About the Owner

I have been married to my wife Jackie for over 40 years, an "almost" retired IT Consultant.

Although we travelled around most of the world for business reasons, we had our holidays either in the United States or in north Devon. So it's perhaps not surprising that we have bought properties in the areas of the world we love the most.

If you decide you would like to stay in one of our properties, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Fabulous property. Relaxing stay.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely apartment in Lynton. It was clean and very comfortable. The standard of everything was excellent and we really appreciated the welcome basket on our arrival. The view over the sea is stunning and the location couldn't be better. Shops and supermarkets are minutes walk away and after a long walk it was great to return to a warm, cosy place. We have stayed in the area before and there is lots to see and do. It was good to walk to Hunter's Inn and Watersmeet and there many other possibilities to walk locally and farther afield. We had a good day at Arlington court - friendly helpful guides. We visited Dunster Castle, which offered a lot to see and the village is very attractive with good tea rooms and shops. Lynton has several great restaurants. We liked the Vanilla Pod and the Oak room. We would also recommend the Rockford Inn - excellent food and a range of good beers. The flat's kitchen was nice to prepare a meal in, too - lovely quality pans etc. We hope to return.

A very smart, comfortable modern apartment with spectactular views.

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed in many holiday homes in the Lynton and Lynmouth area and Little Basreen is definitely the best so far. A spacious, comfortable and well equipped apartment with great views of the coastline and the sea. The only ( very minor ) problems were the shortage of bedside lamps for reading and the markings for the cooker which were worn away. Highly recommended !

Location

From the Owner

We were looking for a place to relax in the UK and the magnificence of the walks and scenery in the Exmoor parks met our requirements and more. But we also wanted to buy a holiday home where our Children and Grandchildren could enjoy and have fun. Horse riding is our granddaughter Caitlin's great passion and the riding over Exmoor cannot be beaten. Surfing is our grandson Oli's great passion, I am told by the "experts" that the best surfing is in Lynmouth, although you do need to be an experienced surfer. The whole family absolutely loves Little Basreen.

A truly great holiday to enjoy the varied landscape Exmore national park has to offer; where deer and ponies roam wild, the tranquility of wooded valleys with their flowing rivers and the beauty of rocky coastlines and heather moor lands. The most amazing walks are literally on your doorstep with some of the finest scenery Britain has to offer.

Coast/Beach:

The north devon coast is truly magnificent, making for one of Devon and the South West’s prettiest picture postcard resorts, the twin villages of Lynton & Lynmouth in North Devon are situated on the dramatic and rugged Heritage Coast of Exmoor National Park. Including hide away beaches and rock pools.

Lynton is situated on the north coast of Devon in Exmoor National Park on the A39 between Minehead and Barnstaple. Public transport is provided by bus services from Minehead and Barnstaple, but a car is highly recommended.

Further Details:

Lynton & Lynmouth were “discovered” in the first decade of the 19th century when the Napoleonic Wars closed the Continent to travellers. Unable to make their Grand Tours of Europe due to the conflict visitors to Lynton & Lynmouth and the Lyn Valley area christened it “Little Switzerland” as it was reminiscent and evocative of their sojourns through the Alps en route to Italy. It’s spectacular beauty inspired famous literary figures such as Wordsworth, Coleridge Blackmore and Shelley.
