About Patricia Harman

Steve and Trish Harman live in England with their three children. Their passions include golf, racing and travel. Although they have lived abroad and travelled extensively, in Gunwalloe they feel they have discovered a piece of paradise!

Patricia Harman purchased this house in 2010

Why Patricia Harman chose Helston

We saw the house about 12 years ago while walking along the coastal path and because of its truly stunning location it took our breathes away. Like many people before and after us, we dreamt of owning a home like this.We came back every year for afternoon tea and became friendly with the owners who assured us that they would only ever leave the house in a box! We are happy to report that they are alive and well and living a few miles down the coast! We still pinch ourselves as we often cannot believe that this particular dream did indeed come true!

The Lizard Peninsular is steeped in history and with beautiful gardens and walks, museums, theatres, galleries, theme parks, maritime centres and wildlife reserves, there is something for everyone.

What makes this house unique

Peace, quiet and total relaxation. We can be as active or lazy as the fancy takes us. With miles of wonderful walks, golf, beaches with swimming or surfing, award winning restaurants, museums and gardens on the doorstep or a short drive away we are spoilt for choice. On the other hand if you just want to sit and contemplate, there are few places that can compete with this truly unique setting.

Beautiful clifftop house

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 nights here in this very beautiful house, with lovely spaces to sit and watch the sea outside and in - and good walks to nearby beaches and villages along the coast. The house is well-equipped and the kitchen has everything you need, and then some! A lovely place to stay!

Perfect place to be

  • 5 of 5

Amazing getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved the home and location. If you like to walk the trails along the ocean, this location can't be beat. The home is lovely and has a very warm homey atmosphere. Arriving to the scones and cakes was such a lovely gesture. There is one restaurant within walking difference that we enjoyed. We are Poldark fans and could not believe how close the filming locations are. It was a magical vacation to get away from our busy lives.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Deanne! Yes, much of Poldark is filmed within spitting distance of the house! We are very lucky to share the most wonderful sunsets day after day, and walk the beaches and headland so beloved of Demelza and Ross! Regards Trish

Amazing house with a great view

  • 5 of 5

The house is amazing. Everything was so lovely prepared and the house and you have everything what you need. The beach is 2 min away and we had such a great view (we saw dolphins and seals) The food walking way is in front of the house, but there wasn't many people who walked there (easter break)

The well come with scones, cake, great bottle of wine was so lovely. We will come definitely back.

After a road trip of more than 2,500 miles, up and down and back and forth across Britain, my daughter, granddaughter, and I spent a perfectly peaceful week at Chydane. The property is everything it's advertised to be: serene with breathtaking sea views, gorgeously decorated, and meticulously cared for.

The location is ideal for day trips throughout Cornwall. We went to the tip of the Lizard peninsula (the most southerly point in Britain), Land's End (the most westerly point in Britain), Penzance, St. Ives, and saw much of the Cornwall and Devon Mining Landscape (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). For good measure, we visited a stone circle (on the solstice) and enjoyed the Southwest Coast Path, which crosses the property.

The property is close enough to Helston that buying groceries and other supplies is easy, and yet you feel a million miles away. As we left, we said a loving good-bye to "our" house and beach, the pub (the Halzephron Inn), and the magical trees, birds, flowers, and hedgerows.

We wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone looking for peace and quiet, and will absolutely be back next time we cross the pond.

What can I say!

  • 5 of 5

It is hard to improve upon the reviews that have already been submitted. Our two weeks at Chydane could not have been more perfect. Swimming, walking, kayaking, cycling, reading in the garden and peeking out of the porthole window to watch the surf and the stars in the middle of the night were just a few of our pleasures during our stay.

We all had our favourite moments: the boys spent hours skimming stones and climbing across the rocks at low tide to the hidden cove; my husband and I loved the walk across the cliffs to Porthleven to shop for fresh crab and lobster; and my mother (82) enjoyed sitting in her chair on the beach watching the world (you were right Trish, she did make it!)

The house lacks for nothing and really is as comfortable and warm as your own home. Even the wealth of board games meant that we continued to enjoy each others' company right up to bedtime.

And as for the scones and cake...

What wonderful holiday memories - thank you!
