Kathy W (2015) said : We had an excellent week at the Ancien Resto with our extended family. The house was perfect for our needs. Everything we needed was there, kitchen equipment, barbecue, games, pool etc. The location was peaceful in a small village but easily accessible, with good shopping a short 15 minutes' drive away. The housekeeper, who lives locally, was very helpful and attentive. All in all, a good place to relax for the young and not so young!

Amandine (2015) said :Very good stay in AncienResto! We enjoyed the house which is perfectly well equipped for 12 people! Between games, billiards, table football, pool, meals around the barbecue, the time flew by .The surrounding villages are very nice for walks. Nice discovery.

Jerome (2016) said : Very welcoming and beautiful home. I recommend it !!

Xavier (2016) said : We had most enjoyable stag weekend. The house is located in a small, very quiet and pleasant village. We really enjoyed the peace of the place and enjoyed all the fun of the house: billiards, pool, bowling, darts. Donna the housekeeper was very helpful and accommodating especially for arrival and departure. A big thank you to her. We will return with great pleasure because it's only 2h30 from Paris, so we can come down to recharge.

About the Owner

A retired businessman, I bought Ancien Resto in 2004 and furnished it so my 5 adult children could use it for fun with their friends.

Every year I make more changes to improve the house.

In 2014 we re-decorated one of the bedrooms and built a swing/slide (not just for my grandchildren!)

In 2015 we decorated another of the bedrooms and changed the swimming pool to salt-water, which is a lot more pleasant

In 2016 we re-tiled the two upstairs shower-rooms and re-lined the swimming pool and put a rigid cover on it (a) for increased security nd (b) to keep it warmer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a delightful time in Burgogne at Ancien Resto and were very pleased with the arrangements."

“The house was fantastic and everyone had a great time. We really found the house excellent, everything you could think of, in fact kept finding more gadgets in the kitchen as the fortnight proceeded. The pool was excellent and we all recharged our batteries and found the location an excellent base to explore the area. The girls enjoyed trying out the bikes and the two young boys enjoyed watching the tractors trundle by with trailers full of hay. We will not be returning short term as there are so many places in the world to visit yet, however I have recommended the house to everyone we know and in the future we would not hesitate to come back…. Many Thanks.”

"Thanks a lot for your house rental. We have spent a wonderful week-end"

A family friendly house with plenty to offer!

  • 5 of 5

Everyone in our group (six adults, five kids aged between 1 and 5) had a great time at Ancien Resto. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house had plenty of space for everyone. The terrace was perfect for eating in the evenings, the bedrooms were spacious and the bathrooms plentiful! The slide/swing set and other games were a welcome addition, and the pool area was delightful!

Great Week-end in Burgundy

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 3 days in the house of Bruce. Unfortunatly, we had some very bad weather, so we did not use the swimming pool a lot, but all the games in the house (pool, ping pong...) were very nice. Also, the village is very quiet and the house is quite big, so it does fit quiet weel to a big group.

A quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

A lovely quiet location in a small village but with easy access to the sights of Dijon nad Beaune plus The Morvan where the more active can enjoy watersports, cycling and more.

All amenities provided and the local wine can be sampled in the evening sitting on the terrace over looking the sun trap pool area.

Un super gîte pour un we entre amis

  • 4 of 5

Location

From the Owner

I grew up in the country and wanted a place of quiet retreat (but with facilities) for my family, friends, and guests. It is well-located being half-way between the English Channel and the Mediterranean, close to the main A6 Autoroute, and less than 3 hours from the Alps, Paris and Lyon. Dijon is less than an hour away and is well-served by TGV,

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Dijon at 60 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Mont-St-Jean at 5 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Calais at 550 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Ch de Chailly, Chailly-sur-armancon at 10 Kilometres Nearest Train : Dijon at 58 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Pouilly en Auxois (A6) at 15 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Mont-St-Jean at 5 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Alps at 200 Kilometres Nearest Beach : On Lac du Panthier at 20 Kilometres Car: recommended

Travel:

Midway between Calais and Nice, Marcilly is 16 km from the A6 Motorway, a couple of hours south of Paris and north of Lyon. The TGV goes to Dijon.

It's useful to have a car for shopping and sight-seeing.

Distances:

The main places to shop are Pouilly en Auxois and Seaulieu which are both about 10 miles away. There is a smaller shop in Thoisy, a daily visit from the baker in his van and other mobile shops also come to the village.
