Apartment in West Bay, near Bridport, Dorset - Perfect Location for a Wonderful Holiday or Long Weekend Retreat

Perfect location: A tastefully furnished & well-equipped (free unlimited wifi) ground floor apartment in a converted prestigious Grade II Victorian building (see main image) overlooking West Bay harbour in Lyme Bay. West Bay is a small fishing harbour village with two beaches and is a major gateway to the famous Jurassic Coast world heritage site. Take the eastward coastal cliff path to Chesil Beach & Portland, or the west coast path towards Lyme Regis, ideal for fossil hunting. West Bay has also become famous as the film set for the tv series 'Broadchurch'. From the apartment, it's just a minute’s stroll is the fine shingle beach, pubs, shops & amenities and several excellent restaurants. There’s crab fishing, river boating, angling trips, sailing, coastal and country walks, fossil hunting, many local events (like raft racing). 1.5 miles inland is the vibrant market town of Bridport with its arts centre & lots of excellent restaurants & cafes. Weymouth with sailing beaches is about a half hour drive. WE WILL CONSIDER BOOKINGS OF LESS THAN 7 NIGHTS DURING OFF-PEAK SEASON, SO PLEASE SEND AN ENQUIRY. There's free residents' parking adjacent to the lawn in front of Pier Terrace, on a first come first served basis for residents. West Bay also has several car parks which should have space, so if on the odd occasion you don't immediately get a free space where the residents' parking is, there's always other car parking space nearby. The public car park is free from 6pm - 8am and very cheap at other times.

About Graham Stone

We love this beautiful part of England and we fell in love with the Bridport area because of the stunning scenery and cliff walks along the wonderful Jurassic heritage coast. Dorset is one of Britain's beautiful counties!

We ourselves live in Surrey, so we are not on location at the property. We have a local lady lives nearby who cleans and is on hand locally if needed.

Notes on accommodation: Baby accepted if bringing your own travel cot. Not suitable for toddlers. The apartment is on the ground floor - 2 steps up at entry level into communal Hall; 5 steps down to front door. 6 steps down to bathroom. No Smoking. No pets. Outside: There is free residents' parking all along the wall by the lawn in front of Pier Terrace which is on a first come first served basis for residents. West Bay also has several car parks which should have space, so if on the odd occasion you don't immediately get a free space where the residents' parking is, there's always other car parking space nearby. The public car park is free from 6pm - 8am. Private lawn area for residents' use. Towels / Linen / Bedlinen provided. One set of towels per person provided – if you need more please bring extra of your own. Please bring your own beach towels.

Great place to stay

Stayed here for a week in August 2017. The apartment is lovely and spotlessly clean. The owners provided lots of information for days out and places of interest, which we found very helpful. The kitchen/lounge was well equipped and had everything we needed and more. The bedroom was a good size with enough wardrobe space, drawers and storage etc. The bathroom is large and has a powerful shower. There is free parking by the wall facing the property. We only had a problem parking on one day, which was the bank holiday, but as the whole area was packed that day it was not an issue. There are lots of lovely bakeries, a couple of pubs, tea rooms and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk which was great. You really are right in the middle of everything and could not be closer to the beach and pier. We like fishing and caught loads of fish, some of which we cooked in the apartment. There is also a good tackle shop a few minutes walk away. All in all a very good holiday and we will certainly be back.

A home from home.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst we were playing at some folk clubs in the area. The flat was warm and cosy, and spotlessly clean. We love West Bay and enjoyed the walks during the day.

A Great Place to Stay

We have stayed in several places and this really was fantastic. The position is superb. It is very easy to find even if you do not know West Bay. The property was very clean and well maintained. The situation makes it easy to get around without using the car. there are several excellent eating places nearby. It is also near a bus stop. Food shopping is easy at Bridport as Morrisons is 10 minutes by car. We will definitely use this property again and would recommend it. We think it is not a suitable place for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. It is ground floor but several steps need to be taken down to the front door and the bathroom is down some stairs. Everything we needed was there. the only problem we found was that every cupboard was too high up. There was no small step stool which made it difficult. we used a chair and brought everything we needed down to or level for the week ! Next time we use this property we will bring a step stool from home! We had a great time and found everything we needed.

A lovely, quirky apartment in a picturesque setting

My husband & I have just returned from a long weekend & this apartment was perfect for us...its situated overlooking West Bay harbour, with all its amenities including some lovely eateries.

It has everything you need & is very comfortable.. a three minute stroll to the gorgeous beach & has a lovely view from the lounge window. There is plenty of information of the surrounding areas provided & a very interesting group of shops opposite the apartment which we were surprised was still open in February...well worth a browse!

The bedroom is a good size & includes plenty of storage space, the lounge/kitchen is also a good size & it was nice to have the choice of a bath or shower.

The parking is very close & we had no trouble getting a space. We tried the three main pubs & the food was fabulous in all, including the Station Kitchen which is a must!

We were lucky enough to have three beautifully sunny days so visited/walked plenty in that time & took some amazing photographs...they look like we visited the Med! Can thoroughly recommend Lulworth cove, Durdle Door, Golden Cap has the most fantastic views & Lyme Regis with plenty of shops.

The apartment was lovely & warm to come back to each evening so therefore very handy to stroll to the pub.

We have not been to Dorset before & highly recommend this apartment & area...we hope to return one day soon!

wonderful relaxing weekend in west bay

apartment was in an idyllic location. made good use of the local walks to see all warts bay and surrounding areas had to offer. would love to go back for a longer period of time, and when the weather is warmer.

WE had a lovely long weekend in Pier Terrace, West Bay.

The apartment was comfortable , well appointed and ideal for exploring the Jurassic coast. The owners could not have been more helpful. The sunrise from the lounge in the morning was stunning. Highly recommended.

Nearest airport: Exeter 1 hour drive. Bournemouth or Bristol 1.5 hr drive. Southampton 2 hrs drive. Regular bus services from West Bay into Bridport. Main line rail stations are at Crewkerne and Dorchester, both of which are under ½ hours' drive time.
