the Green Venice Way and a number of other places, all easily accessible from Cozes.

You'll find that you are a short drive away from the local Super-U which is a good size and includes a petrol station, with reasonably priced petrol/diesel. There is a large doctors surgery and I recall seeing Vets too.

All in all a very nice place to stay and certainly made our holiday relaxing.

Well appointed, close to beaches (Meschers) & shops (Cozes), relaxing & peaceful, recommended.

  • 5 of 5

The property was clean on arrival with some essentials waiting for us. The house has a very well equipped kitchen and lovely seating areas to the front & rear, we ate at the front table all the time and never had to eat inside for the duration of our stay. The bedrooms are comfortable with wardrobes and drawers in all rooms and ceiling fans to stay cool, if needed. Plenty of very hot water and both showers (1 over bath) work well. Plenty of comfortable seating in the lounge with a large TV & DVD player (didn't watch any TV). Fast WiFi internet was well used by all and much appreciated after staying in places with a slow or non-existent connection.

The back garden is very large and a great area for children to play - the swings & trampoline got plenty of use... If you like fresh figs there are 2 trees bursting with figs, we didn't time our stay right as they weren't yet ripe!

We visited a few different beaches before we discovered 'Plage des Nonnes' which was about 20 mins away and had easy parking at top of hill and a lovely sandy beach.

We also visited 'Le Cottage' restaurant in nearby Arces and had a fantastic meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will probably return in the future.

Great family property

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely property with a fantastic garden and outside games provided. Plenty of space with a comfy living area. The outside eating areas were ideal and the kitchen is well-equipped. The beaches were not quite as close as expected but worth driving to.

Our second visit

  • 3 of 5

This was our second stay at this property and will certainly be back again.

That really says it all!

The property is a three bedroom , two bathroom bungalow, comfortably furnished with a large private garden to the rear. Ideal for children or if you like sun bathing. Great BBQ.

The owners Steve and Rita are very friendly and helpful,( even if you ring them early in the morning when the boiler runs out of gas and you have had problems changing the cylinders over ). The instructions were there, I just hadn't read them!!

It's situated in a very quiet lane with little traffic and is within easy walking distance to Cozes. Here you will find a couple of bars, restaurants and a small supermarket.

If you like beaches you are spoilt for choice, Meschers, St Georges, Royan and St Palais-sur-Mere are all nearby, but or favourites are all above St Palais , Lede being our all time favourite.

Lots of places to visit, Talmont, St Georges, Royan, further afield Rochefort, Brouage and Blaye are all well worth the trip. For children a very popular Zoo at

La Palmyre.

Finally must mention the weather, on our two visits in July we have had clear blue sky's, up to 32 degrees and a comfortable breeze. Perfect.

From the Owner

Most of our holidays over the years have been spent in France but we love the Charente Maritime because the weather and climate are so good and because there is something for everyone, there are fantastic beaches and busy marinas with bars and restaurants and many beautiful historic towns to visit with markets, vineyards and chateaux. But if you want to get away from it all there are secluded coves, pine forests and lakes to visit. The famous zoo at La Palmyre is a fantastic day out especially for children. If you want to explore further afield St Palais sur Mer, the Cote Savage with its historic lighthouses and La Rochelle and the islands of Re and Oleron are all within easy driving distance. Also the historic cities of Cognac, Saintes and Bordeaux are close by.
