About the Owner

We fell in love with this area, the property and the people sometime ago. The scenery from the top of the Black Mountain looking down to the property, we think is stunning. We consider ourselves very lucky to live in this part of the world. Steve and Terri

What wonderfully peaceful and relaxing week we have experienced at Glan Clydach, sitting in front of the log burner in the evening was fabulous. The bed was so comfortable too. Thank you for a lovely stay, see you next year. Kirsty and Ross 30. 5. 2011

Thank you for a lovely week in your farmhouse, it is absolutely beautiful, the land was perfect for the dog to have a good run and sniff round, loved the dog beds in the kitchen by the radiator for her to dry off!! Kate, Nigel, Laura and Adam. 26. 6. 2011

We Couldn't Have Asked for a Better Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this house! So much room and the renovation, to us, was perfect! It has modern facilities without losing the beauty of it's old charm! It was perfect and very comfortable and located in the beautiful and quiet countryside! We hated to leave! The kitchen was also large and very well stocked! We very much appreciated the starter pack that you left us with bread, milk, bacon, wine, etc... We loved that this house was close to wonderful castles and the beautiful coast! The owners were very helpful and kind! Thanks, so much for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Amazing dog friendly retreat in the Brecon Beacons

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing break at Glan Clydach, and would recommend this to anyone looking for looking for a secluded dog friendly retreat in the Brecon Beacons.

The Farmhouse itself was fantastic and full of all the charm and character you would expect from a property of this age. We had many walks around the surrounding fields, and Dexter (our Dog) loved playing in the stream behind the house at every opportunity. Everything is literally on your doorstep. The property is perfect for dog owners, with dog-beds provided and plenty of towels in the out-house for drying them off, after playing in the stream. It was a breath of fresh air, not to pay extra for the dog as we have done in other properties. The gated yard/dog run was a perfect sun trap for sitting out on a morning, and watching all the swallows come and go from the Barn on an evening.

The location was ideal. Just a short drive to Llangadog and only 20 mins from Llandeillo where we found plenty of coffee shops and independent shops, for the days that we managed to drag ourselves away from the Cottage.

We were lucky enough to have a week of sunshine, so made the most of it. We watched a sunset from atop the hill, only 10 mins drive away. Visited Castles, forests and drove to llyn y fan fach (25 mins), at the foot of Black Mountain, for a dip in the reservoir.

Terri & Steve were very welcoming and great with Dexter. They had an abundance of firewood for the log burner at no extra cost and were generous to leave us a welcome pack in the fridge on arrival, including everything we needed for breakfast and a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed in the huge double ended bath, on our first night.

Would like to thank Terri and Steve for being amazing hosts and letting us stay at their amazing property. We look forward to returning very soon.

Beautiful house, great surrounding, friendly owner

  • 5 of 5

After a long search on Internet we decided to go to Glan Clydach. And what a good decision it was! The main building is beautifully restored while the adjacent ancient barns add nicely to the character of the old farmhouse. The equipment of the house was very good, everything was clean, and the view from the house onto the hills was magnificent. We stayed with our two Afghan hounds for two weeks, but easily could have been there for another two weeks: so much to see and discover. The Black Mountain is very close by, inviting for beautiful walks. But also other places in Brecon Beacons (Pen y Fan, waterfalls in the Neath valley, Tor y Foel and Llan y Fan Fach) are within one hour drive and really beautiful. We made some longer trips to Pembrokeshire and this was rewarding as well: amazing views and great beaches. For those who want to visit old castles, you couldn't find a better place to stay (e.g. Kidwelly Castle, Carreg Cennen Castle).

We want to thank Terri and Steve again for their warm welcome (groceries for the next morning already in the fridge) and great service!

We most certainly recommend this house to everyone looking for a stylish place to stay in the Brecon Beacons. If we could award six stars, we would do so. We are looking forward to visit Glan Clydach again.

Both Hounds and Humans could have stayed forever!

We were looking for a last minute break to the Brecon Beacons to take our 2 dogs away walking and couldn't have been luckier than to be able to find the Farmhouse free for a couple of days!

Booking was made literally the night before we arrived ( by phone and e-mail) and Terri couldn't have been more organised with sending info about the Farmhouse and clear directions.

I'm not exaggerating to say that the property itself is outstanding and that the owners Terri & Steve were fantastic hosts!

Immaculate and very well equipped... even had a rolling pin for keen bakers!

Most holiday lets are a bit fussy about how many dogs they will accept, but Terri & Steve ( and their own two four-legged furries) are so very welcoming in the doggy department that we all instantly felt at home!

We felt as though we were meeting up with old friends.

To have 16 acres, streams and fields all to ourselves was a real luxury and the hounds had a brilliant time paddling in the brook round the back of the Farmhouse.

We've stayed in several holiday lets with the dogs over the years but this one knocks spots off the rest!

Owners have thought of EVERYTHING.. from the welcome pack ( bread, butter, milk, bubbly, and other cupboard staples) to the doggie towels in the garden room.

We only stayed for 2 full days so had to choose our excursions carefully.

On the first day we went walking to LLyn y fan fach ( as recommended by Terri) and were blown away by the scenery.

Definitely worth the 45 minute hill climb to the lake and then the mountain climb to the top for the endless views and to watch a Red Kite soaring.

On our last day we decided to get in the car and travel to Rhossili beach.. again it was well worth the journey for the amazing scenery and fabulous walk along the top of the cliffs.

Beach was pretty cool too!

Back to the Farmhouse for a soak in the huge tub ( for 2) with a glass of something cold and bubbly... absolute bliss!

We were so sad to leave this magical place but are already making plans to return.

Can't recommend highly enough!!

From the Owner

We choose this area because it's within the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is a peaceful, relaxing and remote spot. We viewed the property in the pouring rain about 4 years ago, but in spite of the weather, we both got out of the car and said, "This is the place". Everyone, even the locals, seem to think that Glan Clydach is special and we certainly think it is.
