Our family of 5 adults plus family dog recently returned from an amazing week in Cnoc Gorm, Sallachy in Scotland. The cottage description did not disappoint a real home-from-home and more. The cottage was exceptionally clean, cosy, well decorated and very well furnished. The kitchen was a dream, well equipped and well laid out. All rooms were very comfortable and made the holiday very easy to enjoy with such comforts as the log burner (although the weather was kind and we only enjoyed the log burner on a few chilly evenings), all bedrooms were great with plenty of bedding and were clean and airy with fantastic views. All emails with the owner were replied to quickly and directions were supplied and easy to follow. The location of Cnoc Gorm really made the holiday extra special, waking up to the wonderful mountain and loch views with a sprinkling of clear starry nights, shooting stars, low mist and clouds at sunrise and amazing red skies at sunset. Plus deer roaming in the field behind the cottage, garden birds visiting the garden daily and the most amazing views to enjoy whilst eating a cooked 'slice' and black pudding breakfast on a sunny morning at the picnic bench in the garden. Sallachy is close to Dornie for a visit to Eileen Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh where we enjoyed deep fried Mars Bars; yet it still has the feeling of being remote with water falls, mountains, seals in the Loch and the feeling of remote. Plockton was another good day out with fish and chips in the harbour and how long have you got to hear about our visits to the amazing Isle of Skye? The most amazing mountain ranges, white-tailed sea eagles and porpoise. Only the elusive otter escaped us and we made up for this with a visit to the Brightwater Centre in Kyleakin on Skye. This more than made up for the lack of otters when we spotted and enjoyed a large number of Lion mane jelly fish in the small harbour there. We also enjoyed a picnic lunch on the shore at Kyleakin with the impressive Isle of Skye road bridge in the background and enjoyed dipping our toes in the loch to retrieve scallop shells. Can highly recommend the Old Inn at Carbost on the Isle of Skye for a delicious family pub meal on the shores of Loch Harport, good food and a great location. The Fairie Pools are a must for any keen photographer who will be spoilt for choice with tumbling water, crystal clear pools and water falls. The whole family age 19 - 54 had an amazing time and we all plan to return.
