Ivy Cottage is a 3 bedroom 17th century thatched cottage lovingly restored by the current owners as their principal home – a pet friendly fully equipped and comfortable home from home. Complete with inglenook fireplace, wood burning stove, exposed beams and range cooker it is the ideal place to relax and unwind. The large garden with its many fruit trees is perfect for children to play and for a summer BBQ. Country walks on the doorstep including through the Cricket St Thomas Estate (home to “To the Manor Born”) and to Forde Abbey, a monastic palace converted into 17th century mansion with award winning gardens. The cottage is located in the friendly village of Winsham with shop, post office and pub on the West Dorset border and within easy reach of the facilities in the nearby towns of Crewkerne and Chard.

Activity and Interests
13 miles to stunning Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. Beaches at Charmouth and Lyme Regis. 16 miles from West Bay and Burton Bradstock beach
Exeter airport 30 miles; Bristol airport 51 miles. Both Heathrow and Gatwick airports approximately 2 hours away. Crewkerne train station 7 miles (London Waterloo); Taunton train station 19 miles (London Paddington). There is limited public transport in the village and so the use of a car is recommended.
Towns at Chard (4 miles) and Crewkerne (7 miles) .
Within approx 30 minutes - Bridport, Montacute House, Sherborne with its 2 castles, Lyme Regis, Golden Cap, Charmouth, West Bay, Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Perry Cider Mills Dowlish Wake.
Within approx 1 hour - Longleat house and safari park, Stonehenge, Georgian city of Bath with its Roman baths, Wells cathedral, Dunster Castle, Exmoor National Park, Bristol Zoo, Abbotsbury swannery and tropical gardens, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge.
Winsham shop and post office open 7 days per week (good local fresh baked bread). Waitrose supermarket in Crewkerne, Tesco and Sainsbury in Chard with good butchers and bakers. All major banks in Chard.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage canteen in Axminster (6 miles). Famous Lord Poulett Arms at Hinton St George "National Dining Pub of the Year 2009" (8 miles). Hicks Oyster Bar at Lyme Regis. The superb Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock. Excellent pub food and all day Sunday carvery at the Windwhistle Inn with open fires (4 miles). Excellent cream teas at Cricket St Thomas Hotel and gardens. Many good village pubs selling local produce.
Swimming pool at Crewkerne. Deep sea fishing West Bay, fishing and boat trips from Lyme Regis.

2 well behaved dogs allowed by prior arrangement (£10 extra per dog per stay). 30% non refundable deposit required on booking, balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival. £200 refundable deposit required. This will be returned within 2 weeks of departure subject to satisfactory property inspection. Strictly no smoking in cottage.
Changeover day is Friday. Arrival after 3pm, departure by 10am. Can be flexible on dates.

- Notes on accommodation: Traditional 17th Century Somerset long house sympathetically extended over the centuries in peaceful rural village. Outside: Extensive gardens in 3 main areas with paddock with fruit trees (apple, pear, greengage, cherry, walnut and raspberry bushes), vegetable plot, 3 small ponds. Small children should not be left unsupervised. BBQ area with wood burning chimnea (BBQ provided). Table and chairs. Large drive with parking for numerous cars. Utility Room: Miele washing machine with in built tumble dryer, larder cupboard, ironing board and iron. Oil fired combination boiler. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included. Property cleaned weekly on Fridays when towels and linen changed including fortnightly bookings.
