About the Owner

Robert and I recently moved from the UK to make the Loire Valley our permanent home. We now own and run Loire Luxury Holiday Cottages and have recently completed the restoration of our second holiday house.

Our next project is already underway and will open in 2016.

We maintain and look after the cottages ourselves -that way we can give you our personal assurance that they are furnished and kept to the very highest standards. We live only 30 minutes away and are on hand if you need anything extra during your stay.

We had a wonderful holiday at Abbeye Cottage which is equipped to a very high standard, and we felt very at home. Lucy was very helpful in the run up to our holiday, providing lots of local information and even arranged an appointment at the local vet for our dogs to have their passports sorted for our return to England. Lucy left us a lovely welcome pack which included home made scones, bread, jam etc, together with a bottle of fizz chilling in the fridge! She even left biscuits for the dogs and had a bowl of water waiting for them. The cottage and garden are beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub at night. The village is very quaint and there's a good selection of places to eat and drink, and is also ideally located for visiting the surrounding area. We will definitely return, but next time it will be for longer than a week!

a wonderful week

  • 5 of 5

my partner and I spent a wonderful week in this charming and comfortable property. It's an ideal place for relaxing and for exploring this gorgeous part of France. Fontevraud is a lovely village and makes a very good base for this area. We were very well looked after by Lucy and Robert and would definitely go back.

Hidden Treasure

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I returned to this delightful hidden cottage in one of the most interesting villages in the Loire. Not only is the cottage discretely set back from the main square but is still within 50 metres of everything. The wonderful Abbey across the road contains the tombs of Richard the Lion Heart and Eleanor of Aquitaine. The house is exactly described with a delightful walled garden and hot tub. Lucy & Robert are wonderful hosts and were always on the end of the phone to help with any recommendations. We can't recommend it highly enough.

A Little Gem

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage in the centre of Fontevraud yet very peaceful. Lucy and Robert were wonderful hosts, their recommendations for restaurants and places to visit were really helpful and the chilled wine and essentials were very much appreciated after a long drive.

We will be returning.

Beautiful cottage in the heart of the Loire

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is beautifully decorated and kept in a pristine condition, with everything you need. It is a tranquil oasis and very private, yet only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Fontenvraud with some great restaurants. We absolutely loved it. Lucy and Robert were so helpful, providing us with great recommendations and even arranged a hot air balloon ride for us and Lucy's welcome gifts of homemade bread and scones were delicious We will be booking to revisit and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with Fontevraud during a holiday in 2007 and decided there and then it was the place for us! The Loire Valley has beautiful countryside, a rich river life, amazing chateaux and of course fantastic food and wines. There really is something for everyone.

There are miles and miles of cycle paths and routes, from gentle, flat riverside paths to more adventurous hill and forest tracks. There are even guides for cycle tours of the local vineyards.
