The main house is set around a charming patio with fountain & orange trees & has a large terrace giving unrivalled views of the Sierra Nevada. Upstairs is the master bedroom, en suite with huge bathroom & private terrace. There is a large family room with a double & 2 singles & another double bedroom both with access to the charming patio & a single room on this floor sharing a full bathroom, a WC & cloakroom. These rooms all lead off the beautiful Moorish living room with large dining area & fully equipped open plan kitchen and all rooms making the most of the extraordinary views. Downstairs there is another family suite designed like a hobbit house with a double bedroom, a large twin room/sitting room & a smaller single room with a full bathroom in this wing. There is another single room with WC & access to the state of the art recording studio with large performance space, sound booths, control room & own kitchen. Separate artists'/yoga studio & 6 person sauna.

About the property


Stunning country property in privileged position with unrivalled views of the Sierra Nevada in the Lecrin Valley. Sleeping up to 20 people, it is ideal for large families, corporate holidays, yoga/meditation retreats, art workshops etc. The many rooms will adapt to your individual requirements & there is wifi internet access. The unique modern Moorish architecture is inspired by the Alhambra, & we are only 30 minutes drive to Granada & its ski slopes & close to the unspoilt beaches of the Costa Tropical. Secluded with small private pool 5m x 3m , set in 40,000 m2 of beautiful land & just outside the village and surrounded by National Park forests. There is a separate artists'/yoga studio & 6 person sauna. The property also houses state-of-the-art fully equipped music studio with large performance space & 4 sound booths which is also available for hire separately. The main house has an open fire, underfloor heating & radiators in all rooms. The guest cottage has a wood-burning stove.

Booking Notes:
Prices for use of both houses for up to 10 people. We charge a further £60 per person per week or less in low season & 80 pounds per person per week in mid & high season. We ask for 25% deposit on booking, balance 6 weeks before arrival. £250 refundable cash security deposit on arrival. House cleaned before arrival then weekly for stays over 10 days. Extra cleaning & laundry can be arranged. Weekend & studio prices on request. Central heating 250 pounds supplement per week.(Rates for 2014)

Changeover Day:
Our changeover day is usually Saturday but we can be flexible. We ask for the property to be vacated at 11 am on your departure day to allow our cleaners to come in. Some holiday weekends can be booked from Friday afternoon.

Notes on prices:
Prices given are for up to 10 people in 2014 using the whole property excluding recording & art studios. We charge £60 per extra person per week in low season, £80 per extra person per week in mid & high season up to a max of 20 people. Please request prices for weekend bookings (min 3 nights) & for hire of recording studios & art facilities.
We occasionally rent the cottage out separately but normally do not to retain the privacy of our other guests.

The property is close to National Park Forests, just outside the mountain village of Albuñuelas with many beautiful walks and cycling routes (the G7 trail is close to the house) and there is horse riding available locally. The property is equipped with sunbeds and outdoor furniture. 6 person sauna.

A beautiful house in an amazing location

We had a wonderful holiday. The house is even nicer than it looks in the photographs, with amazing views from every room and absolutely loads of space and lots of lovely hidden corners. It's totally private and quiet but only a short drive from the pretty little towns in the valley where you can do your shopping or have lunch. It's really well maintained and the management team are incredibly helpful and friendly. We've already booked for next year!

El Mirador is a magical, wonderful place and experience. We stayed here with two other families, for a total of 12 adults and kids.

The caretaker, Claire, was responsive from the very beginning helping us in any way that she could. She set up cooking and cleaning services and was always available to help us out.

The house itself is spectacular to behold. The view and architecture are totally unique and wonderful. The nice thing about the house is that it's elegant, yet completely utilitarian. The kids could run through the place wet and dirty and we weren't worried about "messing things up". Everyone in our party felt immediately connected to the place. We all had plenty of elbow room and we even noted that we could have had another whole family there and been perfectly fine.

The kids enjoyed the plunge pool immensely. The only downside is that the closest town isn't really walkable, however there are plenty of things to do within a short driving distance. Granada is only 30 minutes or less away and so is the coast. There are lots of hikes to do and once you get there, it's hard to get motivated to go anywhere.

We all found that being there was completely restorative and relaxing. We LOVED it!

Cold and dirty in February

The pictures look stunning and the villa has such great potential, but unfortunately a few things let it down. We rented the villa in February and therefore paid the supplement for central heating. We knew we would need it, especially as we had a baby and someone in a wheelchair. What we didn't realise is that the agent controls the hours that the heating is on - and accidentally hits the off switch so on the first night everyone was FREEZING, no one sleeps. The agent then says if we want the heating on more than a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening we will have to pay extra. At this point after a sleepless cold night, we just want the heating on and say 'no problem, whatever the cost'. At the end of the week this is taken advantage of and we are hit with an additional bill that was nearly the same as the original heating supplement. The agent says that it is because the heating system is insufficient - surely this isn't our problem? Another thing to mention is the dirt. Every piece of kitchen equipment, glass, fork etc we picked up was dirty, the floors were dirty. When we mentioned this to the agent her response was 'I try to keep on top of it, but it is a large property'. I don't think that is a good enough excuse. When we arrived the agent showed us around the villa and also said that she had set the cottage up in case we wanted to use that as well. We were delighted she did, as two of the bedrooms in the villa were either a storage room with old mattress, broken tv etc in or a room with no curtains. The cottage however was damp and dirty with lizard droppings. The TV didn't work - apparently there had been a group of boys in the week before that must have played with it! As a note of caution if staying here make sure you get fully comp on any hire car you use as the 'road' down to the villa is a bumpy dirt track where your suspension, wheels and paint work will get damaged. On a positive note the surroundings are beautiful and in the summer I'm sure it is a lot nice and less damp. If you do stay here I hope you don't have as many problems as we do.
